From the Principal’s Desk Welcome Back - Term 4 I hope everybody had a relaxing and refreshing break over the holiday period and are ready for a very busy final term of the 2019 school year. With so much happening this term, it is extremely important you stay up to date with everything going on in the school. Please always read the newsletter and be aware of upcoming events so our students don't miss out on some of the wonderful opportunities we have on offer.
Kinder Orientation/Kinder Ready It was lovely to see a large number of our 2020 Kindergarten students in attendance on Wednesday for our annual Kinder Orientation morning. All the new Kinder students spent the morning in the Kindergarten classrooms while parents attended an information session in the hall. Next week, our Kinder Ready afternoons will commence and students should have their names written down for their choice of day for this program. Parent information sessions on different school topics will run during these Kinder Ready afternoons. It is now really important we get all enrolment applications returned so we can begin to plan our class structures for 2020. If you have not already returned your paperwork, it would be appreciated if this could be returned to the office as soon as possible.
2020 Student Leaders The process of finding our student leaders for 2020 has begun this week. Interested Year 5 students can now collect a nomination form from the office and will then go through an interview process before short-listing will take place prior to elections later in the term. If students have any questions about the process, please encourage them to come and ask questions and find out more about the role.
Playground Works Throughout the holidays and over the first week of school, a range of works have taken place to start improving our 3-6 top playground space. The dry creek bed contour has had some earthworks done and will hopefully have some topsoil added in the near future with some grass seed to go down also. We have also seen a few trees removed from our playground for various reasons but we will also be looking to replant some more 'playground friendly' trees to provide shade for our students into the future. Work has also begun in our K-6S playground with plans for some interactive vegetable gardens and a sensory space for our K-6S students. John Ireland – Principal

PACER Students from our school will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian government is contributing funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. This amount has already been taken into consideration with our costings of our Canberra Excursion.
