EFUNDS Vs Reliance Infocom In the inaugural match of 5th Eventus cup EFUNDS won the toss and elected to bat on Palam-A ground. The start was good as openers collected 11 runs in 1.4 overs but Satish Shastri in his very first overs took the wkts of Hardeep Singh & Parminder Negi on a the deliveries that came in before pitching and then moved out to dislodge their off stump with no addition to the total. Satish Shastri struck again to pick another wkt on 27 runs, as Nakul Sharma was trapped leg before wicket. Prashant Ahlawat & Gaurav Malik put on 29 valuable runs for the 4th wkt to push the score to 56 runs in 10.4 overs. Sunny Kaul broke this partnership as he bowled well-settled Prashant who looked in good touch. N.P. Singh Pickled the wkt of Gaurav Malik on 61 runs to give another blow, before EFUNDS could settle N P Singh trapped Nitin Sehgal in front of stumps for no score. At this stage, EFUNDS looked in trouble as 6 wkt were down for just 61 runs in 12 overs. Amit Mishra 19 & Vivek Sharma 14 runs shared partnership of 41 runs to pull their side out of trouble. Satish Shastri dismissed Amit Sharma on 102 runs while Pankaj Gupta took the wkt of Vivek Sharma on same score in 19.3 overs. Bhupinder & Vikas Sharma (super sub) shared a partnership of 31 runs for the 9th wkt in 4.2 overs. Vikas justifying the replacement collected 16 not out off 16 deliveries added 11 runs for the last wkt to reach 144 runs at the close of innings in 25 overs. Reliance Infocom did well to contain opponents early in the innings but took it too causal during the later stage, which allowed EFUNDS to have a defending total. Reliance lost their 5 wkts for 31 runs as Wasim Sidiqi took 2 early wkts while Amit Mishra & Bhupinder with 1 wkt each saw half the side back in pavilion. Sanjay Motwani 20 not out & Manoj Malhotra 11 collected 25 for the 6th wkt while Satish Shastri 23 runs of 22 balls added 29 runs for the 7th wkt to reach 85 runs in 21.4 overs. Parminder Negi was brilliant behind the wickets as he was involved in four dismissals out of first five and later both the partnerships for 6th & 7th wkt came to end due to lightening fast stumping. Reliance managed to score only 95 runs in 25 overs and thus lost the match by 49 runs to concede the bonus point as well. Though Reliance lost the game but all round performance of Satish Shastri got him the Reebok Outperformer of the Match.

Airtel Vs Ericsson Ericsson won the toss and elected to bat on Palam A ground. The first wicket fell at 11 runs as opener Vivek Vasistha was bowled by Sandy. Wickets kept falling one after another and Ericsson was in dire straits after 14 overs with total reaching 49 runs for the loss of 7 wkts. The only batsmen to reach double figures were Manish Oberio and Kunal Mahan as none of batsmen made efforts to build a partnership and take the score to some respectability. Ericsson was bundled out for 70 runs in 20.2 overs as Sandeep Chawla picked 4 wkts. He finished with fine figures of 4.2-0-8-4 and also anticipated a low return catch to perfection that was a treat to watch. Airtel while chasing the small target showed same casual approach as they lost both the openers for 23 runs in 3 overs. They were in more trouble as Vikas Madan took 3 quick wkts to restrict them to 38 for 5 wkts. Airtel was struggling but Sandeep Chawla came to their rescue with a matured knock. Sandeep Chawla 17 not out & Navneet Zutshi 12 runs not out shared partnership of 33 runs to win the match without any further loss and earn six points. Both these batsman rotated the strike well and took no undue risk since one more wkt could have changed the complexion of the game. Citi Financial Vs Schenker India Schanker India on wining the toss invited Citi Financial to bat first on Palam B ground. The openers Atul Dixit 53 & Vishal Gambhir 35 runs laid good foundation as they collected 87 runs in 12 overs. Both the batsmen picked runs from the very first over and cashed on every opportunity available. Atul Dixit hammered the bowlers to all parts scoring 10 boundaries while Vishal Gambhir concentrated more on singles and provided maximum strike to his partner. Citi Financial with such a score were looking at target of 200 runs but Anthony Prince picked 3 quick wkts to check the flow of runs and restrict them to 115 runs in 20 overs. Just when runs were not coming easily Satyen Mehra 19 & Sandeep 16 shared a good partnership of 36 runs to post a defending total of 157 runs from 25 overs. Schanker openers could not provide a good start as early break through by Rakesh Makkar never allowed them to recover and soon 5 wkts fell at the score of 28 runs in 7.2 overs. Subhasish Ghosh 17 runs and Shiv Charan were the only 2 players to reach double figures. Rakesh Makkar took 3 wkts while Sandeep, Satyen & Vikas took 2 wkts each. The bowlers kept on picking wkts as they bowled good line & length and never allowed any batsmen to settle as a result the entire team got out on 73 runs in 16.5 overs. Citi Financial won the match by good margin of 84 runs and also picked the bonus point. The Man of the Match was awarded to Atul Dixit for his brilliant batting performance.

Hewitt Vs Supreme Court

Supreme Court won the toss & elected to bat first on Palam B ground. They started off badly as they lost both the openers for 9 runs and another 2 wickets fell at the score of 12 runs in 4.5 overs as Soumay & Navneet picked two wkts each. The partnership of 14 & 10 runs for 5th & 6th wkt made them reach 36 runs in 11.3 overs. Rajeev Narang 16 runs & Aditya 20 runs shared partnership of 29 runs to push the score to 65 runs. Supreme Court were playing with 10 players and thus were bowled out for 75 runs in 21.1 overs. All the bowlers used by Hewitt were bang on target and finished with very impressive figures. Soumya Dey took 3 wkts while Navneet & Brijesh took 2 wkts each. Hewitt chased the target in 13.1 overs with out any difficulty as Alex George 26 not out shared 3 partnerships of 11, 15 & 26 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd wkt. 20 runs were added for the 5th wkts unbroken stand to win the match with a bonus point. Soumya took 3 wkts and scored 16 runs but gave away his wicket when it was not called for. His irresponsible attitude did not get him the Man of the Match. He should learn how to play from the Man of the Match, Alex George who played an excellent knock with straight bat and on merits of the delivery without any haste.

Valvoline Vs NDTV Valvoline on winning the toss decided to field first on CSG-I ground. NDTV lost first wicket for no score on board as Bhupinder provided the break through. Deepak Sharma scored 33 runs to share two vital partnerships of 43 runs for the 2nd & 3rd wkt respectively. The first one with Rakesh Gaur (19 runs) where most of the runs came in singles as both the batsmen took no risk and focused on consolidating the inning. The second partnership was with Gautam Agarwal (30 runs) who played attacking shots to lift the run rate & posted 86 runs in 17 overs. Gautam Agarwal continued the good work as he scored 62 not out from only 44 deliveries, collected 40 runs for the 4th wkt and once again making maximum contribution while Ravi Kumar made 18 runs to score 128 runs in 22.5 overs. Gautam Agarwal did not tried to go for big shots rather selected the right ball to pick boundaries added another 20 runs to finish at 148 runs in 25 overs. Valvoline got of to a flyer as openers Saud Ahmed (54 runs) started his run campaign with boundary and continued in similar fashion hitting 7 fours & 2 sixes. He took only 32 deliveries to score half century. Sandeep Kalia 15 runs gave him good support by giving maximum strike to put on 75 runs in 10.5 overs. Sandeep Kalia added 22 more to his total and shared a partnership of 27 runs for the 2nd wkt to reach 102 runs in 15.4 overs. Ranjeet who took the wkt of Sandeep, took 2 more wkts to restrict opponents to 107 for 4 wkts in 17.5 overs and provided some hopes to NDTV for making a come back. Vikas Kaushal & Sandeep Kaishta both were new at the crease and yet to score. This pair shared partnership of 44 runs to ensure victory for their side with out any further damage in 22.5 overs. Sandeep Kaishta played a quick fire knock of 25 not out taking just 14 balls while Vikas 16 runs scored run a ball. Valvoline won the match by 6 wickets but conceded bonus point to NDTV. LG Electronics won the toss and elected to bat first on CSG-I ground. The openers Nitin & Dharmender gave them a decent start as 17 runs came in 2.4 overs. Sandeep Ranjan provided the break through as he picked both the openers and wickets kept falling at regular intervals as none of the batsman could make it to double figures. LG Electronics survived for nearly entire allotted quota of 25 overs clearly indicating that runs were not easy to score due to fine bowling that was equally well supported by sharp fielding. Praveen Sharma took 3 wkts to disarray the middle order while Sandeep Rajan picked another 2 wkts to dismiss lower order. IBM Daksh got off to a flying start as Mayur Bora 52 not out & Awaish Mohd 13 runs scored 73 runs off just 7.3 overs to win the match by 9 wkts with bonus point. Mayur Bora hammered the bowlers to pick 8 boundaries and 2 sixes to score his half century in 26 deliveries. The openers Sunil Manocha & Yogesh gave a decent start as they collected 23 runs in 4.4 overs. Cyril Varghese trapped Yogesh leg before wickets to provide the break through. Sunil Manocha who added 17 more to his total for second wkt had to retire due to cram but not before contributing 39 runs along with Vivek to score 62 runs in 10 overs. Abhishek collected his runs in singles & doubles to score 26 runs and shared partnership of 24 runs along with Vivek to reach 86 in 14.2 overs. The fall of 3 quick wickets brought the run rate down but Vikas Verma 26 & Gungan Bhatia 9 runs pushed the score to reach 152 runs at the end of 25 over. Pankaj Sharma & Varun took 2 wkts each while 1 each were taken by Cyril, Sarva & Ponit Sharma but failed to keep check on extras. Kuehne & Nagel contributed one run per over to the score of Fidelity as 24 extras were conceded by them. Kuehne & Nagel failed to make an impressive start as they lost both the openers and two more at the score of 46 runs in 11.1 overs in which Ponit Sharma made contribution of 20 runs. At the score of 53 & 62 two wkts fell respectively while just 16 runs were added to the total. Cyril Varghese 25 & Ritesh 41 shared partnership of 51 runs to come back in game. In particular Ritesh hammered the bowlers for 4 boundaries and 3 sixes not letting Fidelity to make it a cakewalk. Cyril played support roll as he contributed just 7 runs in this partnership but once Abhishek bowled Ritesh the most successful of all the bowlers the odds were back in favor of Fidelity. Asking rate at this point of time was more than 10 runs per over with just 3 wkts in hand. The entire team got out at 133 falling short of target by 20 runs but managed to save the bonus point. The openers Siddharth Rao 7 runs & Prakash Toppo 11 runs collected 16 runs for the 1st wkt. Praksh Toppo was unfortunate to get run out on the score of 26 in 4th over. Amair Hussain who came in to at the fall of 1st wkt played a sensational knock of 91 runs off just 64 deliveries. He took his time to settle down and later smashed 7 boundaries and 4 sixes executing some perfect cricketing shots. Amair along with Atul 44 off 39 balls shared partnership of 131 runs for the 3rd wkt to reach 157 runs in 17.4 overs. Amair contributed 17 runs & Grish Chug 22 runs in the partnership of 40 runs for 4th wicket and took the score to 197 runs in 22.5 overs. Grish Chug and Vineet Chaturvedi put on 23 runs from 2.1 overs to put up a massive total of 220 runs in 25 overs. Atul & Grish not only gave good support to Amair but they themselves played some delighted shots to pick boundaries and picked runs at faster pace. The only bowler to get some success was Amit Singla who took prize wkt of Amair, rest proved expensive as a result they were forced to use 8 bowlers. While chasing the target Eris Khalid 8 & Arpan 14 runs gave a decent start to have 32 runs in 7.3 overs. Second wkt partnership of 19 runs between Eris 12 runs & Lloyd Ireland pushed the total to 51 runs. Tarun Raheja broke these two partnerships and picked another one on the same score. After this wkts fell in quick succession as just 1 runs was made by last 6 batsmen due to super spell by Ankit Bhatia who took all the six wkts to fall later finished with impressive figures containing opponents to 74 runs in 19.1 overs. Global Vantedge won the match by a huge margin of 146 runs and with bonus point. Nokia won the toss and elected to bat on Palam-B ground. They got off to a good start collecting 35 runs of 5.1

overs. Bandhan Dutta 11 runs & Alok Singh 16 shared partnership of 25 runs in which Alok played some good

drives to pick boundaries. Alok Singh went on to score 54 of just 51 balls used the gaps to pick singles and

treated loose deliveries by hitting 8 fours. Alok & Tufeel Quereshi collected 54 runs for the 3rd wkt and took the

score to 114 runs in 16.2 overs. After the fall of these two batsmen Nokia kept losing wickets at regular

intervals and finished on 146 in 25 overs. The last 7 players made only 19 runs as most of the players were

bowled while playing across the line. Prashant Prasannan was the most successful bowler with economical

figure as he took 3 wkts while Vishal Sehgal, Naveen Kr & Ankit Kalra, shared 2 each but all the conceded 21

extra runs. Nokia should have scored at least 30 runs more as they had plenty of overs & wickets in hand at

the completion of 17th over. While chasing the target Wipro lost first wkt for 3 runs and another at 27 runs in 4th

over. Wipro lost 3 more wkts as middle order collapsed completely and batsmen no. 3-4&5 scored just 12 runs.

Ankit Kalra who opened the innings was the only run scorer as he contributed in very partnership & most of the

runs came from his blade. The 4th wkt fell at 56 and Ankit Kalra contributed 35 runs, 5th wkt fell at 83 wherein

he made 57 and last partnership he shared was of 46 runs to reach 129 runs in which his contribution was 81

runs. Nokia could have made a come back while Wipro required 19 runs and Ankit Kalra played a lofted shot to

mid-off but simple catch was dropped. Later Suchit 14 not out & Prashant Prasannan 5 not out did the formality

of collecting the balance runs in 21.1 overs. The winning runs came from wide delivery, which resulted in

boundary while total of 29 extra were gifted away. Tarun Chabbra took 3 wkts to be the most effective of all the

bowlers used. The Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Ankit Kalra for super batting and winning the

match single-handed.

The start was not good as first wicket fell at 7 runs but Manish Marwah 6 & Ritesh 20 runs contributed 32 runs to reach 39 runs in 5.2 overs, both the wkts fell to Ritesh Bhatt. Dheeraj bowled decent line to pick wkts of G.P.Singh & Manish Marwah while just 21 runs were added to the score. Just when Reebok seemed to be under pressure Anish Gautam 32 & Dinesh Tomar 20 shared partnership of 55 runs due to the courtesy of Network program as both the batsmen were dropped twice. Anish took 38 balls to score 44 runs with 3 boundaries & 2 sixes while Dinesh took 19 balls to score 20 runs with 4 boundaries. Sushil broke this partnership as he bowled Dinesh Tomar while Anish Gautam was caught at point of Dheeraj on 120 runs in 17.5 overs. Sandeep Mathur 39 not out & Vishnu Bhagat 31 not out produced a gem of partnership by hammering the bowlers all over the ground. Both the batsmen looked in fine touch as they implemented right technique & strategy giving equal opportunity to each other by rotating the strike. Ritesh Bhat went on make 59 not out runs till end played a very patient knock but got no support from the other partners. The wickets kept falling at regular intervals as all the bowlers used were effective and made contribution by picking wickets to restrict opponents to 146 in 25 overs. Network Program lost the match by 49 runs and also conceded the bonus point. The last 5 batsmen contributed just 8 runs, in fact one good partnership during the later stage could have helped them to at least save the bonus point as they fell short by 10 runs. The Man of the Match was awarded to Vishu Bhagat for his quick fire knock of 31 from 19 balls, captured 2 wickets conceding only 19 runs in 5 overs spell and took 2 brilliant catches as well.

The openers Pabitra 26 & Vivek Srivastava 4 runs gave a good start as they collected 38 runs in 8 overs. Prakash 18 & Shashi Dhar 11 runs put on 22 runs in 3 overs to reach 67 runs after 12.1 overs. Prakash played an attacking knock hammering 3 fours & 3 sixes to score 40 off just 29 balls. He was unfortunate to be run out on 107 runs in 18.2 overs. Sanjeet Prohit 10 runs & Tejinder 10 runs were only players to reach the double figures as rest of the batsmen threw their wkts while attempting rash shots and thus were contained to the score of 142 runs in 25 overs. Amitabh Bhatnagar picked 3 & 2 each were shared by Amit Singla & Siddharth. ABN AMRO got similar kind of start as they also lost first wkt on 38 runs as Shashidhar dismissed Eris Khalid in the 7th over. Arpan Mathur 28 runs along with Amithab Bhatnagar 10 runs collected 26 more to reach 64 runs in 10.3 overs. Arpan Mathur capitalized on the field restrictions during the power play, went on to score 44 runs from 41 balls with 5 boundaries & 2 sixes and later played with complete authority to share another 26 runs partnership to post 90 runs 14.1 overs. Both the partnership for 2nd & 3rd wkt came to end due to nagging line by Shasidhar who bowled both the batsmen. Pabitra picked 4th wkt with out any addition to the total & to add more to the problems of ABN Amro Shasidhar trapped Badrinath & Gaurav behind the stumps for no score and now they were 6 wickets down for 90 runs in 15.2 overs. Llyod Ireland 17 & Amit Singla 39 not out came to the rescue as initially Llyod went after the bowlers & later gave strike to his partner who was timing the ball with exception. He superbly struck 5 boundaries & a six to collect 56 runs from just 48 balls to register victory in 23.2 overs. Axalto could have done better as they should have given opportunity to Pavitra who gave only 13 runs in his 4 overs to bowl his last overs and break this partnership. Shashidhar in spite of picking 5 wickets with impressive figures could not be named Man of the Match as Amit Singla played exceptionally well to nearly win a lost battle for his side and making sure that his team is still in the contention for the next round.

Deepak Sharma was trapped in front of the stumps by Sanjeev Kumar while Jeetinder Diwan who added 8 more to his total was caught at cover by Neeraj off Pradeep Kumar on 43 runs in 8.5 overs. Sachin Mehta 54 & Amit Verma 34 runs shared partnership of 93 runs for the 3rd wicket to reach 136 run in 22.2 overs. Both the batsmen took their time to settle and collected runs mostly in singles. Sachin Mehta took 30 ball to score 18 runs still managed to lift his individual scoring rate while Amit Verma who took 20 balls to score just 9 runs played 15 dot balls, built the pressure on himself and later lost his wkt while attempting to clear the field. Sachin Mehta who smashed 21 runs off last 10 deliveries faced added 12 more to his total and collected 18 runs for 4th wkt to reach 154 runs in 23.2 overs. Manik Kumar 12 & Sumit 6 runs later pushed the score to 163 in 25 overs. Valvoline bowled well to concede only 8 extra runs in the entire innings and their field placing was up to the mark. Valvoline cashed on the field restriction as their opener Saud Ahmed 29 runs of 15 balls collected 32 in just 3 overs. Jeetinder Diwan provided good break through as he took the wkt of Sandeep Kalia on 34 runs while attacking Saud was already back in pavilion. Pradeep kumar 31 & Sandeep Kastha 38 runs were simply unstoppable as they scored nearly run a ball to share partnership of 75 runs and hammered 4 boundaries & a six each to reach 109 in just 14.4 overs. ICICI got another good break as Hinamshu was bowled Sachin on 113 runs at the completion 16.4 overs and provided a chance to make a come back. Pradeep Kumar added 13 more runs & Vikas Kaushal 20 of just 18 balls reached 151 in 21.5 overs virtually made sure victory for their side. Later Pradeep Kumar who made 49 not out missed on his half centaury by 1 run along with Bhupender Singh 11 not out reached the target comfortably in 23.4 overs. All the bowlers left on an expensive note except Amit Verma who gave only 15 runs off his 5 overs. The Man of the Match was awarded to Pradeep Kumar for his all round display. This is the biggest upset of the tournament so far as a semi finalist team has lost their first match. Well-played Valvoline.

The openers Christy Joshi 22 & Sachin Sharma 8 runs took the advantage of field restrictions to collect 39 runs in 4.4 overs. The runs came at similar pace as Christy reached 45 & Nitin Kaushal 18 runs to share partnership of 43 runs and reach 82 runs in 9.2 overs. At the score of 91 runs Gautam Agarwal picked 2 wkts without any addition to the total as he bowled Parul Jain for 7 runs and later completely deceived & surprised Tanay Sharma for no score. Christy played sensibly to collect 21 individually and shared partnership of 34 runs for the 5th wkt taking the score to 125 runs in 18 overs. As this partnership looked dangerous Narhari trapped Ezlal and just when 5 runs were added to the score Christy was dismissed by Nasheed when a well judged catch was taken at long off. NDTV failed to contain oponents in the slog overs as Praveen Verma 10 & Pradeep Negi 11 not out added 20 more to finish at big total of 177 runs in 25 overs. NDTV fielding was not up to the mark and some half chances could not be converted into catches as no efforts were made to reach the ball. Gautam Agarwal bowled exceptionally well to pick 3 wkts while Narhari little expensive took 2 wkts. NDTV was in deep trouble as they lost 6 wickets for 28 runs as Ezlal 3 wkts & Tanay Sharma 2 wkts did most of the damage. Ranjeet 21 & Amit Kumar 18 made some recovery as they put on 38 runs for the 7th wkt to reach 66 runs in 6.5 overs. Parul Jain who broke this partnership to take the wkt of Ranjeet also ran out Amit Kumar due to sharp fielding on 73 runs in 8.1 overs. The openers collected 22 runs in 4.1 overs but Rajeev Khanna 29 & Vikas Keer 45 consolidated the innings by collecting 80 runs for the 2nd wkt in 12 overs. Both of them mostly played ground shots as ball was coming nicely on to the bat and took no undue risk. Vikas dealt in boundaries also placed the ball in gaps to pick doubles, ran for first run quickly forcing the fielders to make error but was bowled by Vivek when he played across the line. Vivek struck again to take dismiss Atul Gupta, picking all the 3 wkts to fall. Next wicket to fall was of Rajeev Khanna 44 run out only way could have got out as he middled the ball and looked comfortable against all the bowlers. Maruti got another success at 126 runs as Amit Wadhwa was caught behind of Vidhur Kaushik to put some restriction on flow of runs. Vishal Sharma 11 & Nitin Kumar 16 runs collected 28 runs in 15 balls but Vidhur Kaushik came to rescue again by picking the wkt of Nitin Kumar. Unbeaten knock of 30 runs from Vishal enabled Xansa to post a big total of 184 in 25 overs. Maruti used the option of Super Sub replacing Rohit Bhatti in place of Atul Chaphekar in 16th over but did not use him properly, was taken out of attack after first over while he had picked one wkt giving 6 runs. Maruti got off to a bad start as they lost 5 wickets for 31 runs on board due to superb spell by Pankaj Kalia picking all the five wickets falling in his first 3 overs. Vidhur Kaushik 24 of 17 balls was the only batsman to show some resistance to good bowling from Xansa and scored most of the runs. Nikhilesh Sharma made 32 runs and was playing with lot of responsibility. He shared 2 vital partnership of 40 & 19 runs wherein Jitin Makkar 11 & Ajay Arora 10 runs gave him good support but could not convert this into big one. Kunal Puri broke this partnership as he bowled Vivek and later took another one with no run added to the previous total. Just when 5 runs were scored Kunal Puri struck again to dismiss Deepak & Pratul for no score to restrict their opponents to 51 runs for the loss of 5 wkts in 9.4 overs. IAF won the toss and opted to bat first in a match played on Palam-A ground. The first wicket fell at 11 runs as Umar Faruky bowled AVM M. Sundram for 8 runs in second over. Imran Khan 15 & Wg Cdr. Ghosh collected 17 run for the 2nd wkt to reach 28 runs in 4.2 overs but Hitender Hans bowled superbly to dismissed Imran Khan. D. Bhaskar 4 runs innings came to end due to fine stumping by Sanjay Rathor of Manish Sharma while just 13 runs were added to the total. Hitender struck again sending back Wg Cdr. Ghosh while he added just one run & scored board showing 43 runs for the loss of 4 wkts in 6.4 overs. Harish Bhaskar 41 & S.K. Ojha 29 runs did the repair work as both these batsmen pushed the ball in gaps, rotated the strike to share partnership of 80 runs and reached 123 runs in 20.2 overs. moisture in it. The openers Abhishek 20 & Ritesh 24 runs gave a good start as they collected 47 runs of 8.3

overs. Dheeraj Walia picked the first wkt while Dheeraj Bhat bowled Ritesh for 27 runs on 59 runs. Vikas (20

runs) and Ankit Malhotra (25 runs) shared partnership of 43 runs for the 3rd wkt while rotating the strike & took

the maximum advantage of bad deliveries to collect boundaries. Nitin Mittal broke this partnership and later

when just 8 were added to the total dismissed Arun on 108 runs, Rtiesh Bhat caught both the batsmen at

covers. TCS lost another at same score as Ritesh bowled Jayendra for no score but Vikas went on to score 41

runs and collected 44 runs for the 6th wkt as Annu Dhaiya who played sensibly to gave him good support taking

Citi Financial reached the target in 11.1 overs as openers Sandeep Gambhir scored 72 off 55 balls while Satyen Mehra 12 off 12 balls ensured the victory by 10 wickets. British Gas had the opportunity to break in early but their fielder let them down by giving 2 chances each to both the openers. HCL Technologies on winning the toss decided to bat first on DDA Sports Complex ground. Chhabil Aggarwal

was first to be dismissed for no score by Vishal Sehgal on 18 runs while Aditya Kishore scored all the 18 runs.

Aditya Kishore added 32 to his total reaching half-century off 31balls hammering the bowlers for 5 boundaries

& 3 sixes to share partnership of 55 runs with Amit Gangal 15 runs & reached 73 runs in 8.1 overs. The fall of 2

quick wkts while just 17 runs came in saw 90 runs on board. Nitin Goel 16 & Shashank Singh 14 runs worked

runs. This was more of teamwork as partnerships developed for all the wickets and every player contributed to post

reasonable target. G.P. Singh & Vishnu Bhagat claimed 2 wkts each for Reebok. Reebok started on a positive note as

G.P.Singh 12 & Anish Gautam 31 went after the bowlers due to power play was on collected 45 runs in 5.2 overs. The

spin attack was introduced early in the innings and it paid off as Sanjeev Sharma first bowled G.P. Singh & then bowled

Anish for 41 runs. Ritesh on 25 runs & Abhilash on 17 runs were going on nicely collected 34 runs with out many

problems. 79 runs were required from 78 deliveries when Ritesh played a very irresponsible shot to throw his wicket.

Vivek Dwivedi took the wkt of Sandeep Mathur on 128 runs while run out of Abhilash on 38 runs as he took substitute

reasonable total of 134 runs in 20.3 overs. After breaking this partnership EXL bowlers bowled good line &

fielders also applied themselves to restrict Pepsi to 155 runs. EXL Service got off to a decent start as Kapil 15

& Kunal Punj 18 picked 36 runs off 6.5 overs. Both the openers were out when the team total was 36 runs but

Anurag Singh 39 runs & Franklyn 60 not out collected 114 runs for the 3rd wkt to put on 150 on the board.

EFUNDS decided to bat first on GGS College after winning the toss. Opto bowled well to restrict EFUNDS to

just 30 runs in power play and also dismissed their 3 top order batsmen. Prashant was the only batsman who

applied himself & took his time to get the feel & pace of the wicket. He held his one end while wkts were falling

at regular intervals from the other end. Yogesh & Chris bowled superbly early in the inning & fielders also

complemented them with 3 run outs. Later Vijay Tyagi bowled well to take 2 wkts of lower middle order

batsmen. Prashant stood there & was not hassled by the good team combination displayed by Opto Group. His

knock was treat to watch as he paced his knock to perfection and accelerated at the right moment. EFUNDS

took a leaf from Opto Group & came back as a team to make things difficult for Opto Group while chasing a

modest total. Opto was 20 for 3 wkts after 7 overs when Himanshu & Vijay Tyagi came together to take their

team out of trouble. They put on 86 run for the 4th wkt off 88 deliveries. 42 runs were required from 30

deliveries when Himanshu got out trying to hit Bhupinder out of ground. In the 23rd over, Hardeep got the

Xansa won the toss & decided to bat first on CSG-I ground. The first wkt fell at 7 runs but Rajeev Khanna 24 &

Vikas Keer 16 runs did the repair work to collect 36 runs and reached 43 runs. Farookh took both the wkts as

he trapped Raja LBW & later bowled Vikas Keer. Rajeev Khanna concentrated hard to keep his end intact and

kept building small partnerships to take the score to 89 runs in 11.4 overs. Vivek broke this partnership by

dismissing Rajeev immediately after he completed his half century from 44 deliveries. Abraham Joseph bowled

superb spell to pick next 4 wkts and demolish middle order as with addition of 24 runs opponents managed to

put on 113 in 17.2 overs. Nitin Kumar (18 runs) & Vishal Jhingan (14 off 14 balls) managed to put on 23 runs

Vivek Krishnan who added 16 more to his total & Sanjay Rathor 13 runs held the innings together to score 32

runs for 4th wkt and reached 78 runs in 11.4 overs. Anuj Bhatia broke this partnership & provided another wkt

on 113 runs as he trapped Sanjay Rathor LBW on individual score of 33 runs. Sanjay & Abraham had

contributed 35 runs for the 5th wicket and game was in favour of Delphi but a poor selection of shot brought the

Nokia on wining the toss decided to bat first on Palam-B ground. The good start was given by Samar Mittal 18 & Tufeel

Quereshi 7 runs while 8 runs from extra helped score to reach 33 runs in 5.1 overs. Alok Singh scored 15 runs for the

second & another 5 from extra saw score as 53 runs in 7.5 overs. Tufeel Quereshi was run out but Alok Singh & Rajesh

shared partnership of 43 runs to reach 96 runs in 13.3 overs. Amit Handu who picked the wkt of Alok also had Rajesh

Nihalani out stumped on same score. Murthy Sharma & Arvind Singhal shared partnership of good 37 runs in 5 overs.

Murthy Sharma went on to score unbeaten 34 runs off 29 balls, not only played a chance less innings also struck 3

boundaries to help his team to reach 174 runs in 25 overs. HCL Technologies conceded 36 extra runs and in all dropped

5 catches, which allowed Nokia to post a stiff target. While chasing Sameer Kapoor 8 & Amit Gangal 27 runs played

attacking shots to recover from an early loss of first wkt on 7 runs and took the score to 43 runs. Amit Gangal was caught

openers as Vineet Chaturvedi 28 & Prakash Toppo 30 runs cashed on field restrictions during the power play

to put on 80 runs in 10.4 overs. Both the openers got out on 81 runs as Pabitra Pal bowled Vineet & Prakash

was unfortunate to get run out by deflection through bowler. Pabitra Pal struck once again to claim 2 more wkts

while Sashidhar removed Siddharth Rao LBW to restrict opponents for 105 runs in 15.1 overs. Grishi Chug 29

runs played very well to share 2 partnerships of 14 runs each for the 6th-7th wkt and pushed the score to 133

runs. Pabitra Pal bowled superbly to break both the partnerships but Sumit Patial 20 not out first collected 24

runs for along with Grish Chug & later collected 13 runs for 9th wkt to post 170 runs on board. The 23 runs for

the last wkt in which Adesh Awasti 20 runs not out hammered 4 boundaries while Sumit stood their adding just

Hutch won the toss & invited opponents to bat first on Palam-A ground. The decision paid off as two wkts fell

on 12 runs as Ezlal & Tanay Sharma provided the break through. Sandeep Kalia who opened the innings

stood there to support Saud Ahmed who was going great guns. He hammered 37 runs off just 16 balls, struck

4 boundaries that raced to fence in a flash & 3 huge sixes to share a partnership of 42 runs for 3rd wkt and

quickly reached to 54 runs in 6.5 overs. Ezlal bowled dangerous looking Saud but Vikas played very cautiously

to score 18 runs. The entire team of Valvoline fell like a pack of cards to be dismissed on 95 runs as Ezlal 3

wkt, Tufail Ahmed 3 wkts & Parul Jain 2 wkts did not allow any partnerships to develop and picked wkts at

regular intervals. Hutch made it look very simple as openers Christy Joshi 29 runs off 18 balls & Anil Gaur 6

runs hammered the bowlers to pick 7 boundaries and take the score to 44 runs off 28 balls. Pradeep Kumar

took the first wkt as Ramesh caught Christy brilliantly at mid-on while Sanjeev Kumar dismissed Nitin on 44

runs to put some restriction on flow of runs. The run out of super substitute Anil Gaur while going in for

unnecessary run on 53 resulted in fall of 3rd wicket. Another 2 wkts by Sanjeev Kumar as he dismissed both

Anurag Dua 4 & Sachin for 11 runs to a sharp return catch added to the problems of Hutch & made them

struggle for very run. Hutch batsmen played irresponsible shots and lost 2 more wkts at the score of 72 runs.

Hutch was in trouble as they had to score 24 more runs with just 3 wkts in hand. Parul Jain 13 not out & Sachin

12 not out took no risk knowing that plenty of overs are still to be bowled. They played every ball on its merits

to collect 24 runs to reach the target in 15.4 overs. Hutch won the match with bonus to qualify for next round

but this was not an easy victory as opponents made them struggle till the end & this was acknowledge by the

first wkt while Ramesh Negi trapped P. Ramrakhani LBW on 15 runs as 12 runs came for the second wkt.

Sanjay Khanna (29 runs) & S.K. Rampal (48 runs off 45 balls) came together at the score of 41 runs and

developed a partnership of 80 runs. They concentrated more on placement and scored 64 runs by running

hard between the wickets. This pair took the score to 121 runs in 19.4 overs. Godwin Toppo bowled Rampal to

end this partnership & Sanjay on 36 runs was unfortunate to be run out when the total was 125 runs by

Ramesh Negi. NTPC had 6 wkts in hand with 5 overs remaining, could have made more than 154 runs but

bowlers of HUDCO bowled within the stumps to concede only 29 runs during the slog overs. HUDCO while

brilliantly caught Ashish Prasad on 8 off his own bowling. Satvik Srivastava made 48 runs off 43 balls and

remained not out till end to share 3 partnerships of 22-37-19 for the 5th-6th&7th wkt respectively. He was

connecting the ball well to hit 7 boundaries and most of them were a treat to watch. NIIT managed to post

modest total of 136 runs in 25 overs as the bowlers gave no room and fielders backed them as well. Reliance

Infocom openers gave the best start of the tournament as Mohan Kumar 27 & Ashish Khanna who was more

severe on bowlers, hit 9 boundaries to make 48 runs off 36 balls and took the score to 90 runs in 12.4 overs.

Mohan Kumar added 28 runs for the 2nd wkt with Pankaj to reach 118 runs after 17 overs. Reliance Infocom

going for bonus point to keep the hope alive to qualify for knockout depending on the winner of match between

NIIT & Opto Group lost 6 wkts on 132 runs in 19.2 overs. They required 4 runs off 4 balls and at one stage they

needed 1 run off 1 ball, which finally they achieved to defeat NIIT in 20 overs. Hemant Nayar came in as super

substitute picked the wkts of both the openers finished with tally of 3 wkts and was most economical &

successful bowler. NIIT should have introduced him early as Reliance Infocom had already scored enough to

HCL Technologies on winning the toss invited Birlasoft to bat first on CSG-I ground as wicket had some

moisture in it. The early break through was provided by Shashank on 13 runs but Kunal Hando (39 runs) &

Abhinav Shankar (23 runs) took no risk to consolidate the inning as Kunal went after the bowlers while Abhinav

placed the ball in gaps to rotate the strike and posted 66 runs partnership for 2nd wkt. Kunal reached his half-

century with 6 boundaries & a six off 45 deliveries but was dismissed on 52 runs as he collected 27 runs for the

3rd wkt and his team total was 106 runs after 16.2 overs. HCL came back strongly to restrict Birlasoft to 154

runs as in last 5 overs they managed to score just 21 runs due to fine bowling and committed efforts in the field

resulted in 2 run outs. Shashank & Amit Gangal also picked 2 wkts to break the flourishing partnership in the

middle of the innings. HCL Technologies collected 17 runs for the first wkt but Rajnish Chandra in his second

over bowled Abhishek for no score & later trapped Amit Gangal LBW for 2 runs. Aditya Kishore 14 runs was

next to go as Nitin Bali bowled him on 23 runs. Atul Kumar only applied himself to stay on the wicket and

Agilent Technologies won the toss & made a mistake to invite Daksh to bat first on AAI ground. The early dent

was made as they managed to pick the wkt of Mayur Bora, consistent run getter on 8 runs. Charanjeet Singh

32 & & Prateek 20 runs initially looked for gaps & after getting use to the bounce, collected runs through

boundaries to score 56 runs in 8 overs as the power play was on. The contribution of 40 runs for the 3rd wkt

between Prateek Kapoor (who quickly reached 39) & Pradeep Deswal (15 runs) kept rotating the strike to pick

runs easily but Pradeep was bowled on a good delivery from Vikram Singh. Prateek was next to go as he

attempted to clear the field and was stumped off Rohit. Praveen made 38 runs off 40 balls to share partnership

of 32 runs for the 5th wkt and helped his side to reach 171 runs in 25 overs. Aglient bowlers removed the last 7

batsmen for 20 runs as most of them got out while trying wild shots. Rohit Choudhry was the most successful

Ericsson surprised the opponents as Vikas bowled Mirnal Bharati for no score and on score of 26 runs

removed Aman & Ritesh in the 5th over. Ghosh was scoring most of the runs, as his individual score was 21

out of 26 runs on board. He shared partnership of 41 with Rajiv 12 runs to provide some stability as they took

the score to 67 runs at the completion of 11th over. Ghosh looked in fine touch as he struck 6 boundaries & a

six but was unfortunate to be run out by Manish on the total of 70 runs. A good partnership of 32 runs between

Rajnish 19 hitting 3 boundaries & Madhwan 7 runs but Mainsh Kumar first removed Madhwan & later with no

Joginder Sehgal early on 21 runs as both the openers looked in fine touch. The partnership of 67 runs between

Gagan Jain (32) & Arijit Mukhrjee (34) playing with complete authority struck 8 boundaries & a six forced

opponents to remove the power play after 8 overs. Arijit scored 51 off just 38 balls before being bowled by

early the wkt of Karan Veer Singh on 11 runs but Gaurav Shukla (42 runs) played a quick fire knock to hit 8

boundaries and collected 43 runs for the 2nd wkt with Ashish Rao to post 54 runs in 10 overs. The wkts of

Gaurav & Ashish fell on the same score but Diwakar 13 & Sushant 8 runs pushed the score to 78 runs by

chipping the ball in gaps. Sandeep Gambhir broke the partnership & Rajeev Arora got Diwakar stumped while

Flextronics Software Vs LG Electronics

LG Electronics on winning the toss invited opponents to bat on Harbaksh Stadium despite being one player

short. Flextronics made a good start to collect 18 runs in the first over as Ashwani Dosaj struck 2 boundaries

from the first 2 balls he faced and another one on 5th delivery but Praveen Kumar was run out in 2nd over by

Rishi to pick the 1st wicket. Aswani Dosaj looked in great touch and hit 2 more boundaries and with Jalaj Puri

(10 runs) added 24 for the 2nd wkt in no time to maintain an excellent run rate of 8.4 run per over after 5 overs.

Flextornics were unfortunate to lose another wkt due to run out as Rajiv Anand from a fine throw first saw the

back of Jalaj & with no addition to the total bowled Ashwani Dosaj. The partnerships of 19-12-11 runs for the

4th-5th&6th wkts respectively helped the side to put on 84 runs. The fall of another 3 quick wkts at the score of

102 seemed that opponents will be restricted to a low total but Sandeep Sharma 9 not out & last batsman

Rajat Kalra 29 runs off 26 balls surprised very one as he hammered the bowlers to hit 3 boundaries & a six. He

played like an established batsmen and this pair collected 46 runs from 42 deliveries to enable their side to put

on defending total of 148 runs in 23.5 overs. All the bowlers used by LG manage to pick wkts but fine efforts in

the field to run out 5 batsmen & two coming early in the innings added to the pressure. LG made much better

start as Rishi Tandon (15 runs) & Gaurav Roy (36 runs) provided solid foundation by scoring 60 runs in 8.1

overs. Both the batsmen showed good understanding while picking runs in single & double. Gaurav added

another 24 runs while Kshitiz Saxena 31 off 31 balls played elegant drives to hit 5 boundaries & availed very

opportunity to pick run in singles and posted 116 runs from 15.4 overs. At this stage match took another turn

when Ashwani ran out Gaurav & later dismissed Kshitiz with any addition to his individual score. Ashish Mishra

provided hope to make a come back as he bowled Dharmender for no score to pick the 4th wkt while

scoreboard was unmoved. LG required 34 runs from remaining 8.4 overs with six wkts in hand. Flextronics did

manage to pick 8 wkts in the end but with few small individual contributions they reached the target in 24.3

overs. This resulted in major upset as Flextronics made an early exit from the tournament while the benefit of

this victory went into the lap of Agilent Technologies who entered the knockout stage because of better-run

Reebok won the toss & decided to bat first on Palam-B ground. The decision paid off as openers Manish

Marwah 46 & Anish Gautam 40 runs shared partnership of 105 in 11 overs. Manish played elegant cover

drives, timed the ball to perfection & found the gaps on most of the occasion while Anish went after the blowers

& took his chances to go over the top during the power play. The first success came when Manish was run out

by Ashish Tyal & second wkt fell soon when Dinesh Tomar stepped out to clear the field and was stumped as

Ashish deceived him in air on score of Nelson. Anish Gautam (48 runs) continued to play in similar fashion

without hesitating to lift the ball while Ritesh Saxena (16 runs) provided maximum strike to him. They

contributed 69 runs for the 3rd wkt and posted 180 runs in 19.3 overs. Ritesh went to score 39 runs while G.P.

Singh 17 not out worked on singles & took the advantage of bad balls to reach a huge total of 227 runs in 25

overs. TCS bowlers proved to be very expensive as they could not bowl according to their field & gifted 32 runs

extra. 27 runs came as a result of miss fielding & in all dropped 9 catches which could have made a difference

in restricting opponents to lesser total. TCS were in deep trouble as they lost 3 wkts for 19 runs to have extra

pressure on them. Vikas Gupta took the responsibility on himself and played with extra care to rotate the strike.

Vikas shared partnership of 47 runs for the 4th wkt with Akshay Mann (27 off 23 balls) to give some stability by

reaching 66 runs in 10.5 overs. Sandeep Mathur not only broke this dangerous looking partnership but also

took 3 more wickets to demolish the middle order. Vikas who held the fort from one end reached his individual

total of 45 runs and collected 23 for the 9th wkt while Tapabrate Neogi who contributed 9 runs in this

Opto Group Vs NIIT Opto Group won the toss & decided to bat on Harbaksh Stadium. The openers collected 18 runs in 5.3 overs, as bowlers

gave no room to take any liberty and made them struggle for runs. The second wkt fell on 26 runs while 8.4 overs had

been completed. In order to step up the run rate batsmen took risk to go for unnecessary runs which resulted in 2 run

outs. Satvik initiated first run out & Pankaj Wadhawan was short of his crease when Ashish scored a direct hit from long

off. Gurjot Sethi lucky to survive on 10 runs shared a partnership of 21 runs for the 5th wkt wherein Yogesh Sharma who

struck 4 boundaries and pushed the total to 59 runs in 15.5 overs scored 19 runs. Gurjot Sethi & Cresswell Dickson (11

runs) shared a very useful partnership of 36 runs for the 6th wkt to reach 95 runs. Hemant Nayar broke this partnership &

just 1 run more to the total struck again to dismiss Gurjot as Ashish Prasad took a brilliant catch at covers. The rest of the

batsmen contributed just 9 runs as Satvik in his first over took a wkt while Hemant Nayar bowled Anil Choudhary to pick

his 3rd wkt and brought end to their innings at 104 runs by running out Parvez Khan. NIIT displayed superb teamwork as

they not only bowled well, threw themselves to save runs and also gathered the ball cleanly to have few run outs. NIIT

made a good start as they collected 32 runs in 4.5 overs as Prashant Nambiar 21 & Saurabh 8 runs attacked the bowlers

to pick 5 boundaries and scored quickly during the power play restrictions. Opto had to save bonus point and also had to

maintain a better-run rate to qualify for the next round as NIIT already was out of contention but they were playing more

for pride. The Captain of Opto Group made a good move by not continuing with the power play to have more fielders out

side 30 yards circle to restrict the flow of runs. Anil Choudhary took the first wkt as Saurabh was stumped by Yogender

Negi while Kanwal Wadhawan took a well judge return catch to send back Manoj Das for no score on 35 runs. Another

blow by Anil Choudhary with just 1 more run on board as Ashish Prasad established batsman for NIIT was caught at

cover by V. Tyagi with out making any individual contribution was 3rd wkt to fall in the 7

th over. Satvik 8 & Prashant who

reached 34 runs added 18 for the 4th wkt but Kanwal Wadhawan once again with fine delivery removed wkt of well-settled

Prashant while score reached 54 runs in 9.5 overs. Satvik made another 15 runs & Amit 14 runs were not able to score

freely due to perfect line kept by the bowlers saw many dot balls. The pressure of being in such a situation allowed them

to make only 35 runs in 67 balls to put on 89 runs at the completion of 21st over. Opto till now managed to succeed in their

game plan as they knew they had very little to defend but in case they can force NIIT till the very last over they will give

them some chance to qualify for the next round inspite of losing this match. Ashish Kohli 15 runs not out scored the

remaining runs in the 22.5 overs to register victory but committed efforts from Opto Group not only saved the bonus point

also forced NIIT to play these many over which made them to qualify on better run rate. The Reebok Man of the Match

was awarded to Prashant Namibiar for putting up courageous knock. The strength of NIIT is their team combination that

they displayed when they were out of the tournament. Had they played with this combination from the start of the

tournament, things would have been different. NIIT went out of the tournament telling other corporate teams that

they are a very good team and we at Eventus, are very sure that they will bounce back in the coming

tournaments.

Reliance & Opto Group had 7 point each after the 3 league games but Reliance failed to qualify as they in their

last league match at one stage were close to the target in 12 overs but took another 8 overs to finish the match

which saw considerable drop in their run rate.

ICICI Bank Vs Opto Group

ICICI won the toss and opted to bat first in a match played on CSG-I ground. The openers gave a fine start as Ankur 30 & Sharry Sharma 21 runs scored freely during the extended power play to put 58 runs on the board after 8 overs. Ankur was out trying to step up the run rate further but Sharry 36 & Sumit 15 shared 27 runs partnership for 2

nd wicket to reach 85

runs in 11.4 overs. Sharry who survived a chance on 31 runs made another error to play across the line to Kanwal wadhawan and created unnecessary pressure. Kanwal took another wkt on 89 to see the back of Sachin Mehta while he was on 2 runs. Sumit was out on 103 runs while Jitender Diwan who took 21 balls to score 16 runs got frustrated and went for another big shot to be out caught at long on by Parvez Khan to lose the 5

th wkt on 111 runs. Rakesh Bhatnagar

reached 14 runs while they lost another 3 wkts quickly were struggling at 126 for 8 in 21.1 overs from 85 for 1 in 11.3 overs. Yogesh Sharma bowled within the stumps to claim all the 3 wickets. This was the time when Opto relaxed and ICICI Bank took the advantage through Rakesh Bhatanagar (30 not out off 24 balls) and Kishore Talukdar (18 not out) to share an unbeaten partnership of 34 runs and helped their side to achieve a defending total of 160 runs in 25 overs. Opto were in trouble right from the begning as they lost wkts frequently. Except for the partnership of 27 runs for the 4

th wkt

between Himanshu Anand 10 & Vijay Tyagi 14 runs all the batsmen struggled against the bowers to lose 7 wkts for just 56 runs on board. The 2 wkts each by Ankur, Sachin & Vivek Chadha who took the prize wkts of Himanshu & Vijay brought about the downfall of Opto Group. Yogesh Sharma took the crease at the fall of 7

th wkt scored 31 runs by taking single-

doubles as fielders were either on 30 yards circle or in deep, struck 3 boundaries and shared partnership of 44 runs with Pankaj (12 runs). Sharry Sharma broke this partnership as Deepak removed the bails in flash when Pankaj could not keep his balance. Yogesh lucky to be dropped on 28 runs adopted the same strategy of picking the gaps & fancy his chances to go over the top to hit 2 more boundaries & a six to enable his side reach 138 in 23 overs. At this stage Opto required 23 runs off 12 balls but Jitender Diwan in 24

th over conceded just four runs and also dragged Anil out of crease while Deepak

Rajnish Chandra picked 2 wkts & fine efforts in field resulted in 2 run out by Vishal 7 Abhinav created pressure on opponents. Vikram Singh (26 runs) did the bulk of scoring to collect 32 runs for the 6th wkt and played few elegant shots to hit 5 boundaries. His knock helped the side to post 56 runs at the completion of 14th over. Nitin Bali bowled Vikram on 32 runs and that saw the collapse of entire team on 86 runs. The batsmen at lower order could not reach double figures as they made wild attempts to lift the run rate and ended in putting up a low total. For Birlasoft Nitin & Gaurav picked 2 wkts each while Ajay took 1 wkt to bowl exceptionally well and finished with fine figures. Birlasoft openers gave good start in reply as Kunal Handu (29 runs) & Naveen Kumar (9 runs) were in no hurry and took their time to get used to the wicket and worked the ball in gaps to share partnership of 43 runs from 9.5 overs. NTPC Vs Nokia NTPC on wining the toss elected to bat first on Harbaksh Stadium. The wicket was flat & dry as D. Gulati struck 2 good cover drives to hit boundaries in first over and collected 15 runs from 3.4 overs. Alok provided the break through while Tufail took 2 wkts and Soumendra bowled exceptionally well to take 3 wkts. NTPC was struggling at 49 for 6 after 10 overs when Suba Rao and Deepak Nagar came together and started building the innings with sensible batting. They both shared a very useful partnership of 62 runs for the 7th wicket wherein Suba Rao scored 29 & Deepak Nagar contributed 25 runs. This partnership was broken by a superb piece of fielding by Ranjit at the score of Nelson. Suba Rao added another 6 runs to his individual score when he was again run out by a direct throw from Ranjit. It was commendable to see the way Suba Rao and Deepak ran between the wickets to convert single into doubles. NTPC finally managed to post good total of 135 runs in 25 overs. Nokia responded with a positive approach as openers Tufail 19 & Ranjit 12 runs never hesitated to drive and struck boundaries on bad deliveries. Tufail was first to go when he was caught in front of the wickets on the bowling of Rajeev. P. Ramrakhani bowled intelligently to pick 2 quick wkts of Alok & Rajesh by not giving any room to the batsmen and forced them to make mistakes. Ranjit (23 runs) & Arvind Singhal (15 runs) shared partnership of 29 runs to bring some stability and when things were looking good for Nokia, A. P. Hutch Vs Supreme Court Supreme Court won the toss and elected to bat on Harbaksh Stadium. The openers gave best start to their team as Subendru Ghosh 41 & Mrinal Bharti 35 posted 79 runs in 11.2 overs. Both the batsmen played elegant cover drive & pull shots to hit 12 boundaries and hammering the bowlers to all parts of ground. Subendru Ghosh survived on 3 occasions as he was dropped at the score of 22, 31 & 39 runs. He went on to complete his half-century and shared another good partnership of 29 runs with Ritesh Singh (16 runs) to reach 108 in 16.5 overs. Parul Jain conceded 21 runs from his first 2 overs but made a good come back by taking 2 wkts and applied brakes on flow of runs. Supreme Court was on 137 for the loss of 5 wkts but Madhavan & Rajnish during the slog overs scored quickly to post a competitive total of 169 runs in 25 overs. Hutch lost half the battle when their attacking batsmen Christy Joshi who struck 2 cracking boundaries in the very first over was caught at point on the last delivery of the same over. Ritesh Singh gave the 2nd blow on 15 runs as Anurag Dua was caught behind. Vikas 9 & Sachin Sharma 22 off 18 balls did the repair work as they gathered 38 runs for the 3rd wicket. Rajnish who bowled a very consistent line made the batsmen struggle and forced them to make errors. After this wkt fell at regular interval as Mirnal Bharti took 3 wkts and restricted their opponents to just 93 runs in 19.1 overs. The last 7 wkts to fall contributed only 26 runs & none of them made it to double figures. The Reebok Man of the Match was given to Mirnal Bharti for his all round performance.

Xansa Vs Hewlett Packard

HP won the toss and elected to bat on Harbaksh Stadium. Vishal Arya made a good start as he went after the

bowlers and picked 15 runs from first 10 deliveries he faced. He carried on in style to hit the fastest fifty of the

tournament in 28 balls. He shared partnership of 93 runs with Sunil Pandita to post 118 on board after 16

overs. But after his fall wickets started to fell at regular intervals and HP were bowled out for 137 runs in 23.1

overs. For Xansa all the bowlers chipped in with wickets as their fielders provided good support. The openers

gave a decent start as Atul Gupta 10 & Rajeev Khanna 17 collected 27 runs in 4.3 overs. Vivek provided the

first break through as he bowled Rajeev Khanna. Atul with couple of more runs & Vikas 10 pushed the score to

39 runs but Vishal Arya bowled Atul to pick 2nd wkt. Vikas played very well and struck 3 boundaries to score 26

runs quickly while Raja Kamboj 12 runs kept the score board moving to post 67 runs in 9.5 overs. Rakesh

Choudhary provided the break through and Xansa was in more trouble as Anil Bali took the wkt of Vikas Kheer

with no addition to his total. Vishal came to the rescue scored 17 runs & Amit Gupta 22 runs picked the gaps to

gather 39 runs for the 5th wkt reached 107 in 17.2 overs. Anil Bali took his 2nd wkt brought end to the

partnership. Vishal collected another 17 runs to reach 34 & I.J. Thomas 16 runs took no risk chipped the ball

for single & picked odd boundaries to bring in a very useful partnership of 33 runs and came close to the

target. But Vishal Arya struck again to remove Vishal Jhingan, the 7th wkt to fall on 130 runs. I. J Thomas &

Anuj Bhatia made the remaining run to win the match by 3 wkts & enter the pre quarterfinal of the tournament.

GENPACT (1) Vs Xansa (16)

Xansa won the toss & invited GENPACT to bat first in on DDA sports complex. GENPACT lost 2 wkts quickly as both the openers were back in pavilion on 12 runs. In the partnership of 33 runs for 3rd wkt Arijit contributed 25 runs to help his side recover from early loss. Arijit contributed 13 runs in the partnership of 22 runs for the 4th wicket with Manmohan before being dismissed on his individual score of 43 runs and taking team total to 67 runs in 10.2 overs. I.J. Thomas dismissed both the batsmen as Vishal & Vikas made no mistake in holding on to regulation catches. Pankaj Kalia who provided the first break through then bowled S.Karthickyen while Gaurav Sehgal dismissed in similar fashion to Anuj on 81 runs. GENPACT was struggling at this stage but Manmohan carried his innings to 35 runs with few boundaries & Danish 12 runs ensured to keep the score moving put on 109 but Anuj Bhatia trapped Danish LBW to pick his 2nd wkt. Manmohan changed the strategies became more aggressive as he collected 42 runs off last 22 balls he faced and went on to hit another 3 boundaries & a six to score 66 runs off 57 balls. Ajay Shokeen kept the momentum on by hitting one four & 2 sixes and shared partnership of 55 runs off 26 balls quickly to reach 164 runs in 23.4 overs and finally scored 170 runs in 25 overs. Xansa in reply lost 3 quick wkts as Vishal Samuel gave the first break through on the score of 7 while Ajay Shokeen dismissed Rajeev and Pankaj Kalia on the score of 11 runs. Himanshu Jain 26 & Vikas Kheer 31 runs came to rescue of their side by adding 60 runs for the 4th wicket. Joginder bowled Himanshu Jain to bring an end to a dangerous partnership while Vikas Kheer was striking the ball very well to complete his half century from 50 deliveries with 5 fours & 2 sixes. Hewitt (2) Vs Supreme Court (15) Hewitt won the toss & elected to bat on DDA sports complex, as wicket was perfect & ideal to post a good total. The start was not as desired since Chandruchud dismissed Alex to provide early break through for just 4 runs on board. K.S. Jolly 35 & Kunal 52 runs gave bowlers a terrible time as they hammered them to all parts of ground and forced their opponents to remove the power play after 8

th over. They shared 97 runs partnership in 12.4 overs to lay a solid foundation for huge

total. Jolly was unfortunate to be run out by the bowler Azim & Soumya the 3rd wkt to fall as Mirnal Bharti trapped him leg

before the wicket on 115 runs. Kunal shared partnership of 45 runs with Parminder who contributed 15 runs and their partnership scored at 11 runs per over to reach 160 runs in 19.1 overs. Parminder was lucky enough to survive a chance but scored at a faster pace than Kunal to complete the fastest fifty of the tournament from 23 balls. He hammered 7 boundaries & 2 sixes in his unbeaten knock of 57 runs from 27 deliveries that enabled Hewitt to put 227 runs on board. Hewitt thought that it would be a cakewalk for them but Supreme Court openers S. Ghosh (20 runs) & Mirnal Bharti (29 runs) shared 53 runs partnership from 4.5 overs. Kunal came to the rescue as he broke this partnership and while just another 18 runs were added took a good return catch to see the back of Aman on 71 runs in 6.5 overs. S. Ghosh unmoved with the fall of these 2 wkts went on to score 62 runs off just 33 balls to hit 6 boundaries & 4 huge sixes. He and Ritesh (18 runs) shared partnership of 54 runs from 5.4 overs to post 125 runs in 12.2 overs. The way S. Ghosh played was a treat to watch because he was able to execute all the shots in the game of cricket with excellent timing. Match was evenly poised as 101 runs were required from 72 deliveries but Parminder who bowled S. Ghosh changed the complexion of this match. Ritesh & Rajeev kept the momentum going with partnership of 33 runs and posted 158 runs in 17.1 overs. Manish on picking wkt of Ritesh gave another twist but Rajeev & Rajineesh brought another 26 runs partnership for the 6

th wkt to put on 184 runs in 20.2 overs. Another 44 runs off 5 overs still the run rate was nearly same

but the fall of Rajeev as Parminder took a brilliant return catch brought an end to the hopes of their opponents. Hewitt won this game by a narrow margin of 21 runs after posting a massive total. Supreme Court made exit from the tournament on impressive note to throw the strong challenge in the coming years. Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Parminder as he scored fastest half-century of the tournament but mainly received this award for capturing the wkts of Subendu Ghosh & Rajeev Narayan who could have made the difference.

FCS Software (3) Vs Fidelity (14) Fidelity won the toss & invited opponents to bat first in on GGSC ground as wicket had lot of moisture as a result of overnight dew. The match started late and thus was reduced to 23 overs-a-side. The decision paid off as both the openers were back in pavilion on 16 runs. Gunjan provided the initial break through while Vikas Verma took the 2nd wkt to fall. Parakh Kapoor (11 runs) & Vinay Yadav (49 runs) pulled the team out of trouble by sharing partnership of 67 runs, Vinay Yadav adjusted very well to the slowness of wicket and punished all the short deliveries whereas Parakh was providing the support. Vinay Yadav & Amit added 21 runs for the 4th wkt but Vikas Verma who broke the earlier partnership struck again to pick his 3rd wkt on 104 runs in 16.1 overs. As score moved to 110 runs Vinay Yadav tried to clear long on boundary but was caught by Gunjan off Anoop Choudhary. Another 3 wkts fell while just 9 were added as Anoop Choudhary & Ashish Bhatia took one wkt each while Anoop Choudhary ran out Mohan. Fidelity got off to bad start when they lost first wkt for no score on board. Mohan got rid off Yogesh initially and then bowled Sunil on the score of 22 runs. Soon Rajeev Trehan trapped Sumeet LBW when just 2 more runs were added to the total. Manoj who was dropped at his individual score of 15 runs not only went on to score 31 runs but also shared a fruitful partnership of 54 runs with D.R. Sharma (27 runs) for the 4th wkt. Rahul Singh dismissed Manoj on the score of 78 runs whereas Vinay bowled D.R. Sharma on 80 runs to provide the double break and see half the side back in pavilion. Anoop Choudhary held his end by playing sensibly while Ashish Bhatia (9 runs), Abhishek (13 runs) & Vikash Verma (11 runs) took chances and pushed the score to 121 runs after 19 overs. At this stage 35 runs were required from 24 balls & match was wide open, Anoop playing on 7 runs was still concentrating on singles while Gunjan Bhatia went after the bowlers. Anoop changed gears in the 22nd over to score 11 runs when 15 were required from 12 deliveries. Anoop lofted the ball over midwicket to score the winning runs and create the biggest upset of the tournament. Nokia won the toss & elected to bat on GGSC ground. The bowlers of IBM Daksh, Aditya Chhiber & Amit Devgan struck early to pick 3 wkts on 12 runs in 3.1 overs. Murthy Sharma & Alok Singh added 19 runs for the 4th wkt but Chandan Singh removed Alok & just when 3 runs were added to the total Rajesh was run out by Parveen for no score. Nokia was struggling at 34 for 5 after 7 overs but Murthy and Tufail put on 18 runs for the 6th wkt. Soumendra Kar played a good knock to score 24 runs by hitting 4 boundaries and also added 29 runs for the 8th wkt with Tarun Chhabra to take the score to 96 runs. Chandan Singh picked the wkt of Soumender Kar while Hitender bowled Tarun & Deepak Drivedi to close the inning of Nokia on 109 runs in 23 overs. IBM-Daksh scored 15 runs from 2 overs as Mayur Bora & Praveen kumar went after the bowlers but Ranjeet removed Mayur Bora while Tarun Chhabbra bowled Prateek Kapoor to give a double break. Tarun kept the ball in line of the stumps and did not give room to the batsmen for playing their shots. His accurate bowling paid dividends when he trapped Mohit at the total score of 33 runs. Praveen was bowled by Murthy on the score of 19 runs but Charanjeet Singh who made 23 runs off 12 balls (1 four & 3 sixes) enabled his side to reach 74 runs in 12 overs. Alok dismissed the dangerous looking Charanjeet when Tarun took a well judged catch just few inches from the boundary line. Nokia bowlers tried their best to make a match of it but since they had very little to defend failed to do so. Pradeep Deswal (19 not out) & Chandan Singh (13 not out) safely reached the target in 17.2 overs and won the match by 5 wkts to enter the Quarterfinals. Birlasoft won the toss & elected to bat first in on Palam-B ground. Birlasoft made a blunder by changing their batting order and bringing Kunal Handoo in the middle order. They also did not cash the initial overs when Reebok was fielding with just 9 players. The first wkt fell on just 4 runs as Ritesh Saxena trapped Rajnish LBW for no score. Naveen & Dharmendra tried to repair the damage but consumed lot of deliveries to add 25 runs for 2nd wkt. G.P.Singh bowled Naveen as he played across the line on the score of 29 runs. Dharmendra & Alok shared a very partnership of 34 runs from 6.2 overs to post 63 on the board after 13 overs to build the foundation for the batsmen to follow. Change in bowling immediately paid off as Vishnu Bhagat bowled a lovely leg cutter that took the edge of bat while Alok was trying to work the ball through slips. Dharmendra was middling the ball well and looked to be in great touch to score 37 runs off 34 deliveries when once again Vishnu Bhagat bowled intelligently to bowl a slower delivery and Dharmender played all over it to hear the sound of timber. Birlasoft from 81 for 3 was struggling at 89 for 7 when Vishnu took 2 more wkts and one wkt was consumed by Abhilash. Kunnal Handoo kept one end intact to make 21 runs but wkts kept falling frequently at the other end. Kunal trying to increase the scoring rate went to play a lofted shot to a tossed up delivery from Abhilash but missed the line completely and was stumped. The last 2 wkts fell with no addition to the total as Anish picked his first wkt while Abhilash with one more finally finished taking 3 wkts. The last six batsmen contributed just 4 runs between themselves and as such Birlasoft was bowled out for 110 runs still 3.1 overs to be bowled. Vishnu Bhagat 4 wkt for 21 & Abhilash 3 wkts for 10 runs finished with remarkable & economical figures. The openers Anish 10 & Manish 3 runs had to struggle for runs but benefit of 10 extra conceded in 3.4 overs helped their side to put on 23 runs. Nitin Bali got rid of Anish and struck again to dismiss Manish with just 10 more to the total. Ritesh Saxena 15 & G.P. Singh were finding the gaps to pick runs easily and added 24 runs for the 3rd wkt but G.P. Singh gave a return catch to Kunal Handoo who anticipated the powerful shots to perfection and completed a great catch. EFUNDS (6) Vs ICICI Bank (11) ICICI won the toss and opted to bat first in a match played on DDA sports complex. The advantage of batting first in the afternoon session was lost as the first wkt fell on 18 runs when Ankur went for a run that was not called for. The bowlers were bang on target & runs were not coming easily, that forced Sharry Sharma to take the Ariel route since score was just 38 runs in 7.3 overs. Wasim Siddiqui bowled superb line to pick his wkt as he tried to clear the field but the ball went into the safe hands of Ajay Bhandari at Mid-off. Another similar dismissal on 47 runs caused more problems, Wasim Siddiqui with his perfect line saw a kind of replay but this time it was Kishore Talukdar walking back for just 1 run. Deepak Sharma kept the scoreboard moving by picking gaps and ran for very possible run to share partnership of 27 runs for the 4

th wkt

with Sachin Mehta. Hardeep broke this dangerous looking partnership on 74 runs and Sachin Mehta was next man to be dismissed by Hardeep Singh while he added just 4 runs more to his total & later on 92 runs picked wkt of Rakesh Sharma. Jetinder Diwan was playing on 3 runs & Manik who came in on the fall of 6

th wkt on the very first ball he faced gave a

simple return catch to Hardeep Singh making his tally of 4 wkts as the score was unmoved. Jetinder Diwan and Amit Verma came together at the score of 110 for 8 after 22 overs but played very intelligently to put on 31 runs from last 3 overs. Jetinder Diwan played one of the best shot of the tournament and the most difficult shot in the game of cricket i.e. a lofted shot over covers and that too from the backfoot. ICICI Bank made an early dent as Ankur on very first ball of the innings bowled super substitute Rishi Singla for no score. EFUNDS could have been in trouble as Manik dropped Hardeep Singh on 1 run at Mid-Off. Hardeep (25 runs) & Gaurav Malik (29 runs) put on 60 runs partnership for the 2

nd wicket in 7 overs to lay the

foundation for victory. Vivek on picking the wkt of Gaurav in his second over removed Parminder Negi to restrict them to 65 runs for loss of 3 wkts in 9.1 overs. Hardeep Singh ignoring the survived chance went after the bowlers to hit 3 sixes quickly and collected 22 runs to complete his half century. at Square leg to see his back. The 3rd wkt fell on 31 runs as Ahmar Hussain played across the line to a straight delivery

from Kaustav Ganguly. Atul Bhardwaj & Sumit Patial took the responsibility of building the inning by playing sensibly

looking partnership on the 1st ball after drinks to dismiss Atul and soon Sumit was out after adding 19 runs for the 5

Karanvir Singh was bowled by Rohan Thakur & Grish Chug was run out on 11 runs with team total reaching 97 runs in

19.2 overs. A partnership of 22 runs between Adesh Awasthi & Ankit made a very handy contribution by putting pressure

on fielders to convert few single into doubles and took the score to 119 runs. Once again Karanvir delivered at required

time to take a fine return catch and picked his 2nd wkt to end the partnership. Ankit went on make 16 runs off 15 balls &

Vineet 10 off 8 balls gathered 19 runs to post a decent total of 140 runs in 25 overs. Citi Bank lost 2 quick wkts at 11 runs

as Atul Bhardwaj picked the wkts of both the openers. The small partnership of 21 & 11 for 3rd & 4

th wkt respectively

helped them to reach 43 runs in 10 overs. They lost another wicket on 43 runs as Pawan Grewal picked 2 wkts to

concede just 19 runs in his 5 overs while one wkt came via run out as Ankit not only picked the ball cleanly made good

return on top of stumps. Ankit Bhatia demolished the lower order by picking 3 wkt and Citi Bank were struggling at 65 for 9

wkts. The last pair made the best & highest contribution of the innings as Kaustav Ganguly 16 not out & Chetan 22 runs

off 15 balls gave a good fight to hit wonderful shots and forced Global Vantedge to put in extra efforts to end this

partnership. Atul Bhardwaj finally managed to bowl out Chetan on 110 runs to give his team some relief as Citi Bank had

still more then 5 overs left & few more boundaries could have changed the complexion of the game. In the end Global

Vantedge won the game by 30 runs to qualify for the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Reebok Man of the Match was

IAF won the toss & elected to bat first on Palam-B ground, as wicket was flat & dry. The openers collected 17 runs from 3.3 overs when Imran Khan (12 runs) tried to cut loose and gave a simple catch to Sidharth off Kapil Mehra. S.K. Ojha (18 runs) & Harish Bhaskar (48 runs) went after the bowlers during the power play field restrictions to hit 7 boundaries sharing a partnership of 75 runs for 2

nd wkt and posted 92 in 15.3 overs. Bulbul provided the much-required break through by

dismissing the dangerous looking Harish while Amit Rawat succeeded in trapping Ojha LBW on 33 runs since his running between the wkts was quick & ability to hit powerfully came to an end on the score of 118 runs. Run out of Deepak Bhaskar on 9 runs saw the complete transformation among the fielders. 2 more run outs & 3 wkts picked by Fraklin went through the lower order to see the collapse of entire team on 153 in 24.5 overs. EXL Service fielders made a good come back by restricting their opponents from making a bigger target in spite of good platform. While chasing the target openers gave a slow start as just 13 run came from 5 overs. Kunal Punj 16 & Amit Rawat 16 runs did succeed in lifting the run rate by hitting boundaries and took the score to 34 runs in 7.1 overs. M.Sundram provided the first break through & Imran Khan after conceding 3 boundaries in his first overs made a good come back to pick 2 quick wkts and restricted EXL Service to 42 for 3 after 9 overs. GENPACT Vs EXL Service EXL Service won the toss & invited GENPACT to bat on Palam-B hoping for some assistance for the bowlers from

morning dew. The openers provided a slow start despite of ball coming nicely on to the bat, collected just 13 runs from 5

overs and allowed the captain of EXL Service to continue with second & third power play. Gagan Jain (17 off 25 balls) &

Shahbaaz (14 off 31 balls) gathered 42 runs from 9.1 overs to create unnecessary pressure on themselves. In order to

step up the run rate both the openers got out on 43 runs as Kapil Mehra claimed their wickets. Soon Arijit Mukherjee &

Manmohan Gusain walked back without making much contribution at the score of 47 runs in 11.3 overs. Joginder Sehgal

(17 runs) & Gaurav Saigal (6 runs) collected 24 runs, repaired the damage to some extent by taking the score to 71 runs.

Sidhant Saxena who took 4th wkt to fall, struck again as joginder played a lofted shot straight to Long-off for Ashwani to do

the rest. Gaurav Saigal shared 24 runs partnership for the 6th wkt with Kartik and 38 runs with Danish for the 7

th wkt

before being bowled by franklin at his individual score of 40 runs off 44 deliveries. He played a sensible knock by not

taking any undue risk and played every delivery on its merit to build small partnerships and reach a defending total of 135

runs in 25 overs. EXL bowlers did a good job to contain the opponents to a getable total as they conceded only 14 extras

& fielders made some extra efforts to extend their support. While chasing the target openers Kunal Punj 14 & Kapil Mehra

12 runs started off well to collect 28 runs from 5.4 overs. Gaurav Saigal came again to the rescue of his side, provided the

breakthrough by removing Kapil Mehra and then Franklin for 6 runs at the team score of 48 runs. Kunal Punj was lucky to

be dropped twice but Danish held a low catch behind the stumps to dismiss him at the score of 60 on the bowling of Ajay.

Bulbul took charge of the situation by running hard between the wkts but was deceived by a flighted delivery from

Joginder to see his middle stump uprooted. This changed the complexion of the match as Joginder picked 3 more wkts to

demolish the middle order. But match took another twist when 20 runs were added for the 9th wkt and EXL Service

required 15 runs from 12 deliveries. Ajay bowled very well to concede just 4 runs in penultimate over and now 11 runs

were required in last over. Both the batsmen got out when wicketkeeper Danish scored direct hits and thus GENPACT

won the match by 10 runs to enter the semifinal of the tournament for the 3rd time in a row. GENPACT showed great

teamwork & belief in themselves to defend a modest total. Captain lead the team from front by taking 4 wkts at crucial

time but Gaurav Saigal received the Reebok Man of the Match award for playing a responsible knock initially and then

bowled with lot of intelligence and fire to pick wickets when it mattered the most.

Hewitt Vs Global Vantedge Hewitt won the toss & elected to bat on Palam-B ground, as wicket was perfect & ideal for putting up a big total. The

openers provided a slow start as Kanwaldeep Singh 15 & Alex Goerge 20 runs collected 40 runs from first 8 overs. Tarun

Raheja bowled Kanwaldeep to pick the first wkt but Alex survived a chance on 7 runs concentrated and applied himself to

reach 31 runs. Alex & Kunal Puri (15 runs) shared partnership of 22 runs to post 68 runs on board when Tarun Raheja

struck again to break this partnership as Prakash held a good catch at mid-wkt. Alex George and Parminder Singh (23

runs off just 16 balls) lifted the run rate by collecting 38 runs off 30 balls to help their side reach 115 runs in 19.2 overs.

Ankit Bhatia who was little expensive in his first spell came back strongly to break this dangerous looking partnership &

with just 4 runs more on board removed Alex to impose further restriction on flow of runs. The pressure of having lost 5

wkts for 119 runs resulted in another dismissal as a good throw from Ahmar found Navneet short of his ground. Soumya

Dey (17 runs) & Kamal Gaur (11 runs) made a very handy contribution of 23 runs for the 7th wkt to take the score to 150

runs in 23 overs and both of them were looking good to take it close to 170. Grish Chugh dismissed Soumya on the 1st

delivery when once again Prakash took a good catch, he bowled Mohit on the next delivery but next batsmen saved the

hattrick and ran a leg bye. Girish bowled Kamal on his 4th delivery and the entire team of Hewitt was bowled out when

Kamaldeep was bowled on the 5th delivery. So in the space of 5 deliveries Girish took 4 wkts without conceding a run. In

reply Global Vantedge lost 2 wkts quickly as Navneet Sharma picked both the openers on 33 runs in 7.1 overs. The

excitement did not last for long as the bowlers struggled to find another success due to magnificent partnership of 71 runs

between Ahmar Hussain (22 runs) & Grish Chugh (39 runs). Mohit Verma provided the breakthrough at the score of 104

runs while Soumya dismissed Sumit at the score of 122 runs. At this stage 30 runs were required from 24 deliveries but

the advantage of having Grish Chugh on crease & six wkts in hand provided edge on Global Vantedge. Grish Chugh

attacked the bowlers to hit 2 more boundaries & picked runs in doubles to score unbeaten 69 runs off 59 balls while

Adesh Awasthy (8 runs off 9 balls) gave him the required support. Global Vantedge reached the target with 3 balls to

spare and registered wonderful victory by 6 wkts to enter the semifinals for the first time. This was another big upset of the

tournament as most of entries received voted for Hewitt in prediction poll. The 28 extra runs conceded by Hewitt bowlers

made a big difference to the result of this game as this was the second highest contribution to the total. It would not be

wrong to put on record that Girish Chugh on his own defeated the team ranked 2nd in this tournament and was rightly

declared Reebok Outperformer of the Match.

EFUNDS Vs Fidelity

Fidelity won the toss & elected to bat on Palam - B ground. The openers made cautious start as Yogesh (18 runs) & Vikas took no risk to push the ball in gaps and reached 22 runs in 4.1 overs. The runs were not coming easily as fielders backed their bowlers and that resulted in the fall 1st wkt when Yogesh top edged a delivery from Pankaj Mohanty. Another wicket fell quickly on 31 runs as Pankaj Mohanty bowled Vikas Verma who had to fancy his chances since he took 15 deliveries to score just 4 runs. Manoj Nand Kumar (13 runs) & Manoj Kumar (17 runs) played some good shots to share a partnership of 30 runs for the 3rd wkt and pushed the score to 61 runs. Introduction of spin attack frustrated the batsmen more and they were not able to connect properly as Nitin Sehgal bowled perfect line and length. Manoj Nand Kumar 19 runs was the only batsmen who played the bowlers confidently but lost his wkt in order to step up the run rate which was just 4 runs per over. Nitin Sehgal bowled him on 74 runs & later removed all the 6 wickets to restrict opponents to just 94 runs. Nitin Sehgal bowled very impressive line & his variety in flight troubled most of them from scoring freely and forced the batmen to make errors. In reply, EFUNDS comfortably reached the target in 10th over as Hardeep Singh 48 & Gaurav Malik 35 runs hammered all the bowlers to hit 16 boundaries & a six. In first 5 overs they collected 53 runs forcing their opponents to remove the power play but was ineffective as both of them continued in similar fashion to help their side to win the match by 8 wickets & moved to the semifinal of the tournament. The Reebok Man of the Match went to Nitin Sehgal for devastating spell of 4.1-0-17-7 and became the first bowler to pick 7 wickets in the tournament.

Daksh Vs Reebok Reebok won the toss & invited Daksh to bat first on Palam-B ground as wicket had some moisture due to over night dew.

Opener Chandan Singh started the run campaign by hitting a four to point boundary on the first ball of the match.

Chandan smashed 3 more boundaries to make 20 off 13 balls but was out at deep point when he tried to repeat the first

shot of the match. Md. Awais & Mayur Bora picked runs easily by putting pressure on fielders and converted few single

into doubles to add 22 runs for the 2nd wkt and posted 57 runs on board. Dinesh Tomar in his final over trapped Md. Awais

LBW to provide the vital break through and also bowled Prateek Kapoor for no score in the same over to provide opening

for the other bowlers. Mayur Bora played some attractive shots to collect 4 boundaries & since his running between the

wickets was good another 20 runs were added. Pradeep Deswal responded well to grab every opportunity available for

runs and they both shared partnership of 43 runs taking the score to 100 runs in 16th over. The pressure bounced back on

Reebok as both of them indicated for big total but Ritesh Saxena provided the crucial break through by hitting the stumps

of Mayur while he was playing across the line. Just 3 more runs came in when Pradeep tried to lift Sandeep Mathur over

the covers but miscued the shot to give a simple catch. Abhilash took next 2 wkts as Praveen misjudged the length of ball

to see his stumps rattled while Charanjeet Bedi stepped out for huge hit but was deceived in the flight to be stumped. The

7th wkt fell on 132 runs but Sandeep Mathur took 2 wkts in the next over & Abhilash closed the inning of IBM-Daksh at the

score of 137 runs with 2.1 overs to spare. Reebok lost first wkt quickly on 14 runs as Sanjay Arora (10 runs) was caught

at mid-on off Pradeep Deswal. G.P. Singh 56 & Ritesh 26 runs not only made good recovery also ensured the victory by

sharing partnership of 87 runs for the 2nd wicket. Both the batsmen took their time to settle initially and then changed

gears to pick the run rate. G.P. Singh was more severe on bowlers to hit 10 boundaries & a six but was bowled by

Praveen Sharma. Ritesh Saxena added another 19 runs to his pervious total and remained unbeaten on 45 runs. He

paced his innings in a very calculative way since most of his runs came in by running hard between the wickets. Abhilash

(17 not out) ensured no further loss of wickets to reach the target in 23.1 overs. The performance of Daksh was little

disappointing as they had performed reasonably well in past few games & prediction poll projected Daksh as favorites but

Reebok made an upset to win the match comfortably by 8 wkts and entered the semifinal of the tournament. The Man of

the Match was awarded to Ritesh Saxena for scoring unbeaten 45 runs and taking the most crucial wicket of Mayur Bora.

Reebok won the toss & elected to bat on GGSC ground. The advantage to bat first was lost as Karthick struck in his very

first over to pick the wkt of Anish Gautam who was out to a brilliant catch held by Manhoman. Another wkt by Karthick in

his second over saw the fall of Ritesh Saxsena for no score when he miscued a shot and Gagan held a low catch diving

full length in front of him at mid on. The fine opening spell by Vishal & Karthick made Manish Marwah struggle for runs as

3 runs were scored off 23 deliveries but G.P. Singh on surviving a chance scored 23 runs for the 3rd wkt to build a

partnership of 29 runs among themselves and pushed the score to 37 runs. Ajay Shokeen bowled Manish but G.P. Singh

was lucky to be dropped again on 24 runs reached 32 runs collecting 5 boundaries. Gaurav Saighal struck at the very

crutial moment to deceive Abhilash on a slow delivery and he gave simple catch at mid-off for Karthick to do the rest. G.P.

Singh carried his innings further striking 2 huge sixes and reached his half century off 41 balls contributed 26 runs for the

5th wkt to put on 77 runs. G.P. Singh was next to dismissed as he went in for another lofted shot found Ajay Shokeen at

long off to provide first success for Vishal Samuel. Dinesh Tomar chipped the ball in gaps to add very valuable 17 runs

partnership with Ravish (9 runs) and took the score to 94 runs in 19.4 overs. The runs were not coming easily as bowlers

provided no room to cut loose and this forced Ravish to hit Joginder across the line to find his stumps shattered. In the

remaining 5 overs opponents could gather only 23 runs as Gaurav Saighal bowled exceptionally well to pick 2 wkts and

restricted any partnership from developing during the slog overs. Reebok in the end managed to post 126 run as final

target in 25 overs. All the bowlers gave wonderful performance but Karthick in particular bowled superb spell early in the

innings gave one of the most economical figures of the tournament conceded just 9 runs from 5 overs. GENPACT got off

to a similar start as G.P. Singh bowled Joginder for no score & Dinesh Tomar trapped Arijit LBW as he offered no shot to

a ball that came in sharply. Gagan Jain (31 runs) & Manmohan Gusain (33 runs) came to the rescue of their side to share

a partnership of 67 runs but both the batsmen were lucky to survive a chance in the 15th over bowled by Abhilash. The

partnership came to an end as Vishnu Bhagat provided the break through on 72 runs to bring his team back in match.

Gagan on reaching 44 runs & Gaurav 6 runs made fine contribution of 20 runs for the 4th wkt and pushed the total to 92

runs in 18.4 overs. Anish Gautam picked the prize wkt of Gagan & Vishu Bhagat trapped Danish LBW for just 3 runs to

EFUNDS Vs Global Vantedge EFUNDS on wining the toss invited the opponents to bat first on GGSC ground expecting some help for bowlers during the early morning The decision paid off immediately as both the openers were back in pavilion for just 5 runs on board as Pankaj Mohanty & Amit Mishra struck to pick one wkt each in their first over. The small partnership of 20 & 17 runs for the 3rd & 4

th wkt pushed the total to 42 runs in 8.4 overs. The runs were not coming easily as some tight bowling backed by

the sharp fielding never allowed batsmen to take much liberty. Parminder Negi contributed for 3rd and 4

th wkt when he

stumped Sumit Patiyal & Girish Chugh down the leg side to both medium pacers. Stumping of Sumit was a masterpiece as it was executed off a delivery way down leg side. Atul Bhardwaj 39 runs off 40 balls & super substitute Siddharth Rao 20 runs came to the rescue as they attacked the bowlers to share partnership of 45 runs for the 5

th wkt and took the score

to 87 runs after the completion of 17th over. A bad shot from Atul Bhardwaj changed the complexion of the match in favour

of EFUNDS who were under pressure at that moment because both Atul & Sidharth were middling the ball well and had started to hit boundaries and sixes at will. Bhupinder Singh after being hit for 2 boundaries in his first over came back strongly to hit the stumps of Atul and also forced Siddharth on 29 runs to play a lofted shot straight to the cover fielder when it was not called for. Wickets started to fall at regular intervals as Nitin picked 2 and Bhupinder added 1 more to his tally. Pawan Kr. 11 runs & Anshu 5 runs came in with very handy 16 runs for the last wkt to help their side post a fighting total of 128 runs at the end of 24

th over. In reply EFUNDS openers Hardeep Singh 16 & Gaurav Malik 8 runs provided

another good start to collect 24 runs from 21 deliveries. Gaurav Malik was dismissed caught behind but Hardeep Singh (31 runs with 1 boundary and 3 towering sixes) & Parminder Negi (19 runs with 3 neatly times boundaries) shared a partnership of 40 runs to post 64 runs in 9.3 overs. Both the batsmen fell on same score as Girish Chugh removed Parminder & later Hardeep Singh picking his favorite spot mid-off to give an easy catch to Atul. Global Vantedge in-spite of low total made good efforts to make a match out of it. EFUNDS won the game comfortably by 7 wkts to enter the final of the tournament for the first time. The Man of the Match was awarded to Bhupinder Singh as he took the wickets of both well-settled batsmen & also initiated a run out to break the developing partnership between the last pair.

Eventus Cricket Tournament Final

GENPACT Vs. EFUNDS EFUNDS on winning the toss elected to bat first on Palam-A ground, as wicket was perfect & ideal for putting up a decent

target in a 30 over match. The openers gave a reasonably good start as Hardeep Singh (14 runs) & Gaurav Malik (21

runs) collected 39 runs from 6.5 overs. Gaurav Malik attacked the bowlers to clear the fence 4 times and compensated for

the too many dot balls played early in the innings. Vishal Samuel in his 4th over provided the first break through by taking

a return catch of Gaurav Malik. Change in bowling paid off immediately as 2 quick wickets fell, Prityush Gautam first

surprised Parminder Negi by lifting the ball from good length spot to brush his gloves allowing the wicket keeper to do the

rest and the next wicket to fall was of Prashant Ahalawat who failed to read the pace & the length of a Yorker. EFUNDS

already struggling to score freely lost 3 wkts for 52 runs in 11.4 overs now desperately required a good partnership.

Hardeep Singh on surviving a chance on 15 runs became more cautious but Nitin timed the ball very well to increase the

run rate. The contribution of 32 runs more by Hardeep Singh & Nitin Sehgal 56 runs off 54 balls developed much required

partnership of 95 runs for the 4th wkt to post 147 runs in 27.3 overs. Nitin Sehgal played every delivery on its merit, he

pushed the ball between the fielders to change the strike frequently & on finding the bad deliveries dispatched them to

fence. Gaurav Saighal bowled exceptionally well and allowed none of the batsmen to take any liberty. He forced Nitin to

play a lofted shot at deep covers where Joginder Sehgal held a good catch. Hardeep Singh surviving two more chances

on 45 & 47 runs finally got out to a soft dismissal behind the stumps at the score of 154 runs. Vivek Sharma 11 runs not

out & Ajay Bhandari 5 runs not out added valuable 17 runs to finally finish at 174 runs in 30 overs. All the bowlers used

were very effective as they bowled within the line of stumps and conceded just 6 wide deliveries during the entire innings.

GENPACT openers Gagan Jain (18 runs) & Shahbaz Mobin (28 runs) gave a better start compared to their opponents as

both the batsmen collected 52 runs in 8.3 overs. Gagan Jain played sheet anchor role by providing most of the strike to

Mobin as he was middling the ball well and had struck 4 boundaries with perfect timing. Nitin Sehgal who was brought

early in the attack took the wkt of Gagan in his first over to provide the break through and also removed Arijt Mukherjee for

no score in the same over by trapping both the batsmen LBW to restrict GENPACT to 55 runs at the completion of 9th

over. Shahbaz Mobin scored another 9 runs while new man in Manmohan Gusain right from the beginning showed the

straight bat, struck couple of boundaries & ran hard to score 22 runs out of 31 runs gathered for the 3rd wkt. Shahbaz

Mobin was next man to be dismissed as he tried to cut Hardeep Singh but was brilliantly held by Wasim Siddique.

Manmohan Gusain added another 24 runs for the 4th wkt while Joginder Sehgal who was dropped twice made 21 runs to

share partnership of 49 runs for the 5th wkt to reach 135 runs in 24.2 overs. Nitin Sehgal picked his 3

rd wkt as Joginder

Sehgal stepped out to lift the ball, missed the line completely for Parminder to remove the bails easily. On 135 runs

another wkt fell as Wasim ran out Gaurav Saigal for no score since Manmohan after responding to the call decided not to

take a run. GENPACT now required 40 runs from 5 overs at the rate of 8 runs per over. Manhohan unmoved by the

situation still worked the ball in gaps and collected 2 boundaries on bad deliveries to reach 57 runs while Danish (8 runs)

further pushed the total to 154 runs in 27.3 overs. The excitement was on as Wasim Siddque removed Danish to pick the

6th wkt. At this stage GENPACT required 21 runs off remaining 15 balls. Manmohan struck a boundary on the 5

th ball of

28th over & crossed for single on the last ball. Now they required 16 runs off 12 balls, both Manmohan & Karthick ran for 3

singles & 2 doubles in the 29th over bowled by Hardeep. The match was very closely contested with just 9 runs required

from the last over. Nitin Sehgal on his very first ball conceded 2 runs when Karthik ran hard towards the danger end. Next

delivery was deliberately bowled wide as Nitin thought that Manmohan will step out but Manmohan left the ball alone and

a wide ball was declared. The dramatic end to this match came on the 2nd delivery off 30

th over as Manmahon hit the ball

to long off, non striker (Karthik) ran the first quickly & called for second run. When the throw missed the stumps at non-

striker end, Nitin Sehgal attempted to run out Manmohan at the strikers end because he was tired and slowly moving

towards his end. The throw of Nitin found everybody by surprise as none of the players had anticipated that throw from

Nitin that went past the stumps to hit the side screen and entire team of GENPACT ran on the ground to lift Manmohan

Gosain. The Reebok Man of the Match was awarded to Manmohan Gosain for his brilliant batting performance but the

credit of victory goes to the entire team of GENPACT as they handled the pressure better than EFUNDS.
