ish in various capacities. Your time, your talents and your
love for one another is greatly appreciated. As we start the
new year please take a few minutes to review the important
dates and customary events that you organize for this com-
munity. Please forward meeting dates, times and size
groups to your parish secretary as soon as possible, please
keep in mind holidays and Holy days. Also as a reminder,
bulletin announcements to be publish for any given week-
end need to be turned in via email no later than Tuesdays of
the work week. Help us maintain an accurate publication of
meetings and gatherings, so all of our fellow parishioners
can schedule and enjoy what we put together as a parish.

What's the difference between a Bible and a Lection-
ary?
A Lectionary is composed of the readings and the re-
sponsorial psalm assigned for each Mass of the year
(Sundays, weekdays, and special occasions). The read-
ings are divided by the day or the theme (baptism, mar-
riage, vocations, etc.) rather than according to the books
of the Bible. Introductions and conclusions have been
added to each reading. Not all of the Bible is included in
the Lectionary.
Individual readings in the Lectionary are called perico-
pes, from a Greek word meaning a "section" or
"cutting." Because the Mass readings are only portions
of a book or chapter, introductory phrases, called in-
cipits, are often added to begin the Lectionary reading,
for example, "In those days," "Jesus said to his disci-
ples," etc.

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre una Biblia y un Lec-
cionario?
Un Leccionario se compone de las lecturas y el salmo

observances after Jesus’ birth. Have your children or younger
family members followed through on receiving all of their sac-
raments? Try inviting them back, if they have not.
