BENEDICTION

POSTLUDE “Thine is the Glory” Handel JOHN 12:12-16 (NIV) “The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus

was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, ‘Hosanna!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Blessed is the king of Israel!’ Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: ‘Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.’ At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.”

CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE)

**Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals and bulletins are available for use during services. Please contact an usher if you would like to use one of these.

CONFIRMATION THROUGH BAPTISM Abby Apodaca Jane Hill Alexander Kerfoot *Maggie Moran Megan Starses

CALL TO WORSHIP L: Hosanna to the Son of David, the King of Israel. P: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! L: This day he entered the holy city of Jerusalem and was proclaimed king by those who spread their garments and palm branches along his way. P: Let these branches be for us signs of his victory; and grant that we who bear them may always acclaim Jesus Messiah by walking in his ways. L: May we trust in his death and rising which provides, for all, the way of entry into your eternal kingdom. P: Through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with God Almighty and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

HYMN “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” No. 297 (Verses 1 & 2)

PROCESSION OF PALMS

PALM SUNDAY RESPONSIVE PRAYER: L: Lord God, today we wave our palm branches, cry for help, and lay the green leaves on the dusty ground P: in hopes that our prayers will reach your ears. L: Save us, God, from our greed, our arrogance, our selfishness; from our ignorance, our apathy, our complicity.

P: Save us, God, from sickness and abuse; from people who would have us be someone other than ourselves. L: Following Jesus calls us to sacrifice and yield; sit still and explore; forgive and love. P: So we ask you, and we ask each other, for help, for companionship, for love. L: Will you enliven us to help each other? To share the bread and the cup not only with our loved ones but with our enemies, too? P: Lord, help us to be your hands and feet this Holy Week. L: Let us now pray together the prayer our Lord taught us: P: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
