Celebration of the Arts

Friday, May 15th

6:00 p.m.

Invite your friends and family to join you as we celebrate the talents of our

students. We will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the

gymnasium for a special performance by the

students in Miss Carolyn’s dance class. We will then

move the celebration over to the church where our

preschool ~ 5th grade students will share the music they have learned throughout

the school year. Beautiful artwork created by all of the children at Gloria Dei

will be on display and available for purchase (cash or checks only) by family and

friends.

Our incredible evening will

end with a performance

beginning at 8:00 p.m. by

The Concordia University

Chamber Choir, a 16-voice

select ensemble chosen from

the internationally acclaimed

A Cappella Choir.

The University Chamber

Choir travels extensively

throughout the United

States and performs a

diverse mix of sacred and

secular chamber choral music representative of many historical periods. This

year’s concert will include the music of Randall Thompson, John Gardner, John

Rutter, John Ness Beck, K. Lee Scott, Jonathan Quick and others.

MANDATORY ATTENDANCE According to Florida State Standards all students

K-5th grade are required to participate in public performances. This quarter the standard will be met with our students’ participation in the Celebration of the Arts on Friday, May 15th.

This will be part of your child’s music grade. Attendance is mandatory.

Did you get a yearbook?

We still have a few available in the academy office

for only $15.00 each. (while supplies last)

Discover His plan! Discover His purpose! In Camp Discovery VBS the children will learn that Jesus works in and through us!

We’ll look into the Bible and explore five “tree-mendous” Bible accounts where God works in

His people to save them and through His people to serve. Jesus gives us faith, courage, and

wisdom to help our family, our friends and our neighbors and to give God glory right now!

God has a plan and a purpose for us!

Age 3 - Grade 5

Registration forms were sent home last week and are also available in the Academy office.

Please remember to lift our VBS in your prayers as we plan and prepare!

If you are able to volunteer please contact Carol Jones at 954-663-5855.

What a blessing to be able to offer our VBS as a ministry of Gloria Dei and at no charge to

families! This can only happen with your support. It costs approximately $25.00 per child for

our one week program. Please consider sponsoring a child or making a donation for Vacation

Bible School. Envelopes for that purpose are available on the desk in the narthex or simply

mark your donation VBS. One way God works through us can be found in 1 John 4:19.

“We love because He first loved us.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Book Fair last week. Our sales totaled $3,394.00. The library at Gloria Dei will receive lots of new books and in addition, the classrooms received some wonderful books for their libraries. We are very thankful for all of your support.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who either decorated or worked the Book Fair and made it all possible. It couldn’t be done without You! Thank you Shazia Baum, Noreen Commella,

Mike Conner, Toni Consalvo, Ana Dias, Analisa Espinoza, Dania Quintero, Yvonne Rodriguez, Darla Schulte, Geraldine Slomanski and our Coordinator, Cindy Conner.

A total of $171.36 was donated to the All For Books program to benefit our library. These donations, along with others from around the country, will be matched by Scholastic with a donation of up to a million books to three non-profit programs devoted to improving reading skills among children: Kids in Distressed Situations, National Center for Family Literacy, and Toys for Tots. We hope you enjoyed seeing your fish on the wall at the Book Fair.

We really appreciate it.

Congratulations to Taylor Conner, Ronnie Reitsma, and Haleigh Rodriguez for winning the Bucket of Books drawing at our Family Night Event and to Liv Becker for winning a $25.00 gift certificate by guessing closest to the number of fish in the tank.
