“THE LEGO® MOVIE™ 4D A NEW ADVENTURE”

In its 20th birthday year, guests to the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort in 2016 should be prepared for

some seriously awesome film fun with the opening of an ALL NEW 4D cinema presentation.

"The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure" reunites characters from “The LEGO® Movie™” from

Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and The LEGO® Group, and also brings together

some of the original voices. Written by Adam Pava (writer of “The Boxtrolls”) and co-written and

directed by Rob Schrab (director of the sequel to “The LEGO Movie," debuting in May of 2018), it

features a whole new plot - and mixed with amazing 4D effects, promises a uniquely imaginative

interactive guest experience.

“The LEGO Movie 4D A New Adventure” follows a new journey for Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, Benny

and MetalBeard after they receive a mysterious invitation leading them to a new theme park. But

not all is as it seems as the heroes are once again thrust into the middle of an evil secret plot, only

this time, it will be up to the audience to use their Master Builder skills to help save them. Using

elements such as wind, water, smoke and special lighting effects, the larger-than-life experience

takes the film’s main characters, Emmet and Wyldstyle, and their friends on another awesome

adventure. And watch out for the introduction of a totally new character too as Risky Business joins

the cast.

GIGANTIC NEW LEGO® DEATH STAR FOR STAR WARS™ MINILAND MODEL DISPLAY

One of the most impressive LEGO Star Wars™ models created for the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort

was revealed in March when a 500,000 brick LEGO Star Wars™ recreation of Darth Vader’s ultimate

super weapon, The Death Star, became the centre piece of an epic new finale at the hugely

popular LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland Model Display. The new 2.4 metre wide, 3 metre high Death Star

is the focal point for a thrilling, engaging scene depicting the Rebel Alliance attack on the moon

sized space station in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As well as the gargantuan 860kg

spherical Death Star model, the scene also features 16 Alliance ships swooping to destroy it with

sound and light effects triggered by guests.

The new scene provides a thrilling finale to the LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland Model Display which

opened in 2012 and brings to life seven iconic Star Wars™ scenes featuring 1,500 separate models

made from 1.5 million bricks in themed settings with special effects.

PLUS A WHOLE RESORT OF LEGO® THEMED ADVENTURE FROM LEGO FRIENDS TO LEGO CITY

2016 marks twenty years since the LEGOLAND theme park first opened its doors. Back then it was a

little bit smaller with only 25million LEGO bricks; today it boasts more than 80 million LEGO bricks

and hundreds of models across the Resort and with more than 55 rides and attractions there's

4

plenty to keep families with children aged 2 -12 entertained. For LEGO Friends fans there’s the

whole world of Heartlake City to explore, like Mia’s Riding Adventure, an exciting equestrian

adventure ride. For LEGO City fans the famous LEGO City Driving School is bigger and better than

ever or take a boat ride around Coastguard HQ before joining the Fire Academy. Pirate Shores -

featuring Castaway Camp and the Pirate Falls Treasure Quest ride - and the splash-tastic DUPLO®

Valley with Drench Towers and Splash Safari are not to be missed. Plus, journey through the oceans

on Atlantis Submarine Voyage; submerging guests into an aquatic world of awesome sea creatures

in bright yellow submarines. And don’t forget to soar through the air on the Dragon rollercoaster (or

the Dragon's Apprentice for littler ones) and marvel at some of the world's most famous landscapes

in miniature in the Resort's famous Miniland.

AND A 150 ROOM LEGO® THEMED HOTEL FOR A LEGOLAND SHORTBREAK

With so much to do at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort those who opt for a short break can stay at

the unique themed Resort Hotel located right on the edge of the park. Stay in a LEGO Friends,

Pirates, Adventure or Kingdom Room jam packed with fun features and separate sleeping areas for

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Manchester.

SHORT FILM FACTS

"The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” is an all new 4D short film featuring the characters

from the original blockbuster film The LEGO® Movie (from Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow

Pictures and The LEGO® Group) in an entirely new story. Developed in collaboration with

LEGOLAND owner Merlin Entertainments Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the

attraction was created by Los Angeles-based Pure Imagination Studios with input from Phil Lord

and Christopher Miller, the talented writer-directors who brought “The LEGO® Movie™” to life, along

with producer Dan Lin.

• Nearly 200 artists and technicians produced the cutting-edge 3D computer

animation at Pure Imagination Studios in Los Angeles

7

• The unique “built with LEGO®” look is achieved with a virtual building programme

that is then put into 3D software and every element seen on the screen is used in

actual LEGO toy making

• Towering pirate MetalBeard is made of over 216 LEGO® bricks, Unikitty a mere 14,

Wyldstyle 5, and only 4 bricks are used to create each Emmet and Risky Business

• Under the watchful eyes of the writer-director team behind The LEGO® Movie™ the

animation team took approximately 16 months to create the 12 ½ minutes of

animation for The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure”

• Uniting the original headliners, Emmet, Wyldstyle, MetalBeard, Unikitty and Benny

the new short film introduces brand new villain Risky Business

• The team used the original Emmet and Wyldstyle models from "The LEGO® Movie™

to recreate the look of the characters and had access to a wealth of assets from

the original film

• Directed and co-written by Rob Schrab, director of the upcoming "The LEGO®

Movie™ sequel, the 4D short film puts the original heroes at the heart of a new

adventure set in a LEGO theme park

• At the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort an amazing 36 4D effects are programmed to

perfectly synchronise with the action on screen. As the story unfolds guests can

expect to experience water, wind, smoke, snow and exclusively at LEGOLAND

Windsor - fire.

• The movie is showing at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort from 11 March 2016.

LEGO is stamped throughout, from the playful entrance features through to the Bricks Family

Restaurant, Skyline Bar and outdoor lakeside seating area. Stunning play spaces, including a LEGO

Pirates themed splash pool, will inspire little imaginations along with children’s entertainment and

movies available on demand.

HOTEL OPENING TIMES

The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel is open all year round (closed Christmas Day and Boxing

Day).

FROM THE OUTSIDE IN

The hotel is situated on a beautiful landscaped lakeside area, right on the edge of the LEGOLAND

Windsor Resort. The bright, playful exterior is an indicator of what is to come inside with bright

LEGO blues, reds and yellows, flags flying from the roof and a giant clock tower inhabited by a

massive 6 metre smoke-breathing LEGO dragon who welcomes guests outside the main entrance.

Once inside guests will be amazed by another dramatic LEGO model - a remarkable floor to ceiling

rotating LEGO toy box. Exploding out of the base are all sorts of LEGO models from footballs to

emergency vehicles. At child’s level, sensors allow smaller guests to activate noises. At the top of

the mobile giant models reflecting key attractions on the park are suspended and include a yellow

submarine (Atlantis Submarine Voyage) and flying pirate ship (The Jolly Rocker). Watch out too for

the astonishing reception area where you’ll be mesmerised by a wall made entirely of over 6,000

tiny LEGO Minifigures.

13

SWEET LEGO DREAMS

LEGO themed lifts and corridors lead you to the bedrooms, where the iconic theming really kicks in

– from the wallpaper to the carpets, even the door numbers and Do Not Disturb signs. On entering

the room, a special code can be found hidden in the carpets and room features that will open a

safe containing a free LEGO gift. Whether you choose a LEGO Friends, Pirates, Kingdom or

Adventure bedroom there are surprises in every corner – from a monkey guarding the treasure

chest to themed LEGO wallpaper. The fun doesn’t stop where mum and dad sleep either, they’ll be

sleeping in their own themed bed surrounded by LEGO surprises - and kids have their own

separate sleeping area where they can play or watch TV and dream of exploring the park.

After time in the park, the LEGO Pirates themed splash pool will inspire little imaginations with its

impressive wall mural depicting a Caribbean beach scene and LEGO pirate ship. Watch out for the

overflowing buckets of water overhead, water slides and the chance to get mum and dad wet with

the shooting water cannons.

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

Even in the restaurant the fun continues, as 29 child-sized LEGO model chefs have gone mad and

taken over dinner time. Spot one trapped in a giant jelly; see another caught up in the exploding

spaghetti machine and look through the wall to spy on the mayhem in the kitchen itself. High

quality, child friendly and tasty food is on offer and the kids can help themselves to their own buffet

with simple, fun food – including a Wok Bar, Rotisserie, and every child’s dream – an Ice Cream

machine.

AND WIND DOWN TIME

After dinner parents can head to the beautiful Skyline Bar, complete with a Manhattan type skyline

scene and spot the LEGO Minifigures at work and play while the kids enjoy the magical stage and

play area where they can climb a castle turret - complete with LEGO princess and noisy ogre. The

play area transforms into a LEGO City backdrop with a LEGO builder working in his cab while an

escaped LEGO pirate dangles from the ceiling. Or simply sit and play with LEGO bricks and make

new friends in the playrooms. On selected evenings, little ones can bop away with Ollie the Dragon

and friends as they entertain the mini crowd with their interactive disco shows. While in summer

families can enjoy the stunning outdoor lakeside seating area overlooking the Resort.

The whole hotel, with its premium facilities and LEGO inspired twists, is situated in a tranquil,

convenient location right on the edge of the Resort. The colour, playful fun and interactivity of

LEGO fills the hotel from the fun-filled reception entrance to the themed bedrooms, restaurant,

14
