ben tornato All students returned this week looking refreshed and ready for a busy Term 4. As

is usually the case for this time of the year, there are many events planned and

lots of learning activities being prepared for our students.

In addition to our learning programs there will be Kindergarten Orientation,

Woody Head Excursion, Chess and Draughts, Movie Night, Intensive Swimming,

Performance Night, Art Gallery writing and Exhibition visit, Semester 2 Reports,

Presentation Night, Beach Day and Year 6 Day. Hopefully our parents and carers

can find some time to join us for some of these activities as we progress through

Term 4 with the students.

Welcome back to Mrs Williams!

Positive Learning Behaviours Starting next week teachers will introduce the positive learning behaviours

expected in our school’s different settings. Thank you to all the parents who

returned their survey and shared their ideas. Staff have discussed the suggestions

made and changes will be made where appropriate.

The goal of this initiative is that all students will develop an understanding of

the behaviours expected across our school which will in turn enhance positive

learning experiences for them.

As these discussions and learning activities take place in classrooms, posters will

be placed around the school as visual reminders for our students.

Attached to this newsletter is the “All Settings” poster that will be located in all

classrooms.

Tell Them from Me Parent SurveyThis survey will close next week. We would love to gain some additional feedback

from our school community about our school. Currently we have just 4 surveys

completed! This is possibly your last chance for the year

to confidentially share your ideas and thoughts about

how we operate as your local school. The survey which

has been customised for our school and takes about 10-

15 minutes to complete. The survey can be found at:

https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/1361

Each family who complete the survey will go into a draw

to win a $50 gift card. All questions are multiple choice

and the survey is anonymous! But we do need to ask who

completed it for the gift card draw! Please let Kimmy in

the office know if you have already completed it. Thanks!

Senior Excursion – HELP Needed!Unfortunately, one of our mums who planned to help at

camp has had to withdraw for personal reasons. With

camp just two weeks away, we need to find a replacement

urgently. If you are able to help out, please contact the

school office or Mr Curtin. Due to the girl/boy ratio we do

prefer the helper to be a mum.

Students received a note yesterday

outlining the things they need to

take to camp. If there are any

concerns about the list, please contact the school office.

The cost of the excursion is $160. We are now asking

all families to finalise the outstanding amount by Friday

of next week. Purchasing and payments are now taking

place. The majority of students have paid the $60 deposit.

A reminder that we asking those families who are lending

us tents to drop them off at school by next TUESDAY so

student groups can be allocated and practise erecting

them.

Year 7 Transition Day for Evans River

Evans River Community School will be holding a Transition

Day on Friday 26 October. This Transition Day serves to

provide students with a chance to visit Evans River with

other students from feeder schools allowing them to

meet teachers and engage in some learning activities to

familiarise them with their new school. Permission notes

need to be returned by next Monday.

Performance Night

Each of our groups commenced their practice sessions

yesterday for the end of year Performance. The majority

of students are very excited about the idea of being

involved in a whole school performance.

Unfortunately, we have needed to change the date for our

performance evening. This is the result of the timing clash

with the Intensive Swimming program which wouldn’t

allow for a dress rehearsal and the younger children are

usually very tired during this two-week activity. So, the

change has been made to ensure we have the students at

their peak performance and it also gives us an extra week

to prepare.

The date for the Performance Evening will now be

Thursday 13 December commencing at 6pm at the

Broadwater Community Hall. Hopefully this is sufficient

notice for this change so as not to disrupt family plans

leading up to Christmas.

Presentation NightWith the change of date for the Performance Evening we

have also changed our Presentation Night to the last week

of term. Presentation Night will now be held on Tuesday

18 December in the back

playground. More details

will be sent home at a later

date.
