THIS WEEK @GRACE ONLINE
Sunday Worship at the Virtual Café – Every week we
are increasing in numbers! So many of us are missing
our faces and smiles of our Grace Family. Join us online 10:30am
Sunday for worship and connection. A Zoom link is included in the
Congregational Email. Click on the link and follow the instructions to
go to the “Virtual Café.” There we’ll have a chance to greet one
another, watch the service together, fellowship afterwards and even
ask questions about the message of the day. Invite a friend to join in.
Bring along your favourite mug filled with your favourite morning
beverage.
A Teen explores Canon & Dating: ‘What makes the books that
are in the Bible, to be the books in the Bible?’ – Sunday’s at 4pm,
join Ragnar and Jacob’s Zoom meeting. As the weather is getting
warmer and the lockdowns are easing up, we thought it would be a
good time to wrap up our series. Last Sunday an important
conversation developed, so we postponed the scheduled topic. Click
the Zoom invitation on the Congregational Email. Please note, other
participants will be on mute while discussing the topic. You can leave a
comment or question in the Comment Box. Thank you everyone for
the participation and encouragement over the past few weeks. Ragnar
Mid-Week Grace Online – Miss connecting with a small group? Join
us on Zoom weekly on Wednesdays at 7pm for a time of prayer and
Bible Study, “Walking with God in the Desert”. Ray Vander Laan
explores God’s provision during our desert like experiences and what
the Bible means when it says we walk by faith. Filmed on site in the
Holy Land this 7-week series entitled Walking with God in the Desert
reveals God is closer than ever during difficult periods in life. We’ll be
exploring the story of wilderness and we'll have time to connect and
pray together. Click the link in the Mid-Week Update email to join with
Zoom. Simply follow the instruction to connect.
May 30th-31st: 24 Hours of Prayer
To mark Pentecost this year, there will be a 24-Hours of
Prayer Event. Sign-up by emailing or phoning the office for
a half-hour time slot between 11am Saturday May 30 and
10:30am Sunday May 31. We’ll start the prayer time Saturday
morning at 10:20am with a group Zoom prayer gathering. Afterwards
there will be continuous prayer for 24 hours as different people take
their half-hour slots. A prayer guide will be provided to help you as

Welcome to Worship as we continue to explore The Gift of the Holy
Spirit. This week, we consider spiritual gifts and see how the Spirit
gives to each follower of Christ a gift which is to be used for the
benefits of others, the building of God’s people, and for God’s glory.
While many have multiple gifts, and some may have more visible
places of service, each gift should be cherished as an important part of
building a community of faith. The message this week will highlight
Paul’s emphasis on unity, diversity, and ministry, and give us some
tips on how to discover our own spiritual gifts.

"Many Peoples – One Community"
2pm-3pm Sunday, May 31: Drive-Thru Retirement Party
Pastor Marilyn will complete her work among us in just a couple of
weeks, and while the large party we had hoped to host can’t be
done right now, we can’t just let this moment pass unnoticed. You
are invited to a drive through party! We will have Pastor Marilyn at
the Welcome Center Doors from 2pm-3pm Sunday May 31.
Enter the church parking lot from Northumberland St. As you go
past Marilyn, stop to extend congratulations, sing a song,
recite a poem, blow a kazoo, or however you’d like to
express your appreciation. (Decorating your car with
balloons and congratulatory signs is okay too.) There will
be a place to drop cards. Marilyn is taking up bicycling
after work is done. Gifts are not necessary, but if you’d like to
include a gift, contributions to the “Marilyn Bike Fund” could be an
option.

Dear Grace Memorial Baptist Church,
I have a confession to make...... I moved the furniture in the
parlour. Alright I moved it so I could paint the walls and I moved
all the furniture as well as the artwork. Everything is cleaned and
ready to go for when we are able to return. Over the years the
parlour has seen a lot of use for a variety of reasons. Have you
ever looked around to see what is on the walls? A few people know
what is hanging on the parlour walls, but I suspect the majority of
you have no idea what is there and who created it (right Pastor
Marilyn?).
I want to tell you a bit about the art.
• Joey Niles did a lovely oil painting of a barn and field which she
has at home. A beautiful print of it hanging in the parlour.
• Lilies of Grace is the title given to the water colour painting by
Ethel Smith (2005).
• Faye R. Jeffery did an oil painting with her left hand and it is
titled Autumn Leaves.
• There is a quaint little cottage and baskets of apples in the Fall
print by Sherrie Evans.
• Nettie Downie did a detailed painting of daisies which hangs
near Ether Smith’s painting of a pink flowers water colour
(1995).
• Vince Corey has printed a photograph of Carleton Park.
• Gerry Childs produced a photograph called Grand Manan
Sunrise.
The art in the parlour is beautiful! So many talented people
amongst us! I would encourage you to visit the parlour sometime
in the future just to see the artwork. Robin
Ways to Give – Thank you for your faithful giving during this
period when many find it difficult. It is a blessing to our Grace
Community of Faith. We currently have four methods of giving:
• Pre-Authorized Debit – This is probably the easiest way to
maintain your regular giving. You can set up an automatic
withdrawal from your account to Grace. We have had this option
for several years and a many people are using it. If you wish to
start, contact the office and we can email you the forms to fill
out and walk you through the process if you’d like.
• Drop-Off – You can drop off an offering at the church building.
Come to the Northumberland Street door during office hours T-F
8:30-4:30, there is a donation box in the entry. Ring the bell to
enter and leave your envelope in the donation box. Tellers are
processing dropped off offerings about once every two weeks.
• E-Transfer – You can e-transfer to the church in the same way
you might send other e-transfers. Please clearly note in the
message section of the e-transfer how much you are directing
to particular funds (For example: Current, Missions, Building,
Easter). Funds that are not designated will be directed to
Current expenses, which are our day to day expenses for
ministries. Send e-transfers to our church Treasurer, Jim
Monteith, at [email protected].
• Canada Helps - Canada Helps is a registered charity that
collects online donations for Canadian charities and then passes
them on to the charity. You can go to canadahelps.org and
search for Grace Memorial Baptist. You will find us listed as
Grace Memorial United Baptist Church Inc. Then follow the
instructions to make a donation. Thank you!
