Army Heritage and Education CenterWhy is the 314th Infantry

Regiment Memorial Important to Us?

• Facilitates our Public History mission by providing a snapshot of WWI soldier accomplishments.

• Takes advantage of a rare opportunity to acquire a complete story of a fighting regiment from WWI ranging from “Mobilization through Memorialization.”

• Allows us the unprecedented opportunity to preserve an original soldier built WWI structure tied to the regiment.

• Ensure heightened visibility of the regiment by honoring the regiment’s memory though public programs, educational conferences and seminars.

• Complements our collection policy by focusing on the American Soldier’s story.

Army Heritage and Education CenterHow will the 314th Infantry

Regiment Memorial Collection be Presented?

• We will immediately display the Bronze Plaque Honor Role in Ridgway Hall (January 2007)

• Upon reconstruction of the cabin, we will fully interpret both the story of the regiment and the story of the Log Cabin Memorial. (TBD)

• Integrate the history of the regiment and division into the AHEC’s outdoor Army Heritage Trail WWI Trench Experience being built in Spring 2007.
