25 Years Together2013 Marks the Silver
Anniversary of Brian and Mary
We have had a wonderful time
this year reflecting on how God
has blessed us through our
marriage. Thank You Lord for
these 25 years!
Visit from Marys DadWe had a simply wonderful visit
from Marys father Norm.
Marys father Norman visited from
Vero Beach, Florida and we enjoyed
a special time traveling around
Guatemala and catching up. The
kids loved having Papa around
and are looking forward to seeing
him over Christmas.
January: We began the year
with a VBS with the Osborn
Family in El Zonte, El Salvador,
a ministry we hope will becomea full time project of AMG, and
our first in El Salvador! We
hosted teams from GHO
(Surgical) and New England
Bible Church (Construction/
Pastor Training). AMG
Guatemala hosted our first
Latin American Regional
meeting for AMG, a realblessing. We also had meetings
with the Guatemalan
Government on working with
youth and Church-based foster
care.
February: We had the annual
pleasure of meeting with Word
& Deed/ FRMI leader, Rick
Postma and then met with and
formed partnership plans with
World Orphans of Colorado, a
relationship that is going to help
us to mobilize the Church in
Guatemala to take on the
challenge of suffering children.
Later in the month we attended
the Intermissions Conference
and shared with other ministries
and missions organizations from
across the country.
March: The amazing annual
team from Grand Rapids visited
and helped finish construction
on our new Child Protection
and Restoration Building. They
have come for years and are like
family to us!

Abbies GraduationOur oldest, Abbie, graduated from
high school in May. We are so
proud of her! She achieved much
in her 4 years and graduated with
high honors. We tearfully left her
in Denver, Colorado in August, the
impetus of our month long trip
across the country in a borrowed
RV. She will be majoring in
Worship Arts (Music Major). Our
trip was so special! We visited
many close friends and family
members along the way and sawso much of this beautiful country!
Time to RefreshThis furlough has been a
wonderful time to look back on
our last 5 1/2 years serving the
Lord in Guatemala, to take a
break from Latin America and to
rekindle our friendships, family
relationships and those with oursupporting families and churches.
We are looking forward to
returning to Guatemala in January
and to many years more serving
our Lord, Jesus! Please pray for
these final weeks of our furlough,
for our familys safety in travel and
for our ministry in Guatemala.

2013 has been a tremendous year for our medical
teams ministry. We have hosted more teams than
ever before, bringing life-saving surgeries, medical
attention and the Gospel of Jesus to so manywithout any access to health care.
AMG Guatemala has continued its quest for good
partnerships in Guatemala. The latest came from
an alumni of AMG, Noah, who is the Regional
Director of Habitat Guatemala. AMG andHabitat are now official partners in Guatemala.
ALUMNIAMG has ministered in
Guatemala for 37 years
and has never had an
alumni association!
Well, we organized a
celebration of alumni
and hundreds attended!
Many were motivated to
volunteer, help others
through child
sponsorship and give
back that which they
received from AMG!
Chapters will be formed
across the country
starting this year.
University Ties
Our relationship with
Mariano Galvez
University has been
fruitful, with their team
presenting the results of
a study of our urban
youth population. The
conclusions are sad and
motivate us to move
ahead with many new
youth programs that will
truly make a difference
in their lives! Many
urban youth suffer
malnutrition, trauma
from violence and
abuse, a lack of parental
guidance/love and have
contemplated suicide.
