A Winning Start to the Seasony Gary JacobsThe Qld Cup side had an impressive start to their
season defeating the Sunshine Coast Eagles 36-14,after the match I contacted their coach Josh Hannay
and got his thoughts on how the team went.
Did the team perform up to your expectations?
My expectations are fairly high, so I don't think the
guys will probably meet them until well in to the year,
it's going to take time for us to hit our straps as a
Football side, but certainly there were signs tonight of
what we're capable of, but I think it'll be some time
before we get to a point where we can do that for 80
minutes and when we do we're going to be a really
hard side to beat.
Which players impressed you the most?
Our full-back Luke Archer was outstanding tonight, positionally he was great, he was dangerous
in attack, he was just very good for us tonight, up front tonight Sam Mataora was probably our
pick of the forwards, they were probably the two picks.
Were there any injuries out of the match?
Unfortunately it does look like our centre Nick Doyle suffered a knee injury, the severity we won't
know until early in the week, I think it could be fairly serious. What areas would you like the team
to improve on for next week?
How did the boys that came up from Canberra go?
Yeah, really well mate, I think the first time that we'd seen those guys and I think that you can tell
they're going to be good players for us, they offer us something different, you've got big Sam up front,
he's a real force in the middle and with Jordan Rapana on the wing, it looks like he's going to be a
pretty good finisher for us. Including Mitch Cronin, they're really clever players, so I think they're
going to be really good for us as the year goes on.

1-17 Sponsors Now On BoardA new season brings new ways to support Souths.
This year, we have introduced the 1-17

that are worn by the players on the field. If the
player you sponsored scores a try, your brand is
then promoted along with the player.
The sponsors were allocated their numbers at the
season launch by a lucky dip, selected at random
by Helen Abrahams and Jackie Trad.
Sponsors are as follows:
