Many fathers were able to come for the celebration, which was a tremendous effort. Well done dads!!!! Regan Thistle – “We had a thumb wrestling contest with the thumb wrestling arena we made at school. I painted mine blue and red. Dad won the contest.” Emma Donoghue – “I liked it when my dad came. We made a thumb wrestling game. I had fun.” Mikheely Mills – “When my dad came we painted our thumb wrestling game. It was fun having a game with my dad. I won four and dad only won two.” NAPLAN online Last week our Year 3 and Year 5 students were involved in the trial of NAPLAN online at school. This test was a practice only and was really for the purpose of making sure we are ready to participate in the proper NAPLAN online tests next year. Scores were not collected from these tests. The students sat these tests using individual laptops and it was pleasing to see that the tests were completed without any issues. The Department of Education is hoping that these tests will go ahead in the online format across the state in 2018. SASS Recognition Week This week across the state in all public schools, we are recognising the outstanding support schools receive from their SAS staff (all non-teaching staff). Here at Quirindi Public we have wonderful SAS staff who do a fabulous job in supporting the students and other staff every day. Our school certainly would not be able to operate without the SAS staff. Thank you for the way you do you your job in a professional and enthusiastic way. You are appreciated!! We wish them all the best. We also have our boys and girls basketball teams heading off to Bathurst next week to compete in the State PSSA Knockout. What a fabulous achievement and we also wish both teams the very best as they compete with the best in the state!! The Leader in Me Congratulations to Bella Pollard on being the winner of the design our koala cares competition! What a great picture and logo! Bella is a great example of how our PBL and Leader In Me link together. Habit 1 is all about being proactive and working to achieve a task. This is what Bella has done in submitting her winning entry for the Koala Cares logo. See table later in the newsletter that shows how our PBL values and the Leader In Me Synergise together.

Year 6 Canberra Excursion Please remember that all Canberra money must be paid by the end of this term – Friday 22 September 2017. If you would like to know what you have owing please call the office. This money needs to be paid before the rollover to our new system. Not long now until they go!

Lost Property Our lost property basket is well and truly overflowing at the moment. Many items have names on them but there are a lot that don’t have names. Please get your child to come up to the office and have a look through this huge pile – there must be some very cold children out there. If you come and check and there is no name on an item please feel free to take it for your child.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Program This week in the kitchen the children made 'soup of the imagination'. The beautiful, colourful display of a vast array of vegetables was laid out for them, and they chose how their dish was going to look and taste depending on the choices they made. They also had a choice in adding noodles and/or egg which meant there were a vast number of different soups made. The children thoroughly enjoyed the process and were very pleased with themselves and in what they had created. Well done everyone.
