Devotion Thought

When you show compassion for someone you show empathy. God has compassion on us. God has shown compassion to us through sending Jesus to die on a cross. Because of this we continue to experience grace in our lives. As an expression of His love, we can continue to show compassion to others.

How can we put compassion into practice? Do you have a friend going through a tough time? Let them know you care and that you will listen to them. No judgment or advice needs to be given. We often say we are too busy or we don’t have time today or we’ll do it next week. Don’t wait. The time to show compassion is now.

This is what the Lord says: Do what is right and true. Be kind and merciful to each other.

Zechariah 7:9

If not you, then who?

A great start to 2020It has been a fantastic start to the 2020 school year at LORDS.

Our new Design Laboratory is already a firm favourite with students and staff alike and we look forward to many exciting learning adventures taking place in this space.

As we come to the end of Week 2, already so much great learning is taking place alongside structured programs and of course exploration of this year's theme 'If Not You Then Who?' which is a call to action for all of our community.

As is LORDS tradition, this week started with our annual Opening Worship Service which is an opportunity for our community to welcome new staff along with celebrating the appointment of whole School and Junior School Captains and Vice Captains.

Our first ever double class Year 12 cohort was also presented with their Senior Badges at the service. The moving from one Year 12 class to two in 2020 spearheads the strong growth in student numbers with our current population from kindy to Year 12 standing at more than 700 students.

Welcome to the LORDS Instrumental Music ProgramThe Instrumental Music Program is a co-curricular program for all students, external to the music curriculum delivered in the classroom. We believe music enhances the process of learning. Therefore, all students are encouraged to explore and develop their musical ability through the various Instrumental Music opportunities.

LessonsAll students at LORDS are provided the opportunity to explore and develop their musical ability through Individual or Group Music Lessons with a qualified and experienced Music Tutor.

The Individual or Group Music Lessons meet students’ individual musical abilities and needs while motivating them to explore and recognise a variety of musical literature. Tuition fees apply.

To register your interest for instrumental lessons, go to https://lords.mymusicstaff.com/Login and select “Sign-Up”. Complete your details and the relevant tutor will contact you to discuss the program and payment details. The link is also available on the LORDS parent lounge under School Links>General Links>Instrumental Music.

Lessons take place during school hours with lesson times published through an online calendar available to students and parents. At the conclusion of each semester, a report will be provided on each student’s progress, including an assessment of performance musicality, technique, knowledge and understanding and behaviour.

We offer Individual or Group Music Lessons in the following:• Voice• Piano• Drumkit• Strings – Violin, Viola or Cello• Guitar• Bass Guitar• Ukulele• Woodwind• Brass

On The Road To RecoveryWednesday's Wear Red and Yellow Day in support of those affected by the recent bush fires has been a great success with more than $1200 raised at LORDS.

We were especially proud to be involved in this activity as it was an initiative created by a couple of our own LORDS families with more than 900 schools committing to recognizing and supporting the recovery efforts in this way on February 5.

We continue to pray for all the victims of this disaster and for the challenges that lie ahead.
