Term 3 Week 6 Thursday 20 August 2015 School Musical – helpers needed If you can spare a few hours we are working on the Costumes every Tuesday 11-3pm & Friday 10-3pm in A Block Classroom at school. There are lots to cut, sew, paint, glue and unpick as well as labelling & hanging up costumes. Just sign in at the Office first. All offers of help are appreciated!! Leah 0418215340 (Eliza Boyle's Mum). Please drop at school any large cardboard boxes you may have at home eg. New fridge, flat pack furniture, new TV, moving house boxes etc. This will be a great help to the parents making the sets & props.

School Contributions Just a reminder that school contributions are $40 per student or $80 per family. Payments can be made at the office. Thank you to those families who have already paid.

Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility If you are volunteering at our school please sign in at the office when you arrive and leave. Always wear our visitor’s lanyard so our children know you are allowed at our school. Road Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility As a school we need to ensure all children move safely from the grounds at the end of the day and I need our community’s help to do it. There is a teacher on duty to ensure the safety of children being picked up and there is signage on the driveway as a reminder to the children to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK. The staff car park is only available to staff. Please do not drive into the car park to pick up or drop off children. We really appreciate our community’s support as we make the exit from school a safe process for everyone. WHS Student supervision out of school hours When there are organised activities after school, which are not ran by the school such as drama or music lessons; there is no direct supervision of students by teachers. Parents need to be aware that if their child is taking part in an after school activity on school grounds it is their responsibility to supervise or organise supervision from 3:00pm (end of school) until the activity begins to ensure the safety of their child. We appreciate your support in ensuring our students stay safe during and after school hours.

Pedestrian Safety Thank you to all of the parents and carers who continue to show safe driving practices around our school and to the parents, carers and students who use the crossing to safely

cross before and after school. It is a very busy place at these times and we do appreciate your patience and modelled behaviour that provides an excellent example of road safety for the students at our school. Commonwealth Banking Reward Concerns have been raised regarding the ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’ reward item due to the inclusion of four button batteries that can be accessed by unscrewing the back of the torch. Whilst this reward has been independently tested and deemed to meet relevant product standards the Commonwealth Bank have made the decision to proactively withdraw this item from the School Banking Rewards Program. Parents/Guardians are requested to dispose of any ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torches’ their child may have already received as part of the Rewards Program. Students who have previously received a ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’ are welcome to redeem an alternative reward item.

Killcare Wagstaffe Brigade

Get Ready Weekend Open Day Saturday 12 September

Spring begins after a long dry spell on 1 September and the local fire season begins on 1 October. The Killcare Wagstaffe Brigade will celebrate Get Ready Weekend Open Day on the Hardys Bay Foreshore from 9am until 1pm on Saturday 12 September. Local volunteers will be there to discuss with you recommended ways to prepare your home and its surrounds for the current season, to advise on the completion of your bush fire survival plan, to demonstrate simple fire-fighting equipment and show you how to deal with small kitchen fires. Younger members of the family can join in safe, fun activities while you consider your bush fire survival plan.
