By post: Local Plan Consultation 2014Planning PolicyGuildford Borough CouncilMillmead HouseGuildfordSurrey GU2 5BB

Who can respond?

• All residents of Guildford Borough

• Anyone who works in the Borough

• Parish Councils, Resident Associations, Businesses, Schools, Hospitals, Developers - (anyone with a vested interest in Guildford)

General grounds for objection

• 652 homes per year is far too high –numbers must be significantly reduced (2003-2011 was 322 per annum which fulfilled GBCs need)

• Green belt land should be protected –Brownfield first!

• 16 villages should not be removed from the green belt, (Fairlands, Wood Street, Jacobs Well)

General grounds for objection

• Too much is being asked of Worplesdon. Housing stock would increase by an astonishing 71%

• Proposed Secondary School is poorly situated, next to Whitmoor Common SPA, dangerous road layout.

• Broad Street, Backside, Stringers Commons should not be made SANGs –already natural public green space.

General grounds for objection

• Russell Place Farm, Wood Street should remain much needed agricultural land and not SANG.

• Blackwell Farm site would create a major flood risk to areas of Worplesdon Parish, as well as traffic congestion.

Infrastructure objections

• Flooding – increased risk

• Sewage – already very near capacity, sewage overflowing

• Major traffic congestion – A322/A323

• Schools – lack of primary school places

Infrastructure Objections

• Doctors – at full capacity

• Hospital – can existing hospitals cope with demands of increased population – NHS budget cuts

• Policing – major cuts in budget = fewer officers/increase in crime rate

Liddington Hall objections• Liddington Hall/Keens Lane sites are a

vital wildlife corridor between Whitmoor and Broad Street Commons.

• Cyanide contamination!

• Liddington Hall site previously identified as “fairly good green belt”. Why has this changed?

• Creating urban sprawl – this should be prevented

Fairlands objections• Fairlands should be truly safeguarded and

removed from the Local Plan

• Character of Fairlands would be destroyed with new development being out of place and 519 homes almost doubling in size

• Flooding

• Keep Fairlands in the green belt

• Urban sprawl must be prevented

How to write your objection?

• Keep it as precise as possible ensuring your objections are clear.

• Look out for one of our meetings at Fairlands Café if you would like help

• More information will be provided on our website to assist you www.fairlands.org.uk

CONSULTATION DEADLINE

5pm 22 SEPTEMBER

Spread the word!Tell your family, friends, neighbours –encourage them to respond

Let family and friends who work in the Borough know that they too can have their say

Reach out to elderly neighbours:-

help them to write if you can / let us know

FinallyThis is our last real opportunity to have our say before this draft plan is finalised and sent to the Inspectorate for approval.

It is of vital importance that we all write or we will have “a self-inflicted wound that not even time will heal” (Laurie Lee)

Help save our green belt - once it’s gone it’s gone forever.
