The Newsletter of the Betania Foundation

On April 9, 2018, the first meeting to consolidate the Missionaries of Reconciliation took place in Merchantville, New Jersey, United States, with Father Timothy Byerley.

The Missionaries of Reconciliation, is a group of women who wish to surrender their lives to the Lord under the charisms of hope, humility, joy and balance. Their desire is to evangelize in order to spread reconciliation, with the help of Our Lady Reconciler, as well as to have a life of prayer for the conversion of mankind, and to be an example of fraternal unity.

On April 19, Holy Mass was celebrated in thanksgiving for the 39th and 37th anniversaries of the Betania Foundation and the Betania Choir, respectively. Father Juan Carlos Silva presided over the Eucharistic celebration. During his homily, he said: “The Betania Foundation is an intervention of the Lord’s mercy for this generation, manifesting itself as a platform of salvation, consolation and safe refuge.”

On April 19, 1979, the Servant of God Maria Esperanza Bianchini constituted the Betania Foundation with the objective of ensuring a closer relationship of man with man and of man with God. Two years later, in 1981, the Servant of God encouraged her daughter, Maria Auxiliadora to found the Betania Choir, with the goal of evangelizing by means of their music.

42nd Anniversary of Our Lady of Betania

The celebration of the 42nd anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Betania took place on Sunday, April 22, 2018. This year her feast on March 25 had coincided with Palm Sunday, thus it was postponed.

Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Los Teques, Bishop Freddy Fuenmayor; accompanied by the Rector of the sanctuary, Father Jhonfer Camacho and the Vice-Postulator of the cause of beatification of the Servant of God Maria Esperanza Bianchini, Father Timothy Byerley, among other priests. The Betania Choir participated with its joyous melodies.

Father Byerley pondered upon the importance of this day, pointing out that it was possible for humanity to be reconciled once it accepted the Gospel and Jesus as our Savior, and put into effect the message of reconciliation and brotherly unity.

Reflections of the Servant of God Maria Esperanza BianchiniDear Friends of Betania,

Our Lord and his Blessed Mother Reconciler of All Peoples have endowed us with the grace of the initiation of the Missionaries of Reconciliation, a religious congregation in which the Missionaries of Reconciliation offer themselves to Christ for the reconciliation of the human family, after the example of their Foundress, the Servant of God Maria Esperanza. They desire, pray, witness and labor for the fraternal unity that Christ himself aspired.

Those single women who desire to join the Missionaries of Reconciliation and live religious life should contact me for further information.

This year the 42nd anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Betania took place on Palm Sunday, so the feast was postponed to Sunday, April 22, 2018. Once again I traveled to Venezuela to concelebrate such an important Feast with Bishop Freddy Fuenmayor and other fellow priests at the Sanctuary of Betania. In an interview with the media I explained: Maria Esperanza was the person that the Virgin called to proclaim and announce her message of reconciliation. When the world, Venezuela or anyone is provided with the opportunity to study the life of Maria Esperanza, they will discover a new way to follow the Gospel and practice the virtues of the Gospel.

Fr. Tim ByerleyVicepostulador

Merciful Father, You blessed Maria Esperanza with an abundance of spiritual gifts for the consolation of your people. She served You aswife, mother, and missionary to promote the unity of the family and the reconciliation of all peoples. You enabled her to be the central figure in the manifestations of the Virgin Mary, under the title of Reconciler of all Peoples and Nations, in Betania. Grant us the grace to follow her example of humility, hope, and unconditional love. Through the intercession of your servant, Maria Esperanza, we pray for the healing and reconciliation of our families, and for the fraternal unity of the entire human family. Especially, we beseech You to grant us the favors we now request (mention your intentions here) through the merits and prayers of your servant. Likewise, we humbly implore that she be inscribed in the Church’s catalogue of saints, as a universal model of the beatitudes. We pray all this according to your holy will, cherished by your servant until the end, through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.

With the ecclesiastical approval of Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski of Metuchen, New Jersey, December 4, 2009

Mary with humility and simplicity lets herself be seen everywhere, with the tenderness of a Mother who is calling all her children to conversion, especially those she wants to follow her, to follow her Son Jesus, the young men called to priesthood, the young girls called to serve as religious.

The Lord lives among us. He touches us and comes to save us. He comes for us so we can again take shelter in his Heart. He makes use of his priests, his ministers, to give us his nourishment, his mystical Body. This is the greatest thing regarding a priest, this is the mission of a priest, to gather us and teach us the virtues of faith, hope, and charity.

We must give all religious communities warmth and love, so they may all feel united to their people, our people, the People of God.

Spiritual Maxims of the Servant of God Maria Esperanza Bianchini

PRAYER FOR THE BEATIFICATION OF MARIA ESPERANZA

Meeting with Priests and Religious Nuns, and Private MeetingThe Varone Family’s Residence, San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina

June 16th, 2000

SERVANT OF GOD MARIA ESPERANZA

Christ lives among us. We do not see Him, but we do feel Him. He calls us. Sometimes He uses his priests to call our attention, for they are the ones who have studied and left the world, life, they left everything behind in order to consecrate themselves to the Lord, together with the religious nuns who have left everything behind too... they can give us advice.

I would say that we are here for them to teach us, the beloved ones of the Lord: the priests, the religious nuns. It is the prime basis of a human being to seek consolation, hope, a dream and hope in them, because when you are busy, suffering, grieving, or having a breakdown you go to the Church, we go to the closest ones we have who are the priests, the religious nuns in order to tell them about our things, because they are the ones who absolve us from our sins, and the nuns are our friends. We must tell them about our sorrows or the anguish that we have.

So, boys, young ones, whenever you are grieving look for a priest; girls, young girls, look for a nun, because in them we will find a hand that will guide us, defend us, comfort us to move on, driving us to the moral values of today’s men, of today’s women.

COMMUNITIES OF BETANIA AND THE CHURCH

Betania X and the Ordination to the

Priesthood of Two of Its Members

Mother Carmen Rendiles Was Raised to the Altars

Many members of Betania X were blessed to witness the ordination to the priesthood of two of its members, Fr. Joshua Nevitt and Fr. Anthony Infanti on June 16, 2018. The ordination took place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden, New Jersey. Following the ordinations, a small reception took place where we had the opportunity to receive a blessing from both fathers. The following day, on Sunday, June 17th many had the privilege of attending one or both of their first Masses. Receptions followed each Mass also. On Thursday, June 20th, Betania X had a separate celebration for all of our members to congratulate them.

Since their ordination, we have had the great blessing of having Fr. Nevitt and Fr. Infanti attend several of our meetings, in which they offered to have confessions available for all of us.

Our Lord and Our Lady have truly blessed our group to witness these ordinations and to have had the opportunity, all of these years, to pray for these two men through their journey to priesthood. We have numerous other seminarians that attend our group and we ask that our Betania family always keep them in prayer, so that we may witness all of them be ordained one day in the future.

God Bless,Carmela Valeno

On Saturday, June 16th, 2018 Carmen Elena Rendiles Martinez was declared blessed in Caracas, Venezuela. The ceremony was initiated by His Excellency Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, who asked God and Mother Carmen Rendiles to help overcome in peace the problems of the country and to achieve the beatification of Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez.

The Beatification Mass was held at the University Stadium in Caracas and was presided over by the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Angelo Amato, who said on behalf of Pope Francis: “We decree that the Venerable Servant of God, Maria del Monte Carmelo Virgen, who was called Carmen Elena Rendiles Martinez in the world, foundress of the Sisters Servants of Jesus, who fully following God’s will lived with exemplary fidelity the religious consecration, serving the members of her community and priests, from now on will be given the title of ‘blessed’.”

For the members of the Betania Foundation and the Betania Choir, the beatification of Mother Carmen Rendiles is a motive of great joy, because the choir has accompanied the Servants of Jesus in the Chapel of the Bethlehem School, on several Eucharistic celebrations.
