OUR VISION
Living up to our heritage of reaching each new generation for Christ.
OUR MISSION
To Put Jesus F.I.R.S.T. In Our Lives, Our Church, and Our Community.
A Note From Pastor Stephanie
“Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful
or proud or rude. It does not
demand its own way. It is not
irritable, and it keeps no record
of being wronged. It does not
rejoice about injustice but
rejoices whenever the truth
wins out. Love never gives up,
never loses faith, is always
hopeful, and endures through
every circumstance. Prophecy
and speaking in unknown
languages and special
knowledge will become useless.
But love will last forever.” 1st
Corinthians 13:4-8 NLT.
This passage of Scripture
is one of my favorites. It is also
one of the hardest Scriptures to
live into. I think that the one
who comes close would be a
mother. I know not everyone
has had the blessing of having a
mother that loved them
unconditionally. For those of
us who have, we know that
mom would have made sure all
had food before she would sit
down to eat. We know that the
new clothes would be bought
for the children before buying
anything for herself. And a
mom who lives this Scripture
would always believe the best
of her child/children before
anyone else would. This
Mother’s Day thank God for
your mother and if there are
things you need to forgive her
for it will help you to live a life
of unconditional love toward
others.
This passage is how we
are to treat one another. I do not think this is a suggestion.
As a Christian, the love of God
is shed abroad in our hearts in
Christ Jesus. If Jesus lives in
us then this is how we are to be.
What a change we can make in our world if we love
unconditionally.
.
Blessings and love,
Pastor Stephanie and Jack

Bible Studies
Jennifer Rothschild’s “Hosea, Unfailing Love
Changes Everything” with Robyn Robbins
This Bible Study began on April 10th at 9am. It’s the
love story of Hosea and his wandering wife Gomer.
It’s the story of God’s love for His wayward people
Israel. Ultimately, though, it is the story of God’s
unfailing love for you and me. Like Israel and Gomer,
we are prone to wander from His love. God loves us
too much to let us go though. He goes to
extraordinary lengths to bring us back to Him. I can’t
wait for you to experience that kind of love!
His unfailing love really does change everything!
Men’s Bible Study “Gospel of John”
This great Men’s Bible Study is on
Wednesday evenings at 6pm with Dave
Oltmans. You can start any week. Come
& learn more about John together.
Beth Moore’s “When Godly People Do Ungodly
Things” with Sue Wilson
This Bible Study began on April 19th at 6pm. Our
purpose through this study is to understand how the
people described in 2nd Corinthians 11:2-3 as being
wholeheartedly sincerely and truly devoted to Christ
can be beguiled by Satan and have their minds
corrupted and seduced. This study gives us a better
understanding of how a Godly person can fall in such a
deep pit of sin. It also teaches us how to reach out our
hands and help them get up. I believe everyone who
participates in the study will have a better
understanding of the way Satan deceives us all.
There will be other Bible Studies & Small Groups available.
Emails will go out with details soon.

Love In Action International Ministries spreads
the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of
compassion in our hometown of Dothan, Ala.,
inner cities throughout the US, and other parts
of the world. Jesus tells us in Matthew 25:35-
40 that we are to take care of the neediest
among us. In verse 40 He says, "I assure you:
Whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of Mine, you did for Me."
They also believe in carrying out the Great
Commission Jesus gives all of His followers in
Matthew 28:19-20. Therefore, we go to the
nations reaching the lost and unreached peo-
ple with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and make
disciples.

Labors of Love
Hello, dear souls. I pray that we all feel blessed, regardless of life’s challenges. In comparison to many other countries and the things the citizens endure, we are blessed in even greater measure.
This piece is about recognizing labors of love poured out over our beloved church. The role of the trustees is to care for God’s property with the greatest degree of excellence possible. God’s property in this case in-volves the church building, its contents, its grounds, its equipment, and any vehicles such as the bus. It in-cludes the parsonage, its contents, and its grounds (the grounds graciously being cared for by a family mem-ber). “Contents” includes everything, just like your home or apartment…heat & air, roof, plumbing, electrical, paint, carpet, kitchen equipment, etc. We try hard to do what we can to minimize costs, and hire out only those tasks that are beyond us.
People come up to me, and often, to compliment how things are looking. In every case, I ask them to give the same mention to the folks who had a role in whatever was being complimented; therefore, I let them know who was involved.
Total numbers of people could be mentioned, such as about 30. Or names could be listed. Today’s choice is to list the initials of people who have turned our outdoor property into what you see today. We strive for a “campus-like” appearance, knowing that this is not only important to the congregation, but also important for visitors and others who ride by and make that first impression.
Outdoor helpers over the past 3 years or so, and some have done indoor stuff: BB, TB, SB, AB, FC, TC, JC, JC, ED, EF, FG, AH, BH, LH, CJ, MK, BK, DK & DK [2 younguns], SM, GM, DO, PP, KP, CR, DS, JW, PW, RW. And as a group, A.R.M.E.D. and/or The Men’s Club plays a role. [One always hopes that nobody in a list was over-looked.]
Sure, there is a core group of regulars in the list, but without the efforts of all of the above, the load would be greater. One hour of service means that is one hour less to be absorbed by others. Some like to mow on tractor or ZTR. Some don’t mind weed eating, edging, and push mowing. Some like to plant. Some like to tend to the plants. Some like to spray Roundup. Our motto is “Always a challenge, but never a burden.”
We have been blessed to have volunteers come forward. And we don’t believe that if you help your church by doing any of the things that we do, that you are “locked in forever”. A little here, a little there is just fine with us. We are always in need of others who are interested in what we do and the look we produce. Just call Jonathan at 334-618-3398. Also, many good ideas for new or different things have come from you.
I do believe that anybody wishing to volunteer should first think of assisting others in the church who do the many important things other than what the trustees are charged with, such as visiting the homebound, VBS, Peanut Festival, Cheerful Hearts, Wednesday night suppers, etc.
Blessings to all, from Jonathan Miskell.

District UMC News
Dear Dothan district family,
Today as I got ready for work I was thinking a lot about our district, the churches and people -
especially the people. I have to tell you the past couple of weeks have been difficult. There have been
those who are unhappy about events in our denomination and are watching carefully to make sure things
go a certain way. There have been tough decisions that have been made for the good of the local church
and it has angered and hurt individuals. There have been misunderstandings, hurt feelings and angry
words. All in the day of ministry a day that is painful for many of us and often causes lack of
sleep. Throughout it all God has been present loving each of us.
As I thought about these events and prayed for the day that lay ahead I remembered an event in
my younger days. When I was in the sixth grade one of my friends brought her basketball to school and
everyday at recess we chose up teams and played. I loved it. Sometimes my friend, the owner of the
basketball, would be on the losing team. She would get angry and when she got her hands on the ball
she would stop the game. She would then inform us that we could either choose our teams over or she
would take her ball away and no one would play. I believe you can imagine our frustrations but since we
loved playing we would stop and choose teams over again.
We have so many things going on in our district, our conference and the general church and we
know that we aren’t always going to be happy with the outcome. In fact, we may mourn the
outcome. But here is the thing, we are all on the same team so to take our ball and go home is not an
option. I believe that is a good thing. I believe that no matter what the outcome we move forward loving
each other and to do that we will need to keep the lines of communication open. Let me remind you that
my door is always open and my cell phone is 251-253-4661 and you are welcome to call me anytime. I
also believe that we need to talk to each other as well, especially those who have different views,
interpretations or understandings. We are brothers and sisters in Christ first and then brothers and
sisters in the United Methodist Church. Let us stand together to serve our churches, our district, our
conference and the world that we might continue to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation
of the world.
I am grateful for each of you.
Love,
Sara
