Call to Worship
Prayer of Adoration
GIVE PRAISE AND THANKS TO GOD_________________
*Hymn of Praise #87 “Come, Christians Join to Sing” Deacons will collect prayer requests
*Prayer of Confession
Heavenly Father, our lives and all our ways are like an
open book before you. There is nothing we can hide from you
and with humility we recall those things in which we have come
short of the standard set for us by Christ our Lord. The spirit of
true charity motivates us only fitfully; concern for ourselves
crowds out the compassion we should feel for others. Have
mercy on us, forgive all our sins, strengthen us in goodness, and
bring us to eternal life, through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
*Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
*Congregational Response Hymn #72 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear
presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope
for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Great is
Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new
mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—Great is
Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Time with the Children
Anthem
Joys and Concerns
Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer …Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom
come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

A Renewal of Our Mission
Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of
evil that rebel against God?
I renounce them!
Do you renounce all sinful desires that draw you from
the love of God?
I renounce them!
Do you turn to Jesus Christ?
Yes! I trust in him as my Lord and Savior.
Do you intend to be Christ’s faithful disciple, trusting
his promises, obeying his Word, honoring his church,
and showing his love, as long as you live?
Yes! God helping me.
And will you join in the mission of the people of God
at Ken Mawr Church to declare God’s grace and
demonstrate God’s love, as we are directed by God’s
word?
By God’s grace I will.
One of the most essential questions
in the Christian faith is, “Who do
you say I am?” Jesus asked his
disciples this question at Caesarea
Philippi in Matthew 16:15. This year
in the season of Lent I have chosen
a sermon series that aims to help
us all find an answer to this
important question. The God We
Can Know is a seven week study
written by Methodist pastor, Rob
Fuquay. The series is designed for
the entire congregation to explore
the “I Am” sayings of Jesus found
the Gospel of John.
One by one, Jesus’ statements grab our imagination, reveal more
about his identity and purpose, and connect us to the God of
Moses, who spoke the first “I Am.” These significant yet ordinary
images (bread, light, shepherd, vine, and more) give us insightful
ways to experience Jesus and point us to a God who wants to be
known.
Filmed on location in the Holy Land, an accompanying DVD allows
us to travel with Rob Fuquay and actually see the places where
Jesus stood when he disclosed his true identity, and in what
context he spoke each “I Am.” This series promises to provide a
meaningful and transforming look at the person of Jesus, our
Savior and Lord.
You are also invited to discuss the “I Am” sayings with us on
Sunday morning in one of our adult groups during the Sunday
School hour (9:45-10:45am). We would love to have you join us.

Welcome to Ken Mawr Church. January 28th marks the 30th anniversary of
the space shuttle Challenger disaster. Just a minute into the sky, the failure
of a small O-ring sparked a series of events that resulted in the spacecraft
breaking apart in midair. This simple circle of rubber turned out to be as
important as the ultra-sophisticated, state-of-the-art computer guidance
system. Paul says that every follower of Jesus has a spiritual gift. As a
follower of Christ it is guaranteed that we have one. Let’s be on the lookout
for O-ring people – people with essential gifts that are hard to see. Honor
them and respect them. -Pastor Karl
