We’ve had such a busy start to the year. It’s

hard to believe that we are halfway through

week 5 already.

All students in years 7-10 have received a 2017

Assessment Booklet. This outlines the

assessments that they have due over the course

of the year. There is a cardboard calendar

inside that students can display at home as a

reminder of the tasks they have due.

This year, students in Years 5/6 are running

UCS YUM. They are putting a great deal of

time and effort into the business and are

working hard to get their vegetable gardens

started. Year 4 are helping with the selling of

the produce down the street each week. This is

doing wonders for their confidence as they

have to converse with a range of people. Keep

up the great work Mrs McClintock and

students!

Term 1 is one of the busiest terms for sport.

Last Thursday we had the Lower Lachlan

carnival. We have 12 students who have

qualified to go to the Western carnival, which

is a fantastic effort. We also took home the

handicap trophy, which is based on student

numbers. A huge congratulations to Hugh

Williams who was the 11 year boy champion!

Great effort, Hugh! Coming up soon we have

tennis, cricket and AFL.

As part of the flood initiative I mentioned

earlier in the term, we have received $800 to

spend on sporting equipment. We have used

the funds to purchase AFL guernseys for the

school, in our maroon, black

and white colours. They will

have our school logo and school

name on the back. Hopefully

they will arrive soon.

Yesterday, the Ungarie Central School P & C

held their first meeting for 2017. It was great

to see some new faces at the meeting, as well

as our regular attendees. The next meeting will

be Wednesday 22nd March, starting at 2pm.

This is the AGM, where new office bearers will

be elected. Please come along and support our

P & C. It is only one hour each month out of

your time.

Mr Dodhy and Mrs Jackson spent Monday

planning for Year 9/10 STEM (Science,

Technology, Engineering, Maths), along with

Mr Blue from Lake Cargelligo Central School.

There are some exciting projects planned for

this year and we look forward to sharing these

with you over the year.

Earlier this week we had the last part of our

front fence completed. Our next step is to

beautify the brick wall at the front entrance,

with the help of some of our Year 9/10

Design and Technology students.

Paint Shirts

Could you send in a clearly named paint shirt for your child to protect them from destroying their clothes

during their creative moments. Thank you.

Fruit Attack

It is great to see so many students bringing in fruit for fruit attack. Students are able to bring fruit or

vegetables but not tinned fruit.

A healthy lunch keeps active kids alert and focused

and gives them the nutrition they need every day. But

no matter how healthy your child’s lunch box is, it

won’t provide any nutritional value if it doesn’t get

eaten! Search Healthy School Lunch Boxes for some

great sites with good ideas.

CommBank School Banking

Attached to student’s newsletters
