Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to what should be another exciting term of inspired learning and authentic school and community
partnerships I trust that everyone has had a safe and relaxing holiday and that the students are keen to re -engage
with their teachers and friends I sincerely welcome back all families and look forward to working in partnership
with you your children and our wonderful staff
School Development Day
Whilst the students enjoyed an extra day of holidays the staff returned to school on the Monday and participated
in professional learning opportunities at the Senior High School Campus as part of our Brisbane Water Learning
Community The title for the day was lsquoExperts Withinrsquo with many teachers leading the professional learning linked
to what is happening in classrooms It I so wonderful to see so many great teachers across all the local schools We
finished the day with an inspirational keynote from Kurt Fearnley

The pedestrian infrastructure between the studentrsquos home and schoolTAFE is unsuitable for safe walking
You need to include information on the walking route when applying for a review on pedestrian infrastructure grounds ie roadworks parks or walkways where an obstruction is present The student has a medical condition which prevents them from walking to and from schoolTAFE You need to include an SSTS medical report and certificate opens in new window when applying for an exemption on medical grounds LegalChild Services You need to include supporting documentation when applying for an exemption on LegalChild Services grounds ie Police report or Apprehended Violence Order (AVO)

Home Readers
The school has secured $3000 of funding for new Home Readers and will also contribute a minimum of $2000 to
improve books across K ndash 6 As we have teachers participating in some professional learning related to reading we
are waiting till they have completed this before finalising the purchasing of new books This will ensure we buy the
best books to support the learning of our students at EBPS

We are all looking forward to this on Saturday evening While food orders are closed families are still welcome to
buy tickets for this event

CMPS PampC Association plays an active role at Central Mangrove As well as raising additional funds to
assist with school activities and Uniform Shop the PampC can have a say in everything from traffic safety
problems bullying enrolment issues school transport testing procedures improved curricula school
funding teacher performance student support services libraries amp information technology student coun-
selling and wellbeing to mention just a few topics
Your PampC association can assist in making a difference to how your child is educated and help them enjoy
their time at school resulting in better performance in and out of the class room Research has shown that
students whose parents are involved in their school (via their PampCs) perform better academically and so-
cially

The library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday 6 th August- Thursday 9th August Book Fair is a valuable
library fundraiser as the school receives a percentage of books sold as commission for hosting a fair which means new
books for our students to read
Students will be given an opportunity to view Book Fair books during their weekly library lesson and the fair will be open
before school at lunch and after school As part of our Book Fair promotions the library monitors will be running a
colouring competition and winners will receive a prize from our Fair
