From the desk of Fr. Costa
All sorts of things are happening in the Somerset/
Swansea Catholic Community. I first wish to thank
you, our faithful parishioners, for being so open and
cooperative on the first weekend of our revised Mass
schedule. For some folks, there was little change to
their weekly routine. But, for others, adapting to a
new Mass time was more of a challenge. I did hear
positive comments about how “fuller” our churches
were for the Masses. Again, I remind you that, you
may place your budget envelope in the basket at
whichever of our three church you attend on the
weekend. Your donation will be brought to your
“home base” parish.
This Sunday, September 22, there will be an impor-
tant meeting for all families wishing to participate in
our Religious Education program. All Religious Edu-
cation classes for Grades 1 through Confirmation For-
mation will take place at the Saint Thomas More Par-
ish Center (the basement level of the church building).
Our meeting will take place in Saint Thomas More
Church following the 9:00 a.m. Mass. (approximately
10:00 a.m.). Following the meeting, registration ma-
terials will be available.
This past Wednesday, I finally moved into the Saint
Thomas More Rectory. The parish offices are also
located at this site. Just as an FYI, according to di-
ocesan guidelines, parish priests are expected to take
some weekly time off. My usual day off is Thursday
overnight through Friday. I try not to schedule ap-
pointments or funeral Masses on Friday’s. Of course,
we can’t control everything, try as we may, so excep-
tions must sometimes be made. Your understanding
is greatly appreciated.
Hats off to the Men’s Group of Saint Patrick Parish
for providing a great breakfast on September 8. From
the friendly welcome at the door, the set-up of the
hall, the delicious meal (Sr. Kathee loved the bacon!),
and the attentive service to the clean up of the kitchen,
EVERYTHING was well done. This is an experi-
enced, well organized team. If you’ve never attended
a meal sponsored by our Men’s Group, I highly rec-
ommend you “check it out.” Thank you, gentlemen,
for a job well done!

WEEKEND MASS INTENTIONS
With the change in Mass schedule, we have need of
rearranging Mass intentions. As a general rule, inten-
tions scheduled for the 10:00 a.m. Mass at Saint Patrick
will be joined with the intentions for the 8:00 a.m.
Mass. Intentions scheduled for the 11:00 a.m. Mass at
Saint Thomas More will be joined with intentions at
the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Intentions for the 9:30 a.m. Mass
and the 11:00 a.m. Mass at Saint Louis will be com-
bined at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. If you wish to have your
intention remembered at the 4:00 p.m. Mass or
changed to another Mass either during the week or on
Sunday at another church, please contact Wendy at the
parish office.
First Friday Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament
Starting in October, we are beginning
First Friday Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament. This time of personal prayer, reflection,
and adoration will be held for our three parishes at
Saint Patrick Church on the first Friday of each month.
The day will begin with a Communion Service led by
Sister Kathee. This prayer consists of the Liturgy of
the Word for the given day and reception of Holy
Communion from the reserved Eucharist in the taber-
nacle. As part of the prayer, the Blessed Sacrament in
the monstrance is placed on the altar. The church
would then be open for the remaining hours of the day
for private prayer, reflection, and adoration. This day
of prayer will conclude with Benediction led by Dea-
con Bob.
The schedule for First Friday is as follows:
Communion Service @ 8:00 a.m.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament all day
Benediction @ 7:00 p.m.
In order to hold Adoration we need to have people in
the church at prayer throughout the day. Traditionally,
parishioners “sign up” for an hour of adoration. Ide-
ally, there should be two or more people in the church
on any given hour. This is primarily for safety reasons.
Please consider sharing in this time of private prayer
and praise before our Eucharistic Lord. We invite you
to “sign up” for a given time on the clipboards that are
found at the doors of the church.

tails. Checks should be made to: CFL Chapter N442.
NATIVITY SET
Wow! In less than 24 hours, every piece of
our new Nativity set was claimed as a me-
morial gift. Your generosity is overwhelming. The
name(s) of those to be remembered will be inscribed on
the base of each piece. A larger, more public listing
will be placed near the Nativity display when it is dis-
played this Advent/Christmas season. Many thanks to
all who have donated these for this new set.
The Parish Office is now located in
the Rectory at St. Thomas More
Church. For all Parish business,
please call 508-673-7831 or email
Please be aware that we have noticed some suspicious
activity around the back of the St. Louis de France
School building. To better secure this property, the
ground floor windows on the sides and back of the
building have been boarded. As a cost saving meas-
ure, the pipes of the building will be drained and the
water and heat shut off for the winter months. Elec-
tricity will remain for the security lights and fire alarm
system. Within the next month or so, we will be
cleaning out the building. Stay tuned for details.
