Forty and Fabulous!

Not many clubs can boast about celebrating 40 years as an organization but Diablo Valley Mustang Associa-

tion is one of the few that CAN and DID on Sunday, September 22, 2019! There was food, reminiscing, more

food, brain teasers, more food, catching up with old friends, and lots of laughs. The Blackhawk Grille put on

a great brunch and the service was terrific.

We also installed the new officers for the next year 2019-2020. Right up front we want to thank those that

stepped up to serve, as this club would not exist if not for people willing to do the work of running it. And it

IS work. Hours and hours are put into planning and implementing all the activities everyone enjoys every

month and we are so grateful to everyone involved. Take a look at the headshots of your new board and re-

member to give them an “atta-boy” (or girl, as the case may be). One of the other features of the anniversary

party was to recognize some special people. First was our oldest member who’s been with the club since

1981 and is in his 80s now, Frank Rowland, who was given an award designating him as our Member Emeri-

tus which is to say he’s a very honored and treasured member of our club. The second recognition award

went to Matthew Hawkes, who’s in his mid twenties and truly represents the future of this club. He stepped

up to accept the vice president position and is so enthusiastic about the club and it’s activities and is willing

to help in any way he’s needed. Then came an award of recognition for 40 years (yes, he is a founding mem-

ber of DVMA) of almost continuous service to this club, Ed Guldner. His devotion to this club over that 40

years is immeasurable and a plaque surely does not encompass the hard work over the years but it was a

small token of our thanks for his efforts. Thank you Ed.

After the awards and officer installation came a trivia quiz about, you guessed it, MUSTANGS and things

about the year 1979, the year DVMA was founded. One of our younger members, Susanne Freitas, won.

Some of us stuck around and wandered over to the Blackhawk Auto Museum and immersed ourselves in

some more cars for the rest of the afternoon. What a terrific day of celebration honoring the past but certainly

looking to the future of DVMA.

President Message from Harry Davis

We had a great showing and wonderful event, planned by John and Anne

Haugrud. Many many thanks for an enjoyable lunch and afternoon. Note that

henceforth, the Officer Installation dinner will be known as ANNUAL BASH!

There are several things coming up in October. Dwight Moreland is planning a

volunteer visit to the Food Bank on Oct 15, and needs to make a specific reser-

vation for our team. Are you on the team with Captain Dwight?

Other events are being planned for your enjoyment. Nicole Melton has a group

going to the Petaluma Pumpkin Patch and Maze on Oct 26; and Karen Davis

has scheduled a drive to the Walt Disney Family Museum on Nov 16. Don’t

forget the Adopt-A-Street on Nov 2. Check the calendar that Ed Guldner sends

to all of our members, and look at the website that is updated regularly by Ni-

cole Melton. There are options for you to join DVMA friends, using the web-

site and the Event Book at our meetings.

December isn’t far away, and DVMA members will get together for the Annual

Christmas party on Dec 1. Please reserve your spot about a week before, since

El Tapatio will want to know how many of us will attend. Look in this news-

letter for all the information.

We are all looking forward to the Nov 15 release of the movie Ford VS Ferrari.

Maybe an email can get us all together at the theatre!!! Plan to see that movie.

Harry Davis

We Have So Much To Be Thankful For

produce. Working as a team, volunteers check food for quality, sort by category, and box orr bag for distribu-

tion.

Please join us for this volunteer opportunity by emailing Dwight Moreland at [email protected] All

members, members’ family and friends are welcome (youth must be at least 11years old to participate). I will

add your name to the DVMA Team and email you more detailed information. If you have any questions,

comments or concerns, please feel free to include them in your email. Your participation is sincerely appreci-

ated. Thank you…………………………...Dwight Moreland
