It is present in every aspect of the church’s life. Whenever there is a need, someone always seems to step up to the plate ready to enter the game. • Camp PenielThe Church at Horseshoe Bay, through the Benevolence Committee Fund, supports the

work at Camp Peniel with camperships, and most recently with mission work performedon-site, helping with grounds and buildings preparation and upkeep. Also, mission dollars

were donated toward the purchase of a badly needed food cooler. See the camp’s informative website atwww.camppeniel.org for more donation opportunities or to book a spot for your group or camper.

Here is a little information about the organization. Camp Peniel began in 1946 as a vision by the founders,Gordon & Alice Whitelock. During the 40's, Gordon worked on the full-time staff of Young Life, pastored achurch, and began taking kids camping in the Piney Woods near Houston, Texas. In 1945 land was leased forthe camp at Double Lake in East Texas. In 1959, the Camp found its new and current location, east of MarbleFalls on Hwy. 1431. Brian Anderson currently serves as Executive Director.

Retreats at Camp Peniel are an adventure on 310 acres of the beautiful hill country. The Camp is a non-denominational ministry with the sole purpose of reaching today’s youth for Jesus Christ. Each week is fun-packed with swimming in the spring-fed lake, hiking, riding horses, and trying the challenging zip line. Life-changing experiences occur because of the extreme fun and the rock solid Bible training received. The mis-sion is for campers to strengthen their personal relationship with Christ, while experiencing an adventure witha purpose. A variety of camps will follow with a greater emphasis on adult involvement than in the summer, ending with a Thanksgiving family camp. Thank you for your continued support!

The vision of this class is to growtogether in the Lord, to be prayer partners and to provide en-couragement, comfort and hope to each other. This class spon-sors a child from Compassion International each month. If youare looking for a women’s bible study, this may be the perfectclass for you.

Coffee Fellowship is hosted each Sunday by members ofthe church and is held after both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. The coffee and cookies are furnished by the church. It is awonderful time to become better acquainted with members ofthe church as well as visit with your friends. All members, visitors and guests are invited to attend and participate in thisfellowship. There is a sign-up board in the fellowship hall forserving as a host. Be sure and come next Sunday!

The Chancel Choir adds much to the service of the church. These members enjoy singing and the fellowship and fun thataccompany it. The Chancel Choir is under the direction of ourMinister of Music, Larry Sherwood, and rehearses eachWednesday at 2:30 p.m. September through June and providesmusic for the 11:00 a.m. service and for special services. Fel-lowship and learning activities are also a part of the choir'syear. Larry says if you like to sing, give him a call!

The Handbell Choir is under the direction of director We-nona Burks and rehearsal is held each Monday from 1:00 to2:30 p.m. in the Music Building. Endearingly referred to asthe “ting-a-lings” the group requires 12 to 15 ringers to coverthe many octaves of bells. If you are interested in ringing withthem, please call the church office. Both the chancel choir andthe handbell choir take a break from July to September, but ourMinister of Music makes sure that the excellent quality of mu-sic continues throughout the year.

    HabitatNeeds HelpersHighland Lakes Habitat

for Humanity has beenblessed with many who

wield a hammer or paintbrush, although wecould always use more volunteers, but thereis more to Habitat than that. We screen andsupport “partner families” and we meet inplanning sessions monthly to discuss land, financial stewardship, safety, short andlong-range goals and many other relatedtopics.

A very faithful group of volunteers serveon our board or in our committees, but theywant some new faces, new ideas, and ulti-mately, new leadership. If you share in ourbelief that God’s children deserve the op-portunity to work for clean, safe, affordablehousing, we would like to talk with you.For more information, call Jon Bergstrom at512-755-1848 or [email protected] orTheron Brooks at 830-693-2656 or

    [email protected].

Sanctuary LightsHave you noticed a difference in the

sanctuary lighting? You may not have no-ticed, but all of the hanging lights in theSanctuary have been completely reworked, including new stronger chain, new wiresand new sockets. There is no longer a dan-ger of the lights “falling”. They may swaybut they will not fall.

Additionally, we replaced all of the bulbsand changed them to energy saving compactfluorescent lights, which use 42 watts toproduce 150 watts of light. This will helpsave on our monthly electric bill! The elec-trician added extra rods to lower the lightsover the chancel choir area so that they cansee their music more clearly.

JUNE 12O God, who on this daytaught the hearts ofyour faithful people bysending to them thelight of your HolySpirit: Grant us by thesame Spirit to have a

right judgment in all things, and evermore torejoice in his holy comfort. Amen.
