INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTIONOn the following PowerPoint Presentations there are a series of vision tests, visual acuity, color vision, and contrast sensitivity. The tests are run by left-clicking the mouse on either the forward or backward buttons at the bottom left corner of each slide. To go from one test to another, left-click the button next to the picture of the test you would like. Anytime that you would like to stop the test, just press the “esc” key. While the tests will measure different aspects of your vision, they are not a substitute for an eye examination by your eye care professional. Accordingly, any questions about the tests should be directed your eye care professional. We hope that you enjoy the tests and finding out who among your family and friends does the best.

GUIDELINESGUIDELINESEach slide of each test will show a score in the lower right corner of the screen. The score only indicated RELATIVE performance on the tests. So you can compare how well you do against someone else or how one eye compares to the other. The reason for the only being a measure of RELATIVE performance is because computers have differing graphics capabilities as do computer monitors. For example, some computers will have a much higher resolution than others. Accordingly, there can be no one standard. Hence, the tests will only measure RELATIVE performance. In regard to scoring, the higher the score, the better performance. Find out who in the family gets the highest score. Like a hearing test, the visions tests can go forward and backward by just clicking on the arrows on the lower left hand of the screen. In this way, you can determine your threshold of performance.Once again, while these tests will provide a measure of your vision, it is not a substitute for an examination by your eye care professional. We hope you have fun exploring the limits of your vision.

The TestsThe TestsVisual Acuity measures how clearly we can see. The smaller the direction of the letter we can recognize, the better our vision

The name of this color vision test is the Nagel Anomaloscope. The goal of the test is to match the right half of the circle to the yellow in the left half.Contrast Sensitivity measures our ability to differentiate between black and white. This test consists of looking at a line gradient and being able to see the black and white lines. The less contrast where we can still see the lines, the better our vision.
