African countries are climbing up the economic and political stability ladder. This

condition sparks promising opportunities for A frican countries and i nternational

However, to fully realize and appreciate the possibilities which Africa may give to

the world, including Indonesia, it is always important to acknowledge the fact that

economical sense, t he prominent continent itself holds d eposits of various natural

resources, r anging f rom strategic minerals, such as diamonds, gold, manganese,

cobalt and many othe rs, to agricultural products such as rubber , cotton, etc .

A frica h as o nly represented 5.04% o f Indonesia’s overall international trade,

compared to Asia (68.54%), US (13.61%) and Europe (12.81%). This condition should

be greatly improved in the year s to come.

The potential for business growth and economic opportunities are enormous, yet

the challenges that lie ahead are also immense. That is why there should be a forum

to unveil exciting business opportunities in Africa, as well as to facilitate Indonesian

industry players to be familiar with Africa in general. African Countries, Ministry of

Trade (Indonesia) and Ministry of F oreign Affairs (Indonesia), together with KADIN

Africa & G-15, w ill work hand-in-glove at the “African Business Forum” which will

take place on April 9-10, 2008.
