Dick stood over his tee shoton the 450 yard 18th hole forwhat seemed an eternity. He waggled, looked up,looked down, waggled again, but didn’t start his backswing. Finally his exasperatedpartner asked, ‘What the hell

is taking so long?’ ‘My wife is watching me fromthe clubhouse balcony,’ Dick explained. ‘I want tomake a perfect shot.’His companion said, ‘You don’t have a chance inhell of hitting her from here’.

Flying FezOur second month brings back the exitingmoments of our officer installations Januarythe second, starting as early as 1:00 PM wehad two Shriner limousines, a Ford One TonVan driven by yours truly and a GMC drivenby Del Tope, picking up our Ladies and Noblesbringing them to the Masonic center on 5 THStreet. The first main event took place thatday starting at 3 PM. Our new officers for theyear 2016 took place on this day where our new Ill .Potentate ArtWeingarten, were sworn in to serve Syrian Shrine. Later that evening, after a great dinner, our Unit Directors were sworn in. May God’sSpeed be with our new leaders? Looking further into our leadership isthe heart of our parades, the Parade Marshall Randall Proctor and hisAssistant “Barrels”. You all know these two, so be prepared for onebusy parade season and I do look forward to it. All those new officersdo need our support and help. The parade season is one of my favoritetime of year but it does have its down side, time spent preparing for itand taking the time to be a part of it . This is the best form ofadvertisement for Syrian that we can present to the world especiallywhen close to home. This brings me to a Shriner story when the wifehit him with a frying pan on the head. “What was that for”? The manasked. “That was for the piece of paper I found in your pants pocketwith the name Jenny” the wife answered. “When I was at the raceslast week, Jenny was the name of a horse I bet on” The wife apologizedand went back to her housework. Three days later the man waswatching TV when his wife bashed him on the head with an evenbigger frying pan, knocking him unconscious. Upon re-gainingconsciousness the man asked why she had hit him again. Wife replied“Your horse phoned”! Essalamu Aleikum. Samuel Mattar

He replied, “I’mgoing to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on thehuman body, as well as smoking and staying out late.” The officerasked, “Really? Who’s giving that lecture at this time of night?”The Noble replied, “That would be my wife.” Then the one aboutthe bookseller conducting a market survey asked a Noble’s wife –“Which book has helped you most in your life?” She replied “Myhusband’s check book.” My friends live life…laugh often…love much, and keep on smiling.Dick Manifold

Great things happen when unitsand clubs recruit, active membership rises. The best way to enjoy your membership in the Shriners fraternity is toparticipate, and a great way to participate is to join a club or unit. Look for our upcoming rush party’s in 2016 Why weare Shriners !!!!!! Hunter Woodhal He plays basketball, football and soccer; he wrestles; he runs track, snow skis, swims and roller blades, all with two prosthetic legs. Hunter Woodhall, 13, was born with fibular hemihelix of the leftleg. The condition is a shortening or absence of one of the two bones in the calf, which may require amputation orbone-lengthening procedures to correct. In addition, his right ankle was fused. The Woodhalls had a difficult timefinding information about Hunter’s conditions. After exploring options that offered no real hope, the Woodhalls contactedShriners Hospitals for Children. After consulting with a team of experts at the Tampa, Fla., facility, the Woodhallsproceeded with the amputation of Hunter’s feet. After his surgery – at just 11 months old – Hunter was soon walkingand running around. He hasn’t stopped since. Later, the Woodhalls moved to Syracuse, Utah, where Hunter becamea patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Salt Lake City. Hunter is a straight A student and an accomplishedathlete. The team of experts at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City has always provided options to helpHunter be able to do anything he wants to do, including fitting him with some of the first Flex-Foot Cheetah customfeet that the hospital had ever provided, as well as special liners for wrestling, in addition to his prosthetic legs fordaily use. Sincerely, Bruce Pendleton Membership Chairman (C) 859-445-6829 [email protected]
