Note From The Pastor Dr. Glenn E. Robertson, Sr. Pastor
Just a reminder, we will have our regularly scheduled Business Meeting this Sunday. We will have a light lunch and
then the meeting. The Agenda is published online under the Events tab. This newsletter serves as a second publica-
tion of the meeting.
This Sunday, I will also be wrapping up my series on The Gospel for the End Times. This Sunday I will preach on the
Heaven, Everything Made New. Our hope is ultimately that God will restore all things. Those who have placed their
faith in Jesus Christ have their names written in the Book of Life. They will be part of the new heavens and the new
earth. Yet, what makes this “heaven” paradise is that God dwells there. It is God who makes heaven – heaven. When
the New Jerusalem comes down from heaven, it has no temple. Why? A temple is merely a representation of God.
You don’t need a representation when God is present. A new Eden is also part of the description of heaven. The river
that flows from God’s throne gives life to everything it touches. This is a concept seen in Ezekiel 47. The tree of life is
present, a reference back to life at Eden. A return to Eden means that God is restoring His purpose in making
creation. Once sin and evil have been removed, God restores His purpose in making us and making all other things.
People have often tried to create utopias on earth. Every movement that was to bring utopia has always failed.
Utopias are dreams that never end well. They fail because humans have a sin nature. Selfishness and a lust for pow-
er and greed always disrupts any good hoped for by idealistic dreamers. Today, dreamers think socialism will bring
about a utopia of good for all people. They will be disappointed in seeing how bad people can be toward one anoth-
er when some people have absolute power. In that utopic socialist dream, Christians will not fare well. Socialist are
atheists at heart. It is a belief that society can self-exist apart from divine input. They don’t want God. In socialism,
Christians are not liked because they remind them of God. Yet, one day at the end, God will show up. We believers
must hold onto our faith until the end, no matter how bad it may get. God will have the last say. He has heaven in
plan for us. It is not a utopic dream. It is the Kingdom of God.

Note from Rachel:
Intern Youth Minister
There are many days in which I feel uncertain. Uncertain about what this next semester at school will look like.
Uncertain whether I will like the new way of life as we try to navigate the pandemic. Uncertain what the future
will bring, as the air is heavy with fear of the Coronavirus and tense with political unrest. Yet, there is an
unwavering certainty. We have an eternal hope in God that outweighs these temporary trials we face. In Psalm
27:13-14, David says, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say,
on the Lord.” The reason David did not lose heart was the hope that He would get to see the goodness of God
up close! The reason that we have joy in the midst of a trial is very similar- we look forward to the time when
we will experience the goodness of God in its fullness. Until that time, let us be conscious of the goodness of
God’s presence with us now. Do not give up hope, but wait on the Lord.
