“With God’s help, I have kept my promise and tried to build up your faith through humble service. That is all that I promised when I began this great work. From all who think I have said too little or too much, I beg pardon and from those who think I did too much or not enough, I ask forgiveness. But those who think I have done just right, do not praise or thank me, but rather, join me in thanking God.” These are the words of St. Augustine in his book “The City of God.” Words that have remained with me over this year, words that I think of today as I leave.

We are shaped by all those who influence our lives and share our story. Today I can’t but help think of these people. I think of my family – specifically my mother and father, who instilled in me a deep, abiding love of God. Their love and support planted, nourished, and sustained my priestly vocation. Their example of sacrifice inspires me. How beautiful is the vocation of the married life. Dear parents and grandparents – plant, nourish and sustain your children’s vocation especially the vocation we are called to – the vocation to holiness.

I think of the many priests who have been part of my life and who modeled what this vocation entails. I think of their gracious hospitality who from a very young age helped me to experience priestly fraternity, an experience that young men can have here in this parish. I remember with great fondness the late Michael J. Walsh, who early on showed me what priesthood is all about and have been honored to use his chalice for the celebration of the Eucharist. In all our lives we have that priest who has been an example of what priesthood is all about. The person I am thinking of Fr. Slawomir, whom I thank for his fraternal care and support during the three years I served as Pastor.

How fortunate I am to have developed a most intimate relationship with you, the parishioners of St. Rose of Lima. You have certainly helped in my continued formation to the priesthood, and you have been my role models and dearest friends. Yes, we can learn so much from each other.

As I stand here before you after three years as your Pastor, I am confident and humbled that God has chosen me to serve Him as an ordained priest. Let us remember each other in prayer. May Mary, under the title of Our Lady Help of Christians, protect us and guide us to her Son, Our Lord Jesus.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Important information from

Father Kuroly and Mrs. Murphy:

Dear Parents,

Thank you all so much for your support of our Religious Education program. You, as parents, are the primary teachers of your children. We are here to help you pass our Catholic faith and traditions on to your children. With that in mind, it is very important that children attend Religious Education every year, not just the years to receive sacraments. We are not a Sacramental Prep program. There are other aspects of our faith besides preparing for the Sacraments. Children are taught about the life of Jesus, His miracles, and the Liturgical Year of the Church, among other topics. These are all important.

Early Registration is going on now. We need to prepare for September by ordering books and

making sure we have enough catechists. The fees for registration

from now until July 31 are $45 per child, $100 for 3 or more students per family.

In August the fee increases to $50 and $125 for 3 or more.

In September that will increase to $60 and $175 for three or more children

These are all listed in your Parent Handbook. Tuition is due at the time of registration.

We do not accept credit cards.

Education Every Year?

Children must be in eighth grade/13 years old to receive Confirmation. Over the course of the years,

they will learn about the Old Testament, Jesus’ time on earth and His miracles, and the Beatitudes

to name a few. Religious Education is not just about preparing for sacraments. It is learning how to live our faith. That is why it is so important that

the children attend every year.

Please don't forget to re-register. Classes begin on

Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 9:15am. See the Registration Information

of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty.

You supported the holy family of Nazareth with

the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you.

You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know

you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness.

But amid the worries of material life, your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy

through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother.
