A Message From Mr Lainson
In Hebrews 11:24 – 28 we read:
“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of
Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God
rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the
sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was
looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s
anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. By faith he kept
the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the
firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.”
Moses was a great man of faith who valued his relationship with God more
highly than the pleasures and attractions of this world. He surrendered the
treasures of this world in order to join his people on their journey from
slavery, he endured opposition and he relied and persuaded others to trust in
the sacrificial lamb. Moses longed for and looked forward to a Messiah
prefigured in the symbols of the Passover. We can know and trust in the
perfect, once for all, sacrificial lamb of Christ. But do we regard suffering
disgrace for the sake of Christ of greater value than the treasures of 21st
century Australia?
Year 12 HSC Examinations
Please continue to pray for our Year 12 students as they study and sit for the
HSC examinations this week. The exams are located in D14, just off the car
park near the staff toilets, for most of the remaining examination period.
Please respect exam signs if you see them up and about the school and be
conscious of the noise around exam rooms.

Little Dresses for Africa Organisation
which seeks to provide relief to children of Africa.
Simple dresses are made out of pillow
cases, and distributed through
orphanages, churches and schools to
plant in the hearts of the little girls that
they are worthy and valued.
Their mission is to change lives one little
dress at a time.
Could you please donate one or two
pillowcases (in new condition) to help with this cause?
Please send your donations to Mrs
Whitelock via the office over the next
week.
KIDS CLOTHES SWAP FUNDRAISER
Saturday Nov 15th – 2pm
Illawarra Christian School - Hall
(same day/time as make-up school working bee)
So I hear you ask, “What is involved in a Kids Clothes swap event”?
A clothes swap is a fun, cost saving event, where for a small entry fee of $10
you can update your children’s wardrobe just by bringing along any clothes, shoes or accessories your child no longer needs (that are still in good condi-
tion), and swap them with something else – free .
It is a simple concept that:
1. Saves you money in purchasing new clothes for your kids, that they just
grow out of too quickly anyway.
2. Raises money for the school, to be put back into great school projects.
3. Donates back to specific areas of need within our Illawarra community with the left over items.
4. Is great for the environment by preventing more landfill, and reducing the
demand on water, energy and raw materials.
How it works: Clean out your kids’ wardrobes, bring along any clothes you no longer require (all of good quality, that you would be happy to see on
another child), display on tables marked with appropriate clothing size, and once the event is declared officially open you go and find new items to take
home.
Bring clothes sized 000 – Yr 12 boys and girls.
Come along and see how many lives some old clothes and $10 can touch and
benefit. Bring your family, friends and neighbours, and see what its like to live in community with each other.
It is simple, it is fun, it is cost saving and it is not to be missed!
