PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

National Reconciliation Week

Our students have been participating in a range of learning activities this week as we recognise National Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme is ‘In This Together’ as we acknowledge our past and work together for a shared future.

Canteen

It was very exciting to reopen the canteen on Monday for a 2 week trial. The canteen will be open on the regular days next week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We will comply with COVID19 Guidelines, which will see a slightly different functioning canteen for now. Sneeze screens and distancing

measures will be in place and every effort will be made to reduce contact. There will only be two volunteers per day. Thank you for your understanding. Please see later in the newsletter for more information about the canteen.

Parking and Stopping in Bus Bay

Last week, a number of parents were witnessed parking and stopping in the bus bay during no parking times or completing U turns while students were walking. Please be very mindful of the road rules and ensure all precautions are taken to maintain the safety of our students. Parents should use the crossing and not call students across the road. Please come to the school side of the road to collect them safely.

R U OK?

While we all continuously focus on supporting our students during these interesting times, there is also a broader need to support the adults in our community. R U OK? inspires and empowers everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and to start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. Please consider reaching out to anyone who you are concerned with by asking the simple question, R U Ok? You don't need to be an expert to reach out, just a good friend and a great listener.

Start a conversation with these four steps:

1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4. Check in For more information visit: R U OK? Further information on support organizations is listed later in the newsletter and attached to the email.

Stage 3

This Term, Stage 3 has done well to transition from online learning back into full-time education mode.

During the next few weeks, we will be assessing the students and collecting work samples, in preparation for half yearly reports.

Each year the students in Year 6 are eligible to be Dux of the school. Due to on-line learning and the challenges that it presented, we have decided not to include marks from google classroom work. We will still use all the assessment data we gathered pre-lock down, as well as assessments and work tasks we are doing up until the end of Term 4.

In Weeks 7 and 8, Stage 3 are booked into online, virtual lessons and activities presented by Longneck Lagoon. This is to complement the work we did on ‘Animal Adaptations’. Staff from LLEEC will display a range of living things using a digital microscope and guide discussions about the adaptations of living things. Some supporting resources will be provided. There is no cost for this program.
