Principal’s Report
Congratulations to all our Zone Swimmers! - We had 14 students who represented
our school at the Zone Swimming Carnival last Thursday at Engadine Pool –
Thomas K, Isabella D, Summer H, Sienna F, Adrian T, Callum G, Katelyn K, Jamie C,
Kade R, Jesse HW, Savannah D, Damien C, Oliver D and Lucas P. These students
did themselves and Bonnet Bay very proud, competing with fierce determination,
enthusiasm and wonderful sportsmanship. Thank you to Mrs Distefano who
accompanied our students on the day and for all her hard work behind the
scenes.
“BULLYING NO WAY” National Day of Action this Friday - Join us to support this
important event, reinforcing the message in our school and community that
Bullying is not OK! We will be participating in activities in our classrooms and
recognising this day on Friday 15th March. Our leaders will be leading the way.
Each student will receive a wrist band to wear to remind them of our oath.
BONNET BAY turns 40! - As we plan to celebrate our school’s 40th Anniversary this
year, I welcome any interested community members who would like to join a
small committee to drive the celebration. I have staff members and a P&C
representative keen to be a part of this committee and I welcome others to join
us with great ideas and support. As they say many hands make light work! Please
contact me with your details so we can organise a meeting and get started on
our planning of this exciting celebration.
Harmony Day - “Everyone Belongs At Bonnet Bay”. Wear Orange on Wednesday
27th March and celebrate working in harmony at our school. Remember to
choose to be kind and follow our school values of Care, Cooperation, Integrity,
Responsibility and Respect! We have a vibrant storyteller Mona Williams coming
to present to our students, covering a vast spectrum of stories including myths,
legends and heroic tales. This captivating performance on diversity drives home
the Harmony Day message of ‘Everyone belongs’. Please return your permission
note and small cost of $3.50 asap.
Fathering Project-Bonnet Bay Dads - Dads dinner and information session,
Thursday 28th March 2019 at Como Pub. Return your RSVP to the office by
Thursday 21st March.
Staff Professional Learning - We have a number of staff attending Professional
Learning Training over the next few weeks. This training is vital for building
capacity in our staff to deliver quality teaching and learning in our classrooms. So
please be aware and understanding of staff absences. Our wonderful staff are
very committed and organised and ensure that teaching and learning programs
continue in their absence, leaving detailed plans for their replacement teachers
Tell Them From Me student feedback survey for students in Years 4, 5, 6. Reminder,
if you do not want your child or children to participate, please ensure that the
non-consent form is returned to school. More information about the survey is
available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

Zone Swimming
It was a chilly day for our Sutherland Zone
Swimming Carnival on Thursday last week, but
nothing could stop the determination of
students from Bonnet Bay Public School!
We had 16 students competing in a variety of
events, including a Junior Girls relay team and
Senior Boys relay team.
Congratulations to all of the students who
competed at the carnival. As always, you
upheld the BBPS values, gave your best in each
race and supported your peers.
Well done!

BASC News Friday 15th March represents the national day
of Action Against Bullying and Violence. To
increase awareness we have been busy
creating a poster together promoting
Anti-Bullying, Inclusion and Kindness. Inclusion
involves taking into account all children’s
social, cultural and linguistic diversity. Our
intent is to ensure all children’s experiences are
recognised and valued. Children learn to reach
out and communicate for comfort, assistance
and companionship. Over the next week
children will
have the
opportunity to
participate in
the Interrelate
‘Say No to
Bullying poster
Competition’.
Kindergarten Enrolments
We are taking enrolments for
Kindergarten 2020.
Our Kindergarten Information
Evening will be held on Tuesday

neighbours that do, please
spread the word.
Stewart House Clothing Appeal NSW Department of Education Charity of
Choice Stewart House has been working in
partnership with The Smith Family for more
than 50 years. The recycling operation helps
schools in NSW run clothing drives to collect
good quality clothes and accessories for
resale or export in Smith Family stores. School
clothing drives are an important source of
good quality new and near-new clothing,
helping to keep our stock levels high.
Donated clothing must be left at school by
Wednesday 3rd April 2019.
