Edward Albert Cooper

1930-2001

Ted Cooper really was a Magician - from a young age he fell in love with the art and set about learning and collecting as much as he could. He also built props including the Zig Zag Lady you’ll see for auction

today as well a Saw the Lady in Half, Floating Table, Cascading Coins and many, many more.

Ted was a very successful businessman and longstanding member of the Launceston Magician’s Club. He did countless shows for charity and for children with disability and illness. He would often set up a

stage in his garage and entertain family and friends – his grandchildren loved his shows as much as he enjoyed doing them and still have very fond memories of Poppy Cooper’s magic shows.

As you can see from his collection, he performed close-up with coins and cards, children’s magic, stage

and parlor as well as mentalism. He was a perfectionist and considered the entire performance - not just the trick - often spending hours getting the music just right.

With Ted’s passing it was difficult for his family to finally make the decision to let go of this collection

into which he had poured so much of himself. This auction is a way of honoring his memory. His magic items will again be used as intended – by magicians everywhere to amaze, astound and entertain.

Auction Guidelines 1. With so many lots, bidding will be fast and furious – we will be selling 60+ lots per hour. 2. Please do your research before the auction as there will be little time for detailed descriptions of items. All items are sold in “as is” condition. We have taken a lot of care to ensure the descriptions and names are accurate but we do not guarantee the usability of any individual items. 3. Please register and receive a bidder number before the auction commences, certainly before bidding. 4. To save time on the day, you can register by email or in person at the shop prior to auction day. 5. Absentee Bids must be made in writing by email prior to the day. Your bids will be placed on your behalf at the next increment. – In other words, assuming your bid is high enough, you will pay enough to secure the item but not necessarily your maximum bid. 6. Email Absentee Bids accepted up until 9am on the day of the auction. If you wish to leave the auction before your lot has come up, submit an Absentee Bid before you leave. These must be submitted at least 50 lots prior to your Absentee Bid lot. 7. Approximately 50 lots have a reserve, all others will be sold to the highest bidder. 8. The highest bidder on reserve lots will have first opportunity to buy at the reserve price after the auction is concluded. 9. Under no circumstances should you remove any items from display – they will be passed to you at the fall of the hammer. 10. Please see Diana and Allana to pay for items – any larger items will then be collected for you. 11. Delivery of larger items can be arranged at a small cost. 12. Absentee purchases can be paid by credit card or Paypal and a 3% charge will be made for this. 13. Absentee purchases will be mailed within 7 days and charged at Australia Post standard mail rates anywhere in the world – bills including postage must be settled in full prior to despatch. 14. Charges will be made in Australian dollars. A currency converter can be found at xe.com 15. Australian residents will be liable for GST at 10% - This will not apply to foreign bids. 16. Viewing on the day will commence at 9am. 17. We suggest you print this catalogue as only a small number will be available on the day. 18. Regular breaks will occur during the day and refreshments and snacks will be available. Sean and Michael

close-up case ever, areas for cards, coins etc and very classy attaché case style. The hinges are not perfect and you may choose to relocate the inner portion (which is removable) into a new case. Either way, this is a nice and very useful case.

389 Manipulators stage table with a variety of stands and attachments including candle and ring holders and a foot switch operated air blower for Kevin James Snowstorm.

390 Zig Zag illusion – red and yellow with nice artistically painted front and easily removable shelf. Works well and looks great. Upsides: Solid, good castors, good blades which are easy to locate. The sliding portion works very well and does not hook or jam. Complete with travelling cover. This is a nice looking and efficient piece. Downside: It does not break down.
