In August 2004, after several months of reconstruction, the museumreopened its doors. tripling its original size since it started in 1995. Themuseum is divided into sections that explore the area’s glacial history, continuing through pre-white settlement, to how and why the area wassettled, highlighting important milestones along the way.

The museums “hands-on” programs and exhibits are designed tointerpret history beyond what one would read on the written page in ahistory book. Our Civil War reenactment is a perfect example of how wemake history come alive. The museum does have glass exhibit casesbut most of our artifacts are “outside the box” and are touchable. Wealso have a Kids Corner for children to play with games and toys ofyesteryear.

The museum also has a resource center, which holds hundreds ofbooks, photos, and newspapers.
