The Province’s role in housing can be summed up as follows:
To provide safe, accessible affordable housing for those who cannot afford it or access it in the market; and
To create an environment that encourages the construction of all housing types across the province.
A Strong Foundation - The Housing Strategy for Saskatchewan is an eight-year plan that is built on community, industry, and government partnerships.
The Strategy, which leverages partnerships, is producing results.
In 2012, total housing starts in Saskatchewan reached 9,968 – more starts in one year than in any year since the 1970s.

Provides a capital loan of $40,000 per unit to permit sponsors to reduce rents, making them affordable for low- to moderate-income tenants.

Partnerships leverage financial and human resources.
