Introducing the JJA

Dear Readers:

I would like to formally introduce myself and my

organization. My name is Brielle Nightland and I am the founder

and head of the Jorvik Judges Association.

This organization was established to provide riders from all

servers with the resources to learn more about their chosen

equestrian discipline and to produce standards for the competitions

in Jorvik.

As a competitive dressage rider I am well aware that it can

be difficult to enter this competition field specifically. Most clubs

require applications and set standards for “elite” riders and often do

not have very many open spots for beginners. Also, many teams have

different terms and explanations for the various dressage

movements in SSO. This makes it difficult to enter the dressage

competitions or clubs.

The JJA’s goal is to rectify the problem by creating

standardized terms for all moves in SSO dressage from novice to

advanced and to provide tests that can prove a rider or trainer

understands those terms and is qualified to teach other riders. Any

rider may access our learning materials through our website for free!

Although the JJA was originally founded for dressage, we

intend to expand our accreditation and certification tests to include

all other disciplines in the SSO community.

Welcome to a new standard. We hope you will join us.

Meet Water Aces Legacy, a new club founded in August of this

year. They are headed by Kristina Ponyheart along with her club leaders

Abbie Maccamp, Mariana Cloudwatcher, Edith Grayfield, and Stepha-

nie Westpoulos. We met with Kristina to chat about her goals for the club

and what she hopes to provide for her members.

Kristina says the main goal for WAL is to have members who enjoy

riding and competition. She plans to start a dressage team called “Water

Waves” or something along those lines. The team will have to work hard

to get to the elite status but she’s up for it. She says most of her riders are

at the novice level currently, but she is fully willing to train them up to the

advanced level herself.

While she does plan to have a specific breed required for her dres-

sage team, there is no need to buy a certain breed to join the club and

participate in general club events. And that includes representing the

club in single competition. “I want my club members to enjoy their com-

petition on a horse they feel is right,” Kristina told us.

Kristina also chose a club

outfit that won’t “break

the bank.” She told us

she chose this outfit so

her riders “Do not have

to spend a lot of star

coins or jorvik shillings for

the club.” It’s clear that

Kristina wants her club to

enjoy their time in train-

ing and competition. If

you are interested in

WAL you can visit their

website here https://water-aces-legacy.wixsite.com/

We wish them the best and hope to see their dressage team in some of

our future competitions! Good luck Water Aces!

Show in Style

#JJAshowvogue

The Show season is here! And with it comes

the need for perfectly fitting, eye catching, and

classy show attire! Here at the JJA we have part-

nered with Jollister Clothing Co. to showcase some

of the best show outfits for the fall shows!

*The following article was not a paid sponsorship for

Jollister Clothing Co. All outfits designed by Jollister Co.

will be noted in the article.

First Up is the classic Show jumping coat.

Reed Kessler along with JJA founder, Brielle

Nightland, are both displaying a show ring ready

look! Reed is wearing the scarlet coat permitted on-

ly in the jumper ring and Brielle is wearing a nice

clean blue jumper coat that is permitted in the

jumper and hunter ring. White or tan breeches are

acceptable for most jumper shows and to finish off

the look, choose a pair of shiny black tall boots,

black or white gloves, and a sleek black helmet.

Out in the Forest

Here are a few models from Jollister to

show you a few cross country outfits.

First, we have Holly Bluestar showing a classic

hunter green on the XC course. This color is per-

fect for the upcoming Fall season and we dare you

to show us a horse that doesn’t look good in a clas-

sic green! You will be warm and cozy throughout

your entire course even during chilly morning

runs!

Next, we have a lovely pink set. This horse and

rider are the perfect pair in pink! If you are look-

ing for a brighter set for fall this is it! Thank you

Jollister Clothing for showing off this set at the

#GoldenHorseShoe show last month! The pink will

make you stand out and all the other competitors

and judges are sure to see you flying over the

course in this outfit!

And finally, we have a set that will look great

on any mount! This blue saddle pad and leg

wraps will compliment your horse whether

you prefer brown or black tack. We found this

look pairs great with chestnuts and greys best.

The contrast to their coat color is perfection!

The short sleeve matching top is great for the

days that fall seems to slip backwards into

summer with warmer days. But find a nice

blue XC vest and jacket and you’ll be set all the

way till winter!

Show Jumpers and Hunters

Alma Cloudbell is looking very classy in her

Jollister Clothing outfit. The most professional look

you can find in the jumper or hunter ring is a

black coat, tan or white breeches, and black shiny

boots. Pair it with black or white gloves and a

black helmet and you are in business! This look is

best suited for equitation classes or hunter classes

although it is appropriate for all classes.

If you are looking for a bit more color and

are not constricted by a specific dress code, this

look is perfect for getting the attention of every-

one in the arena. The blue coat keeps it classy

while the contrasting red helmet, leg wraps, and

trim on the saddle pad make the look POP! This

look would be appropriate for a jumper competi-

tion where the timed ride is the only concern and

not points will be deducted for an untraditional

outfit.

Here we have a hunter outfit that is tradi-

tional but with a little flare. Plaid can be used in

most hunter courses as long as it is neutral in col-

or. When you have a dark-colored horse this

lighter tan-yellow plaid will allow your riding to

stand out a bit more than if you were wearing a

black coat. And of course, fall is the perfect time

to bring out the subtle natural colors like this!

Dressage and Flat Classes

For a nice polished dressage look, use a black coat,

white breeches, black or white gloves, and black boots. You

can wear a top hat or helmet in black as well. But if you

want a little more color and are permitted to wear it, Wil-

low Clearpath has your perfect look! This mix of blues and

reds look great on her bay Lusitano and it will look great on

yours too!

For a more neutral look, try this brown set

from Dundull. Holly Bluestar and Briar Rose-

wood both look stunning in the natural look, and

so do their horses! This look premiered at the

#GoldenHorseShoe show in September. Go check

it out for yourself and see if this is your new

dressage show set!

Anyone who is just introducing him or

her self or their horse to dressage may

want to enter some flat classes. These

classes do not require the same type of

riding outfit as dressage, but it is

similar. A simple riding jacket in your

choice of color along with neutral

breeches (tan, white, black, gray) and

sturdy riding boots will do the trick!

Classic black jacket with

white breeches, black boots,

and black helmet.

This is as traditional as you can get! A dark wool

coat, tan breeches, black boots, and brown tack. Mix

your own style into this design by adding some leg

wraps or customizing your saddle pad choice!

You can also spruce us a timeless look by add-

ing some plaid pieces. We hear Jarlaheim is the

place to be if you are looking for a nice plaid

riding coat, saddle pad, or leg wraps!

On a more relaxed foxhunt with friends, you

could try out this stylish and foxy sweater! It is

warm and unrestricting as it will stretch a lit-

tle with your movements (unlike traditional

wool coats).

Why not make a versatile outfit for 2 events?

Pair this hunting coat with the blue XC set and

you will be a stylish but traditional rider! The

blue pad shows up great on grays if you want a

little pop of subtle color on the hunt!

The Druids know a thing or two about

traipsing through the forest in your riding boots.

If you can land a pair of these (shown here in green

and brown) you will be good to go for any and all

adventures in the chilly weather. These boots are

durable, comfortable, and look fantastic. If you

take your horse for trail rides or overnights out in

the woods often, you will love them! Just be sure to

oil them well if you plan to wade through water!

But they may be the best replacement for your

river boots!

If you need some water-proofing but aren’t

up for all the care required for the Druid boots, you

may enjoy these green wellies! In a classic hunter

green color, these boots will keep you dry while you

mosey around your stable caring for your horses in

their warm stalls. They are not as warm as the

leather Druid boots, but as long as you don’t plan

on running or riding around outdoors, you won’t

have anything to worry about!

You may have also noticed the lovely black

jacket in these photos. This is the Star Stable exclu-

sive jacket from the lifetime store. It’s free to life-

time star riders and it works well as a coat for

chores around the barn as well as riding out in the

fields. You may even be able to layer it under a

heavier coat for this winter! The outer shell is

breathable yet woven tightly enough to prevent

hay particles from getting caught in the material!

It’s a horse lover’s dream!
