Names, whether they belong to people, music groups or companies, have the power to communicate something significant. Your name means something for your identity. It is something you own. Your name signifies who you are, even if you share your name with others. The same idea can be applied to our Lord, Jesus. In the Holy Trinity, Jesus is the only person with a proper name. We have plenty of de-scriptions of Jesus – Christ, Messiah, Lord, Emmanuel, Savior, but His name is Jesus. Just to know his name is a great blessing. Plus, there is great power in the name of Jesus. We see this in the Gospel for this weekend. In order to eliminate division among his followers, Jesus shows how his name should unite them even if other things come between them. He tells his disciples, “There is no one who per-forms a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.” How desperately does our God want unity and harmony among his children all in the name of His son, Jesus? Therefore, let us always remember Jesus’ name as we speak to family members and friends who have different ideas than our own. Let his Holy Name unite us. May every prayer and desire of our heart begin and end in the name of Jesus Christ. In Christ, Fr. Timothy Seavey

La Hoja del Pastor: Los nombres, ya sea que pertenezcan a personas, grupos de música o negocios, tienen el poder de comunicar algo significativo. Tu nombre significa algo para tu identidad. Es algo que tienes. Su nombre significa quién es usted, incluso si comparte su nombre con otros. La misma idea se puede aplicar a nuestro Señor, Jesús. En la Santísima Trinidad, Jesús es la única persona con un nombre propio. Te-nemos muchas descripciones de Jesús: Cristo, Mesías, Señor, Emmanuel, Salvador, pero su nombre es Jesús. Solo saber su nombre es una gran bendición. Además, hay un gran poder en el nombre de Jesús. Vemos esto en el Evangelio de este fin de semana. Con el fin de eliminar la división entre sus seguidores, Jesús muestra cómo su nombre debe unirlos, incluso si otras cosas se interponen entre ellos. Él les dice a sus discípulos: "No hay ninguno que haga milagros en mi nombre, que luego sea capaz de hablar mal de mí.". Cuán desesperadamente quiere nuestro Dios la unidad y la armonía en-tre sus hijos, todo en nombre de su hijo, Jesús! Por lo tanto, recordemos siempre el nombre de Jesús mientras hablamos con familiares y amigos que tienen ideas diferentes a las nuestras. Deja que su Santo Nombre nos una. Being a registered parishioner makes things much easier when it is time for infant baptism, school registration, weddings, quinceaneras, and when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor. We are often asked to provide affidavits for baptismal and confirmation sponsors. We can only do this if a person is a registered and active member in our parish.
