Earmarks

• Funding is released over the 5 year period at rate of 20% per year.

• Some projects listed have already been completed, some listed multiple times.

• Typically provide less than 10% of cost.• Some earmarks displace program funds a state

would normally receive, resulting in less core funds than under TEA-21.

Changes to CMAQ Program in SAFETEA LU

• Expands eligibility to include advanced truck stop electrification, inter-operable emergency communications equipment, and transportation systems management and operations projects.

• Calls for priority to be given to diesel retrofit projects and other cost-effective strategies that improve air quality.
