PARISH NEWS From our Pastor…

Over the past few years, the Archdiocese of Omaha has undergone renovation in the way they do ministry at the chancery and at the parish level. Many of you were involved in Archbishop Lucas’ listening sessions from which came “One Church, Encountering

Jesus, Equipping Disciples and Living Mercy.” As Catholic Christians, we are called to follow our Lord’s command to “Go and make disciples.” This is nothing new. The Church has always had this mission. But over time, the Catholic Church has become stagnant in that vocation. Pope John Paul II wrote about engaging our people in “The New Evangelization.” Recently, Archbishop Lucas encouraged the priests of the Archdiocese to meet with their leadership teams to review their current ministries and determine what adjustments can be made. He felt inspired by the Holy Spirit, given all the changes we have been experiencing in this time of COVID-19. Every parish experiences “The same people do most everything in the parish.” This is good because it offers stability and quality. However, they can also limit parishioner involvement, become burned out, stagnant and deteriorate in quality, effectiveness or purpose. Participation in ministries at St. Bon’s is less than 30%, and many parish-ioners are involved in multiple ministries. At St. Bon’s, our discernment has led us to implement ways that increase parishioner involvement. Over the last few years, the Archbishop encouraged pastors and their leaders to read the book Divine Renovation by Fr. James Mallon. This inspired us to want our parish to move more effectively from maintenance to mission. We want people to engage in ministry because it is ‘life-giving’ for the parish (and for them), not because ‘they have to because no one else will.’ We will strive to be more intentional about growing our ministries and relationships within our parish. Everyone who is interested in getting involved in a particular ministry can have an opportunity. We want new faces and new ideas. We are seeking creative ways to engage more of our parishioners. We need your help. If you are interested in a particular ministry, please call the parish office.

Blessings,

COURT LITTLE FLOWER #988 will meet on Monday, September 14, 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the St.Bon's social Hall. Please park in the NPPD parking lot, located directly across the street. The program will be the Installation of New

Officers with Communion Service. Sandwiches and Dessert will be served, followed by the meeting. Co-Chair ladies: Patricia Ter-nus, Marge Borer, Janet Dobesh. If you have any questions per-taining to this email, please call Bev Kudron 402-910-1432

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS All of the windows are done and refur-bished, they are being stored at Lambrecht Glass Studio in Omaha till the window frames arrive. The New York based compa-ny manufacturing the window frames shut

down for COVID-19 and recently started back up manufacturing frames again. Unfortunately our order is in the queue but on a long waiting list. When Lambrecht receives the frames it is a top priority for them to finish our window project, but at this time we do not have an exact date on when the frames will be done. For the plaster repair work we have hired KEHM Contractors to com-plete this project, they will start repairs this Fall. It might seem like a long process but in the end we will be able to enjoy the beauty of the windows for many, many years. Thank you for your prayers and your support of the Stained Glass Window project!

WEEKDAY MASSES Great News!!! Beginning Tuesday, October 6 all 6:30 AM Weekday Masses will now be inside St. Bonaventure Church. The church will be locked after the Mass as we are still a

construction site. We will like to especially thank Fr. Ross Burkhalter and St. Anthony’s Church for allowing us to utilize their church for our weekday Masses through the duration of Project 2020.

SEATING AT MASS We are so excited that more and more people are coming back to Mass! It is wonderful sight to see! Because of the seating protocols that we still have to maintain, we are asking that if you sit in the middle section of the church - single people sit four to a pew, couples sit two couples per pew so that families can all sit together in one pew. If you want a pew by yourself, please sit in the side pews as they are smaller and can’t accommodate families. Thank you for being so accommodating and kind to our Ush-ers/Greeters! We are grateful to these volunteer s!

NEW PRAYER BOX Standing outside of the Scotus Central Catholic High School Chapel entrance is a beautiful bronze Prayer Box. It is a symbol of a community that will open their hearts to you in prayer. We extend a far reaching invitation to anyone seeking God’s love and mercy, grace and peace, to place a heartfelt prayer request inside the Prayer Box. Whatever season of life or faith journey you may be experienc-ing, we will prayerfully embrace your prayer request. As the Prayer Box becomes full, we will place your prayer request in a sacred place and will continue to pray for you, always. We offer a note of gratitude to Fred Hoppe, bronze sculptor, for designing and creating the prayer box. We are most appreciative for the financial support from the Scotus Class of 1999, the Sco-tus Booster Club and the Knights of Columbus Council 938. A prayer community is forming and they invite all of you to pray for the intentions placed in the prayer box.
