Lode the standard in Ergometry
Since Mr. Freerk Lode produced the first electromagnetically braked bicycle ergometer in 1952, accuracy, reliability and durability have formed the basis for all further developments. Whereas Lode BV initially only specialised in the field of cardiology and pulmonary function, it has since grown to become a multifunctional specialist in the complete spectrum of medical ergometry. Lode is world renowned as a manufacturer of high quality ergometers and the Lode brand stands for accuracy, durability and ergonomic design. The range of Lode products varies from bicycle and treadmill ergometers to arm ergometers, recumbent ergometers, supine ergometers and ergometry software.
Thanks to Lode’s many years of experience in production of medical ergometers and the continuous development to meet changing market demands, Lode is a flexible and reliable partner. In consultation with clients, specific ideas and requirements can be translated into a custom-made product. This has resulted in Lode also becoming a much requested supplier for various specialised ergometry projects.
Before leaving the factory all Lode ergometers are dynamically calibrated and, of course, all units are produced under the strictest quality control conditions. Lode is ISO 9001:2000, ISO 13485:2003 and FDA certified and fulfills the EU Medical Device Directive MDD 93/42/EEC. Over years of use, service costs are almost negligible. In other words: Lode, the standard in Ergometry.
Angio: the standard in Arm Ergometry! The three Lode fundamentals, “accuracy, durability and reliability” all apply to our Angio arm ergometer. This ergometer is perfectly suited for various arm ergometry applications in Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Research.
The workload range of this ergometer is adjustable in a range of 7 to 1000 watt, making it possible to use in various settings and applications. For commu-nication with ECG and Ergospirometry devices or PC, both RS232 and analog interfaces come standard with the ergometer. The modern and stable design has been implemented in both the ergometer and its accessories.
The basic Angio ergometer can be extended with a programmable control unit for implementing up to 24 protocols. For all Lode ergometers a blood pres-sure module with 3-Dimensional K-sound analysis available. Please note that during blood pressure monitoring the upper arm needs to be at rest making it only suitable for arm ergometry in specific circumstances.
The Angio Single Set is an ergometric unit that can be used for both arm and supine ergometry. Its compact design makes it universally applicable for ergometric studies in those sectors in which standard ergometry cannot be used, like customized applications and research laboratories.
With this system, the Angio ergometer is supplied with a wall mounting bracket and handgrips as standard.
The Angio ergometer with the freestanding mount offers optimal flexibility and adjusta-bility. This system is standard supplied with handgrips. The height of the Angio is electri-cally adjustable for ease of use, over a range of 140 cm, making it suitable for both arm and leg ergometry and perfect for testing wheel-chair subjects. The optional reclining chair with electrically variable positioning and adjustable backrest offers a wide range of ergometry testing.
This electrically adjustable system has been developed for the Angio in arm ergometry settings. The wall-mounted system allows the Angio ergometer to move vertically over a range of 70 cm and is adjusted using a remote control. Supplied with handgrips, the Angio can be used in a variety of applications: subjects can be tested in wheelchairs or in an upright position.

BODY WEIGHT SUPPORT SYSTEM
Ever since Mr Fré Lode manufactured the first electro-magnetic cycle ergometer in 1952, accuracy, reliability and durability have been fundamental for further developments. Over the years Lode BV has become the specialist in the complete spectrum of medical ergometry. Lode is world renowned as a manufacturer of high quality ergometers and the Lode brand stands for accuracy, durability and ergonomic design. The Lode product range varies from bicycle ergometers and treadmills to recumbent, arm and supine ergometers and ergometry software. Long-term experience in manufacturing medical equipment and continuous development to meet the changing requirements of the market make Lode a flexible and reliable partner. Together we can transform your specific ideas and wishes into custom made products. Before leaving the factory all Lode ergometers are dynamically calibrated and, of course, all units are produced under the strictest quality control conditions. Lode is ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003 and FDA certified and fulfills the EU Medical Device Directive (MDD) 93/42/EEC. Over years of use, service costs are almost negligible. Thanks to the single point suspension dynamic up and down movement is possible and allows the patient to move and rotate freely. Patients that have to learn how to walk again can be anxious. The Lode BWSS offers various tools to take away this anxiety. Of course, safety is one of the most important aspects that Lode takes into consideration. That is why a fall-stop comes standard with this system. In case a patient threatens to fall, the fall-stop will make sure that the patient will remain in the system and will not be injured.
The optional pair of chairs for the therapist offer a comfortable position at the side of the treadmill. The therapist can support the patient optimally from this position. The chairs are movable and rotatable in order to obtain the ideal sitting position.
Many patients that have to learn how to walk again are mobile through a wheelchair. The Lode BWSS takes exactly these patients into full consideration: with the optional entrance plate the patient can be placed on the treadmill in the wheelchair. The harness can be easily put on to the sitting patient. Then the patient can stand up directly from the wheelchair with support of the Lode BWSS thanks to the lifting function. This function is suitable for patients up to 160 kg. Now the patient can start the therapy without much effort.
The optional side handrails have an ideal ergonomic design in order to support the patient optimally and provide a sensation of safety. The side handrails are adjustable both in width and in height. This flexible system offers the perfect adjustment for each individual patient without obstructing the therapist.

The Corival product line: Corival, Corival Recumbent and Corival Pediatric.
Special Features and Benefits
The Corival is a modern ergometer with an ergonomic, stable design and is suitable for all body postures. The comfortable step-through feature enables easy positioning of all test subjects on the ergometer. With the unique one-touch stepless saddle and handlebar adjustment, test subjects can be positioned quickly. The Corival can be controlled easily by all known stress ECG and pulmonary devices in the world.
The extreme low start-up load of 7 watts and the adjustability in small steps of 1 watt make this ergometer perfectly suitable for many different applications. The standard control unit shows multiple ergometry parameters and you can determine your specific default setting and start-up menu.
Due to a simplified keyboard you can access the full menu function with only 3 buttons. In order to respond to individual requirements, it is possible to freely adjust the different parameters shown in the display and select one of the pre-programmed languages.
The Corival has an eddy current electro-magnetic braking mechanism. The biggest advantage of this system is the accuracy which is one of the most important Lode principles. With this ergometer, the stress tests performed are reliable and reproducible. The workload is adjustable in a range of 7 to 1000 watt. Moreover, the noise level is reduced to a minimum. Easy transportation of the device is possible by a simple retractable wheel.
The Corival is one of the most popular ergometers worldwide. The Corival product line ranges from the basic Corival to the Corival Recumbent for obese and elderly test subjects and the Corival Pediatric for young children. Of course, all Corival ergometers meet the latest requirements and are developed in accordance with our three fundamental principles: accuracy, durability and reliability.
Options
The basic model of the Corival ergometer can be extended with the following options:
• Programmable control unit Besides the features of the standard display unit, this control unit has an additional display
facing the operator. It is possible to programme up to 24 user-defined protocols. Possible programming stages are: step, ramp, linear, heart rate, torque, repeat and all combinations of these parameters. Furthermore, the Åstrand protocol is standard preprogrammed. This option is also available with infrared SpO² measurement which displays the oxygen saturation and heart rate, measured by a finger clip.
• Blood pressure module Using this option you can extend your standard Corival with an auscultatory blood pressure
module with DKA (3-Dimensional K-sound Analysis) for use during ergometry stress testing. The module can be used with and without an ECG trigger. The robust microphone has a double-sided pickup element for increased sensitivity and noise reduction. This option can be extended with a BPM headphone set, enabling the test operator to listen to the Korotkoff sounds.
• Heart rate option The heart rate option consists of a belt and receiver and offers the possibility to programme
heart rate controlled protocols. The heart rate is displayed on the control unit.
• 0-watt start up system This option offers the opportunity to drive the ergometer without load (0 watt) at a
preset pedal speed. You can choose any pedal speed between 30 and 80 rpm. The number of revolutions is increased to the required rpm by means of a motor drive. There is no energy-loss due to the start-up phase.
• Adjustable cranks These cranks are adjustable within a range of 80 to 170 mm, with increments of 5 mm steps.
The minimum leg length is 560 mm.
• Pediatric option This option provides a small children’s seat and adjustable cranks. It makes the basic Corival
suitable for children (minimum leg length: 560 mm). This option can be combined with the shortened saddle shaft.
• Shortened saddle shaft This saddle shaft is adjustable within a range of 438 to 738 mm. The minimum leg length is
484 mm. With this option the Corival is even more suitable for young or small children.
• Lode Ergometry Manager This is the generic term for various software modules that enable e.g. read-out, printing,
monitoring, saving and analysing the measured data of the ergometer. Within the Lode Ergometry Manager it is e.g. also possible to programme protocols, control the ergometer and use special pre-programmed tests. LEM is the perfect supplement to a modern ergometry setting.
• Other available options Horizontal saddle adjustment, extra large saddle, saddle with backsupport, arm support,
writing tray, pedal shoes and pedal strap extension.

Excalibur Sport, the Gold Standard in Ergometry
ever, this ergometer has been developed for extreme workloads up to 2500 watt! The new design ensures maximum stability at these high workloads. Thanks to the increased adjustability, versatile positioning of the test subject has never been better!
Workload controlThe workload of this latest Lode ergometer is adjust-able in a range of 8-2500 watt. The peak load of 1500- 2500 watt can be maintained for a maximum duration of 6 minutes. With the standard external control unit, the workload can be controlled in the following modes: isokinetic, hyperbolic, linear, torque and heart rate (optional).
AdjustabilityThe handlebar can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. Moreover, the saddle has horizontal, vertical and angle adjustment. The height of both the handlebar and saddle can be positioned by Lode’s unique one-touch adjustment handle. In addition, it is now possible to read out the most important parameters of the seating position of the test subject on the display of the control unit.
Control & InterfaceThe Excalibur Sport can be controlled by a PC (with the optional LEM software) as well as by external equipment. During the test, the parameters of work-load, rpm, time, distance and torque are displayed on the external control unit. The additional handlebar display indicates rpm and/or workload.
• Lode the standard in Ergometry
Ever since Mr Fré Lode manufactured the first electro-magnetic cycle ergometer in 1952, accuracy, reliability and durability have been fundamental for further developments. Having started years ago in the small market of cardiology and pulmonary function, Lode BV has become a specialist in the complete spectrum of medical ergometry. Lode is world renowned as a manufacturer of high quality ergometers and the Lode brand stands for accuracy, durability and ergonomic design. The Lode product range varies from bicycle ergometers and tread-mills to recumbent, arm and supine ergometers and ergometry software.
Long-term experience in manufacturing medical equipment and continuous development to meet the changing requirements of the market, make Lode a flexible and reliable partner. Together we can trans-form your specific ideas and wishes into custom-made products.
Before leaving the factory all Lode ergometers are dynamically calibrated and, of course, all units are produced under the strictest quality control condi-tions. Lode is ISO 9001:2000, ISO 13485:2003 and FDA certified and fulfils the EU Medical Device Directive MDD 93/42/EEC. Over years of use, service costs are almost negligible. OptionsThe Excalibur Sport can be extended with the following options:
• Programmable control unit. Next to the features of the standard control unit, the programmable control unit has an additional display which can show the energy and target heart rate (combined with the heart rate option). Up to 50 user-defined protocols can be programmed using: step, ramp, isokinetic, linear, heart rate, torque and repeat modes in any combination. A programmable control unit that can display the oxygen saturation (SpO2) is optional available.
• Blood pressure module. Using this option you can extend the Excalibur Sport with an accurate stress testing blood pressure monitor with 3-Dimensional K-sound Analysis (DKA), triggered by a TTL pulse from an ECG system or by the optional heart rate receiver. The robust microphone has a double-sided pick up element for increased sensitivity and noise reduction.
• Heart rate option. This option allows heart rate controlled stress testing. It consists of a Polar belt and receiver. The heart rate is displayed on the control unit. In combination with the programmable control unit, it offers the possibility to programme heart rate controlled protocols.
• Lode Ergometry Manager (LEM). With the LEM software, the ergometer can be controlled by a PC. LEM is the generic term for various software modules that enable e.g. read-out, printing, monitoring, saving and analysing the measured data of the ergometer. LEM enables you to programme protocols, control the ergometer, use special pre-programmed tests and make analyses.
• Pedal Force Measurement. This option measures the force exerted on the left and right pedal. It is supplied with angle detection (each 2 degree). The forces are measured by strain gauges. An accurate and interference free method of measuring has been estab-lished. With this option, the LEM software is included as standard.
• Wingate Software. With the optional Wingate software module (with correction of the moment of inertia) it is possible to perform a Wingate sprint test in the “constant torque mode”. The Wingate test is a 30 seconds sprint test during which the torque is kept constant at a rate depending on the body weight. With this option, on-line infor-mation about anaerobic capacity and power is obtained.
• Pediatric option. This option makes the Excalibur Sport the perfect solution for testing young children. It consists of a small saddle and adjustable cranks suitable for subjects with a minimum leg length of 640 mm with a minimum saddle height of 560 mm.
• Adjustable cranks. Available in 2 models: paediatric (80-170 mm, 10 mm steps) and sports (135-185 mm, step-less with indication click each 2.5 mm).
• 0-watt start up system. This option drives the ergometer without load (0 watt) up to any preset velocity between 30-80 rpm.
• Comfort set. More suitable for elderly subjects and non cyclists, the Excalibur Sport can be supplied with Lode’s standard handlebar and saddle, ensuring a more comfortable seating position for these test subjects.
Suitable for almost all available clip systems
Adjustable handlebar with rpm/watt meter for test subject
Topple angle ± 10°Notes: - Minimum leg length is measured from the middle of the saddle to the centre of the pedal (in lowest position) - Minimum saddle height is measured from the middle of the saddle to the middle of the crank axis

Cardiac Rehabilitation Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program to help cardiac patients recover quickly and improve their overall physical, mental and social functioning. The goal is to decrease, stabilize or even reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease, therefore reducing the risk of heart disease. With LCRM a new modular system for controlled ergometer training is developed. The PC software enables a complete predefined training control of the patients, documents all relevant data (e.g. ECG, heart rate, training data, etc.) at the same time and therefore relieves the therapist of routine work – the patients can be cared of more intensively. Together with the Lode bicycle and treadmill ergometers LCRM is ready for future extensions with the potential to control up to 16 ergometers simultaneously. Extensions and upgrade possibilities allow the equipment to be adapted according to specific requirements (e.g. automatic blood pressure measurements, SPO2).

Monitoring the patient During the training session the ECG is continuously registered. Markers can be included at any time. It is also possible to compare the actual ECG data and protocol with previous tests of the same test subject. The system further enables 2 more alarms: a heart rate and a blood pressure alarm. Analyzing the training data All data recorded during the training is saved for later analysis. After the training session you can compare and analyze the data both graphically and in a table. Within the analysis session you can scroll from marker to marker. The protocol and ECG data can be viewed and analyzed from each test. Even during analysis it is possible to add markers. All analysis, comparison and extended ECG data can be printed.
The LCRM software This advanced solution for Cardiac Rehabilitation is completely unique, controlling bicycle ergometers as well as treadmills. The ergometers, test subjects and the ECG signal are all combined in the software. This makes it possible to use the system in combination with ergometers, but also stand-alone (e.g. floor exercises). The wireless ECG connection enables the test subjects to move around freely. The software provides individual reports and continuous ECG control. The total solution exists through the LCRM software, Lode ergometers and a wireless 1-channel ECG amplifier. Interval and step protocols can be easily created. Documentation During the training all important data is visible: blood pressure, current heart rate, time and remaining time of the stage. You can as well mark important issues during the test. All data is shown in a clear and simple screen. Training parameters can be changed directly during the training session. Both group training and individual training are possible.

MRI ERGOMETER
MRI ERGOMETER CARDIOLOGY
Physiological exercise testing during Cardiac MRI is now possible with the newly developed Lode MRI Cardiac Ergometer.
The ability to detect ischemic heart disease before myocardial infarction is very important. Cardiac MRI (research carried out with the Philips Gyroscan NT, 0.5 T) gives the following opportunities: • High resolution imaging during myocardial stress to evaluate regional wall motion • Myocardial imaging in order to study regional deficits in perfusion during stress, coronary artery imaging • spectroscopic imaging during stress to study metabolic evidence of ischemia (research carried out with Philips 1.5 T)
Early functional evaluation is needed because: • Myocardial Ischemia can occur in the absence of disease of the epicardial coronary arteries. • Arterial disease can occur without causing myocardial ischemia. • Knowledge of coronary anatomy is inferior to functional tests. • Myocardial perfusion vs coronary anatomy:
• Coronary flow reserve is also dependent on more geometrical factors than only percentage stenosis.
• development of collateral vessels.
The new generation of imagers makes it a fast method to measure cardiac gated multi phase sequences. The Lode MRI Ergometer is a MR compatible ergometer which allows physiological excercise testing with the major upper leg muscle.
Now you can use an ergometer in the magnet without interference on the MRI experiment. And you will obtain proper cardiac MR images during exercise with heart rates above 100 bpm. The Lode MR Ergometer meets the following necessary physiological requirements: • Dynamic cycling exercise. • Major upper leg muscles active. • Supine position. • Comfort of patient:
• Controlled increase in cardiac output and myocardial oxygen demand.
• Stepwise and linear increments and decrements of power and heart rate.
• Individual preference of pedaling rate. (With the well known Lode Workload Programmer, see other Lode products.)
The MRI Cardiac Ergometer is compatible with: The GE-Horizon (General Electrics), Magneton Vision (Siemens) and the Philips 0,5; 1 and 1,5 Tesla models. Drawings of the GE, Siemens and Philips will be sent on request. Specifications WLP • workload range: 10-250 Watt • Linear (rpm dependent) mode • Hyperbolic mode • RPM independency: 40-120 rpm • Manual settings and protocols • Absolute power settings

MRI ERGOMETER
MRI ERGOMETER SPECTROSCOPY
The technology of MRI provides valuable, noninvasive information about the body☃s tissue compartments. With MRI, electromagnetic radiation in the presence of a strong magnetic field is used to excite the hydrogen nuclei of the body☃s water and lipid molecules. This causes the nuclei to give off a detectable signal that can then be rearranged under computer control to visually represent the various body tissues. Spectroscopy in the MRI scanner during physiological exercise is now possible with the newly developed Lode MRI Spectroscopy Ergometer. In vivo biochemical analysis!! You can expect that such research will give amazing opportunities in a broad medical field. The Lode MRI Ergometer is a MR compatible * ergometer which allows physiological exerci-se testing with the major upper leg muscle. Due to the mounting instruction and dimensions of the tunnel the movements are different for the different MRI scanners (real pedal-, up/down- and horizontal movements) Now you can use an electromagenetically braked ergometer in the magnet without interference on the MRI procedures. And you will obtain proper MR images during exercise with heart rates above 100 bpm. The Lode MRI Spectroscopy Ergometer meets the following necessary physiological requirements: • Dynamic cycling exercise • Major upper leg muscles active • Supine position • Comfort of the patient:
Controlled increase in cardiac output and myocardial oxygen demand Stepwise and lineair increments and decrements of power and heart rate Individual preference of pedaling rate (wi th the well known Lode Workload Programmer, see other Lode products).
Specifications WLP • workload range: 10-250 Watt • Linear (rpm dependent) mode • Hyperbolic mode • RPM independency: 40-120 rpm • manual settings and protocols • absolute power settings • Constant heart rate settings Options • Carrier (to transport the ergometer in and out the tunnel) • Patientsupport • Fixation sets • The MRI spectroscopy ergometer is compatible with: The GE-Signa-Horizon (General Electric); Magnetom Vision (Siemens) and the Philips Gyroscan 0,5;1 and 1,5 Tesla models. Drawing Siemens, Philips, GE on request
