Greetings to all,
As Christmas quickly approaches, our calendar remains full
of various events and activities that are happening across Carrington.
On Saturday 14th
October 2017, we held our annual
Carrington Open Day.
The Open Day was attended by over 80
people, and saw members of our
community finding
out more about life at Carrington, as well
as having the opportunity to view our Independent Living Units and our four residential care facilities.
The weather held out for us and the day was a great
success!
We would like to thank all of our residents, volunteers, and staff who gave their time on the day to make the event such
a success.

From the Chief Executive
Dear Residents,
Over the past few weeks, staff in our
residential care facilities have been working very hard to overcome the Flu outbreak, as
well as the Gastro outbreak that was experienced by many aged care facilities
across Sydney.
The staff did exceptionally well under the circumstances. Thank you to all our care
and hotel services staff.
A presentation of concept design of future development opportunities for Carrington
was presented to the residents on the 31st
October 2017.
It was also a great occasion on the 1st
November for residents and guests to get together at our Annual General Meeting
celebrating Carrington’s achievements over the past twelve months and also
recognising a number of our staff who have given a loyal service to Carrington over
many, many years.
We have been communicating with Tunstall regarding some interruption to the system
as reported by residents. These interruptions are happening due to
NBN rollout which has had a direct impact on telephone lines too.
Tunstall will be visiting our site soon to
identify ‘black spot’ areas within the village and install antennas at different points
within the village. We have also asked them to install an additional call button in
the shower area of each unit to make it easier for our residents to initiate a call
when required. Further information on this will be sent out to all residents.
Until next time, keep well and keep smiling.
Raad Richards, Chief Executive

A lovely home visit with
Ashleigh Fisher-Sharpe Ashleigh Fisher-Sharpe is a toastmaster of
district 70, region 12. She has won many awards, but these
awards in the photo are special.
Ashleigh, a senior
toastmaster, tested her gift of the gab
and has gone to 3 levels of winning
with her wonderful speech, named
‘Nearly 90’.
How wonderful to win, and also a recognition of continual membership to
Toastmaster Carrington for 20 years.
If you would like to join Toastmasters or find out about the Toastmasters, please
contact Ashleigh in ILU 76 or phone 4655 3438.

A Sincere Thankyou
I don’t know where to start to thank everyone here at Carrington for their well
wishes and sympathy at the passing of my darling Jenny.
My family and I were completely
overwhelmed with the mountain of cards,
floral tributes, letters, visits, phone calls, and over 100 people attending the service
at St John’s to celebrate her life.
Thanks to our CEO Raad for finding time during his very busy schedule to pay his
respects at the service.
A very special thanks to my three sons; Warren, Simon, Martin, as well as their
wives and grandchildren who were a tower of strength to me with the
arrangements.
To my dearest friend Marg Crocker, and
her cohorts Noelene Gay and Barb Cook– you always put your hand up and help
where you can, and you did it again with all the setting up for the wake. Heaps of
thanks.
Jenny is looking down on us now enjoying a glass of bubbly with a strawberry in it,
and is at peace.
Thanks again to all our Carrington family.
Kindest Regards, Peter Kennedy
Dreaming There was never a time When he didn’t dream
Of a different Life for him
A different path to tread
There was never a time When the black cloud
Didn’t lift From his heart
And soul
There was never a time When he didn’t yearn
For a solitary life Fossicking for gold
Far away
There was never a time When he didn’t hope
For his numbers to come up “Five off a fiver.”
The results were always the same
There was never a time When in spite of all this
He didn’t find joy In creating joy
For someone else

Christmas is coming– again!
Among the many verses in the Old
Testament, God foretold the coming of his
Son through men who wrote these books.
I have chosen just three verses from Isaiah
foretelling the birth, ministry, and suffering
of the Lord Jesus.
1. A child is born to us, a son is given to
us
2. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is
upon me– to bring good news to the
poor. He has sent me to comfort the
broken hearted
3. He was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins. He was beaten so
we could be whole. He was whipped so
we could be healed.
Thank you Lord for a little rain!

is just one part of the fun!
Our next trip will be to
Ambrosia Restaurant. Date: 16th November
