WMU Meeting The WMU will meet Tuesday, January 14, 2020, in Beane Hall at 10:30 am. We will

have a short business meeting which will include dinner for the Free Health Clinic at the end of the month. After the meeting, we will go out for our annual luncheon.

DEAR ONES, Christmas! Christmas time! Christmastide! What a wonderful, wonderful season!

Yes, sometimes a bit on the busy side and far too commercialized for my tastes. But what joy there is to be had in the excuse to pull out pleasant decorations, sing beloved carols and hymns, attend meaningful concerts and pageants, and, especially, to gather with others. What a wonderful time of year!

Some Christmases ago I penned a bit of verse that Elaine employed in the course of the Christmas Cantata on December 22.

Armloads of packages we want to send; Holiday greetings to family and friends; Dinners together, what fantastic feasts, Baubles and prizes and sugary treats. This place to go, yes, and that to attend; People to cherish and some loves to mend. All of these lovely commitments to keep, Add but one happy appointment to meet. A light in the east and a chorus did beckon, Wise men and commoners, you, too, come in! Visit the Christ, for his comp’ny is sweet. Your impulse to Bethlehem also be fleet. Make haste and bring with you all of your friends. There’s a Savior to worship, a stable to tend.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the last lines, what they mean to you, and what you might be inclined to do in response to the urgency represented as “a stable to tend”.

This remarkable season and certainly with the New Year upon us, commit anew to serving the interests of the Christ child. In some new way, serve Him. And, certainly, serve him with a happy, earnest heart.

See you where the church gathers,

JIM

Woman’s Missionary Union We are thankful to all of you at KBC who are making the ministries of WMU possible. We

could not do all we do without your help and donations.

This past year we provided the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic with dinner twice, had birthday parties for the Lancashire residents twice, and worked with the Joy Group to make Chrismons for the Christmas tree.

In March we started collecting supplies and were able to deliver four grocery bags of yarn, patterns, and crochet hooks for the veterans at Haynesville Correctional Center. This type of art therapy was especially for those who suffer from PTSD. The veterans made 96 hats, 4 hat and scarf sets, and one blanket which were donated to Westmoreland County Social Services. This program will continue and will focus on the elderly, needy families, and veterans.

Cookies were delivered to schools for teacher appreciation, Law Enforcement Officer’s Bibles were given to local police departments, and underwear and warm gloves, mufflers, and hats were sent to Standing Rock Indian Reservation for the children.

You helped us with craft supplies for the Boys and Girls Club and school supplies for the primary school. Our children’s Sunday School class was able to order items from the Christmas Samaritan’s Purse Catalog to send to children around the world. They ordered Honeybees, Baby Chicks, Gospel Booklets, Blankets and Bedding, and ‘Jesus Loves Me’ Lambs. From the same catalog the WMU group focused on Orphan Care, Hot Meals for a Child, Feed a Hungry Baby, and Providing Medical Equipment.

Once again we were able to provide Christmas for Shalom Garden Orphanage Home in Kenya.

Your support made all of these missions happen. Thank you KBC!

Note from the Prayer Shawl Group

Our shelves runneth over! If you have a family member or a friend you feel would benefit from having one of our prayer shawls or lap rugs, please take one to share and include a prayer card. If possible, we would love to have a picture for our bulletin board.

Food Pantry The KBC Food Pantry has been involved in two new USDA programs for the past year and it's been a great success. We have been able to provide more nutritious food in greater quantities to our clients.

THANK YOU to all of those who provide monetary donations and canned and packaged food. We especially want to thank the more than 25 volunteers who provide their time each month at the Food Pantry - what a blessing to our community!!!!

And thank you to those who provided turkeys or monetary donations to buy turkeys in December. We were able to provide a turkey or turkey roast to EVERY family who came to the Food Pantry.

JOY Just Older Youth In early December, Joy ministries delivered the Santa Gnomes that we had made, along with a bag of candy and a Christmas card, to 25 people. We sincerely appreciate all who helped us accomplish the visits. Our gifts and visits were very much appreciated.

2019 was another great year for JOY. We enjoyed many things together over the year and now look forward to another year ahead, in 2020, to enjoy more exciting things. We hope you’ll join us in the New Year at our annual planning meeting on January 28, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in Beane Hall.

During this time, we will consider places to visit and things to do in 2020. At the top of our list are sites in Richmond. There is so much to see and do there. Information will be made available on possible sites. This is your time to have input on what we will experience the coming new year.

This will be our annual breakfast meeting. Please bring breakfast casseroles, or any breakfast food that you’d like to share with the group. We look forward to your joining us!

Hanging of the Greens The Christmas season started off with the KCB Annual Hanging of the Greens service on December 1. Poinsettias were placed on their pedestals, wreathes were hung, and congregants placed Chrismon ornaments on the tree. It was a beautiful ceremony full of music and scripture readings.

Grace Gates has crafted more than 90 ornaments for our Chrismon Tree.

Building Repairs A meeting was held after the service on Sunday, December 15, 2019, to consider a proposal regarding the replacement of the siding, gutter box repairs and several other items. A vote was held, and all improvements were approved. Work will begin in early spring. If you have any questions, please see Jim Baker.

Children’s Mission

Our Children’s Mission project was carried out by Ethan and Jameson. They made nativity lanterns for Pastor Jim to deliver when he visited church members in December.

Children’s Mission usually meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and the next meeting will be on January 12 immediately following the Children’s Message.

KBC Christmas Luncheon Once again, the Christmas Luncheon was a huge success. Approximately 80 people came out to enjoy food and fellowship on December 8. Pictured are part of the kitchen crew: Margaret Headley, Margaret Denkinger, and Edna Mason. Not pictured are Debbie Sachen and Jenny Crandall.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new

creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Master’s Blend ‘Family and Friends’ Sunday Morning Breakfast The Masters Blend Sunday School class hosted a breakfast for the KBC church family on December 22. Good food, fellowship with those who love the Lord, and a celebration of our Savior’s birth, made this year’s Master’s Blend breakfast a blessing to all! George Hutchings won the award for best Christmas tie and socks. And Linda Enders-Bailey made and donated a Keurig coffee stand for use by the class.

My dear friend in Christ,

Happy sweet December! Greetings from Myanmar in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior! It is always our joy to bring you our ministry update and prayer needs. Thank you again for your prayer and financial support

Victory International School (VIS) Following is our recent activities and prayer concerns we would like to address. Nov.

8 was around the world costume day and Nov. 29 was our Fun day for Nursery thru Grade 1. We are now busy preparing for our Christmas programs which will be held on Dec. 19 with the theme called “Light of the World,” and on Dec. 20 we will play “Oh, Jonah” musical drama. Parents will be invited, and there will be lots of activities with lots of food for purchase to support the school.

Here are some needs and concerns we would like to request for your prayer support: please pray for land for the school; we still have to pay two-third from the land we have purchased next to where we are now. And we are planning to raise school fee a bit starting from next academic year, we really need

God’s wisdom for that; and at least 3 new teachers for upper and lower Grades. We also ask your prayer support for our current teachers for their short time training during the summer in and outside Myanmar. Please continue to pray also for colleges or universities where our students can continue their further education (this is parents’ most concern); and for more churches or organizations to work with us, and help us keep the quality of the school. Water Filter & Education

Our purpose at Victory is also to provide water filtration system and better place for better education as instruments to share the Gospel of Christ in disadvantaged communities. Time to time we build live-sand water filters up in the Northern part of Myanmar and distribute Lilypad water filters around Yangon city. And we also provide resources for existing schools in those areas. Please continue to pray for this project.

Victory Community Chapel (VCC) VCC continue to hold its Sunday worship service and Sunday school regularly. Praise God, we can continue to support 7 missionary pastors for their education at Preacher Academy. Christmas season is a good time where we can share the Gospel of Christ while providing big feast for the whole communities. We are planning to host such programs at least to three different mission churches we are associated with. Thank you again for your prayer and heart for VIS Myanmar. Any gift at all is helpful. If you or your churches are interested to donate for the works of VIS Ministries in Myanmar, you can contact us at any time. Thanks. Grace and Peace, Lal Sawi Vula (Victor) Managing Director H.
