FBLA QUALIFIES FOR NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Written By Matt Payne

The FBLA club at Verona Area High School has been very busy over the last couple

weeks! On April 9th and 10th, ten students traveled to La Crosse, WI to compete in the FBLA State Leadership Conference. Some of these students competed in a wide variety of events all across the business spectrum along with hundreds of other students from across the state of Wisconsin. Two students, Kari Becker and Nik Christoffel, attended the Legacy Academy, a leadership opportunity with LaCrosse area business representatives. Eight of those competing advanced to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, MD! Those eight students included Julia Pletta in Emerging Business Issues, Stephen Lund, Jonah Berry, and Vivek Swaminath in Hospitality Management, Josh Ratze and Andy Knuppel in Marketing, Jamison Huseth in Securities and Investments, and Stephen Van Horne in Organizational Leadership. In only our second year with the club at VAHS, we have had a very successful year and we can’t wait to see what these eight students can do at the NLC in June! Good luck! St udent Council New s This newsletter is for our seniors on the Executive Board, as they have contributed a lot from their leadership and years of being on the council.

To start, Ana has done a great job as President of the council this year. She is always trying to think about what is best for the council, as well as the people in it. She has led the council with maturity as well as a positive and fun attitude. Ana is a charismatic and kind person, and is always trying to do better. She started as the New Student Coordinator, and exhibited her ability to lead through that position last year. This ability translated over well into the presidential position, and we cannot thank her enough for all if her contributions to the council.

One of our Vice Presidents this year was Mariana. She assisted Ana and the rest of the Executive Board often and always put others first. She has a bright future and she will be attending Cornell University this fall to study nutritional sciences. Last year, Mariana was Communications Director, and was always on track with getting information out to the community and the council. She has shown great responsibility and has been a great vice president. We cannot wait to see her positive impact on the world and we appreciate all of her contributions to the council.

Another one of our Vice Presidents this year was Hilda. Hilda has a great personality and always puts her best foot forward. She shines a positive light on everything, and is kind to everyone, whether they are in the council or not. Hilda held the position of Volunteer Coordinator last year and was very on top of her work. She provided many opportunities for the council and showed that work ethic in her role this year. The council members are extremely excited to see her do great things, but she (along with all the other seniors) will be missed very much.

Our Social Change Coordinator this year was Juan. Juan is truly one of the most charismatic and outgoing people to live on this planet, and is always accepting and nice towards new people he meets. He is passionate about everything he does and helped highlight social issues in society this year. Juan is part of many other clubs, but he still found a way to put in a lot of effort to make this years council better. He will be attending Carleton College in the fall to study political science, and hopes on going to law school. He will have a great impact on any community he is in and the council is excited to see the social change he makes.

Last but surely not least is Fernanda, and she was the Volunteer Coordinator this year. Like Juan, she is very charismatic and outgoing. She helped us find regular volunteer opportunities this year and gave us some resources for next year as well. This is her first year on the Executive Board but she has made a lasting impact on the council. She has an amazingly positive personality and will do amazing things following high school. We want to thank her for her bright and positive impact she has on the Executive Board and the Council.
