What is a building block?A Building Block is what grew out of my desire to create my own campaign setting for a super-hero themed RPG.

Originally intended for a system that died I began to shop my setting around for a new home and found the existing settings tobe of excellent quality and saw no reason to try and reinvent the wheel by writing basically the same thing with a new name.This realization left me in a creative quandary, I still very much wanted to continue writing my setting, but I didn’t see a realneed for it. So I broke it into little pieces.

Those pieces were then re-thought and made general enough to be easily added to any existing setting with no trou-ble. So rather than create my own setting I’m allowing GMs to add bits and pieces of it to their campaigns. In my experience

running various RPGs, I often found myself cringing at the thought of creating yet another tavern or NPC. And looked for aproduct that would help me avoid this sometimes tedious chore. I found some good stuff, but never quite found what I waslooking for.

All Building Blocks will contain locations, NPCs, as well as adventure hooks or even a short adventure. All of theseare designed to be easily inserted into your current setting. And since Building Blocks are all designed to fill what I feel is anexisting need in the super-hero RPG field in time you should be able to find one to fit your exact needs!

While Building Blocks are meant to be independent of any ties to any setting, I couldn’t help but sprinkle elements ofmy original setting throughout them. So if you find a reference to a person or organization that is not contained within yourBuilding Block it will be explained in another. But don’t worry, the references can be easily ignored or replaced with somethingmore appropriate from your own campaign. They serve only to create a sense of continuity between our products and allow forfurther building points to create adventures.

At the end of the day the goal of the Building Block line is to seed the GMs imagination and provide a springboard tomove your campaign forward. So have fun with it and let us know what you think! We’d love to hear from you!

Cimino PawnIt only stands to reason that the most disreputable

purveyor of questionable goods would be found in the city’sworst neighborhood. That’s the role gladly played by oneUgo Cimino. When his father came to America from Sicily itwas to make a new life for his family away from crime andcorruption. Ugo was content with his family’s modest, buthappy lifestyle. That is until he reached his twentieth year

when he began realizing that the world had more to offerthan his meager surroundings and he wanted it. All of it.He began buying stolen merchandise from the local

hoods and selling it from the back of his fathers store. Re-markably he never was arrested or even suspected of beinga fence and he gained a reputation for being able to get any-thing. When his father passed on he left his small grocerystore to his only son, Ugo, who immediately closed it and re-opened as a pawn shop. The shop would serve as his frontfor moving all manner of stolen goods from wristwatches tohigh-tech weaponry. Occasionally the police make a pre-tense of investigating Ugo, but his bribes prevents any seri-ous scrutiny.

Cimino Pawn is a relatively small store that for alloutward appearances would pass for an average pawnshop. In fact a good portion of his business is legitimate, butthe real face of Cimino Pawn is the basement. Reinforcedwalls (hardness 17) prevent most external observation andhide an array of weapons, armor and mystical items thatwould make most would-be conquerors drool. Ugo under-stands each and every item in his store and can explain itsexact usage to any would-be customer. He is also not par-ticular about whom he sells to as long as they pay with cash.

A man like Ugo Cimino does not stay in a businesslike his for long without knowing how to protect himself, tothat end he employs two high-tech android guards (pg. 3) inhis shop. Any unauthorized access leads to immediate at-tack. He also is prepared to use them in the eventuality ofone of the cities costumed heroes decides to cause him any

real trouble.Many have wondered where the high-tech weap-onry that passes through Cimino Pawn comes from. Some ofit is simply stolen merchandise, but some of the more power-ful and expensive items are created by a mysterious under-world figure known only by the alias of the Inventor. He al-lows Ugo to sell some of his surplus equipment in exchangefor a modest commission. The Inventor is believed to bebehind most of the illegal weapons found on the city streets,but so far no one has been able to even prove his existence.

Adventure Hooks1- Local gangs have been armed with very heavy weaponry.Cimino is obviously selling them, but how are they being

paid for? That kind of tech doesn’t come cheap. Is someonefronting the money? And why?2- Ugo Cimino has been selling high tech and mysticalweapons for years, but where does he keep getting thisstuff?3- Word on the street points to a large arms shipment iscoming into town, but the heroes are fresh out of leads as towhere it will be. They must convince Cimino to tell themwhere the weapons will be and when.

Ugo CiminoUgo Cimino is a slob of a man who, while not huge,

carries extra weight and personal hygiene is an afterthoughtat best. His clothing is usually shabby and very rarely doeshe ever feel the need to impress anyone. He is rude to eve-ryone and crude to woman. He has no manners and evenless patience.

Ugo is a businessman first and foremost, he will not

intentionally upset a customer or business acquaintance tothe point of losing out on a deal. For the right price he willbend over backwards and gladly suck up to anyone. How-ever only a fool would ever trust Ugo Cimino any farther thathe could throw a city bus.

Our Lady of MercyIn the fall of 1694 an aged priest from Massachu-

setts, Lucius Redd, came to the city with dreams of buildinga grand church to serve as a haven to all in needs of Godsmercy. It took four years for construction to be completed butin the winter of 1699 Our Lady of Mercy welcomed the publicinto its halls. For several years the church stood as the larg-est structure for miles and was the spiritual home to most of

the city with Redd as its heart.On his death bed in spring of 1708 he confessed tohaving been involved with the witch trials at Salem. His rolein those now famous proceedings had been weighing on hisheart and he had hoped to find redemption in his new home,but now he was consigned to die with a guilty conscience.

Little changed at Our Lady of Mercy in the followingdecades Redd was replaced by a younger man, JosephMcKinley, who served the church faithfully for nearly thirtyyears. One day when a young man was accused of robbingthe church’s offerings, McKinley called for punishment to bedealt out to the man. Without ever bothering to involve theauthorities at the behest of McKinley the people of thechurch brutally stoned the man and very nearly killed him.Later it was discovered that another man had taken themoney and that realization drove McKinley over the edge, heseparated himself from society in an attempt to re-connectwith God and learn how to atone for his sins.

After a week of solitary prayer and contemplation,the spirit of Lucius Redd appeared to McKinley and in-structed him to seek out the wrongly accused and bring them

justice and shine light on the truth in all things. To aid in hisquest McKinley was imbued with the ability to detect false-hoods whenever he heard them, he also discovered hecould cause overwhelming guilt in those who would allowothers to be blamed for their misdeeds. Abandoning hisidentity as Joseph McKinley he became the Inquisitor. Train-ing in the ways of the law he worked his way into the courtsystem and he would find those who where truly innocent

during the day, and track down the guilty at night.For years the Inquisitor turned the guilty to the pathof redemption and set the innocent free. Eventually old ageclaimed him. But it didn’t take long for another to be chosento be the new Inquisitor, the powers sometimes changed, asdid the means of finding the innocent and the guilty, but themission never did. The link between the Inquisitor and OurLady of Mercy has long caused the church to support thehero in the mission to set the innocent free.

The city eventually grew to envelop Our Lady ofMercy and it was surrounded by urban decay and forgottenby the city at large. Now it serves as a beacon of hope forthose unfortunates who find themselves in Rose alley and abase of operations for this generation’s Inquisitor.

Adventure Hooks1- Someone has been robbing stores and homes aroundthe alley and the homeless population are being blamed.Can the heroes discover the true culprits before the citymoves to solve the problem themselves?2- A mysterious vigilante has been tracking down peopleseemingly at random and forcing them to confess for crimesthey had no connection with. Who is this person and what istheir motivation?3- The activities of the Inquisitor have angered a local crime

lord who has put a 10-million dollar price on her head. Canthe heroes save the Inquisitor from the hit men now swarm-ing after the money?

The Inquisitor The current Inquisitor inherited the powers and the

guise of the Inquisitor after her husband tried to have herarrested for crimes he committed. Using her newfound gifts

to ferret out the truth she was able to clear her name and puther husband behind bars.She returned to school and became a lawyer, she

now uses her powers to aid in her role as public defender.As the inquisitor she wears a black costume with red accentsand a large cross adorns her chest. The Inquisitor takes her

job very seriously and will take great care to use no moreforce than is absolutely necessary.

While capable of lying, the thought of it runs againsteverything the Inquisitor stands for and is only done whenabsolutely necessary. The Inquisitor is in frequent contactwith the catholic church, from whom she sometimes receiveshelp and moral support in her crusade.

Wrex’s Bad Ticker BarWrex’s is one of those bars where the band plays

behind a wall of chicken wire and the floor it covered withpeanut shells and teeth. The kind of place where wearing asuit could get your arm broken and a game of pool has costlives. Open by the now-reformed villain Wrex as a way toretire gracefully, but still be able to keep in touch with his oldbuddies.

The bar sits in a particularly bad corner of Black-rose Alley where people have been known to disappear. It isalso one of the best places to go for information of any sort.Some of the cities most notorious villains unwind here after abusy day and like most people they tend to get chatty afterputting away a few drinks. There is a strict ‘no-tights’ rule ineffect at al times in Wrex’s; meaning no costumes or any-thing to identify yourselves as your more ‘public’ identity.Fights are tolerated up until they become too destructive atwhich point Wrex or one of his bouncers will become in-volved.

The bar itself is decorated with souvenirs fromWrex’s more rambunctious days as a criminal. Parts of po-lice cruisers hang from the walls and mug shots and news-paper clippings fill out the rest. Despite the frequent brawlsand rowdy patrons the bar is always very well-kept and rela-tively clean. Wrex cooks and bartends almost every night ofthe week and is known for making drinks that hold a kick foreven those with super constitutions.

Adventure Hooks1- A body has turned up in Wrex’s bar and all evidencepoint to Wrex himself as being the killer. Has he gone backto his old ways or has someone set him up?2- A string of robberies has baffled the local police as wellas the heroes. Wrex’s bar is the best place to go for informa-tion, but can the heroes get their questions answered with-out being found out by the less-than-savory characters thatfrequent the bar?3– The heroes have found the person they believe to bebehind a very large robbery, but there’s a problem. The sus-pect is an old friend or Wrex and is hiding out at his bar.What’s more is Wrex is refusing to hand them over becausehe believes them to be innocent.

WrexRex Van Sweden was a big boy. A VERY big boy.

He grew to five feet by age ten and had the muscle mass ofan Olympic weightlifter. He tried to play various sports but itwas just too obvious that he was super-powered and wastherefore booted from every team he tried to join. He was

also very friendly and worked very hard to please people, butusually he just scared them off. By the time he turned six-teen he had become very bitter with the world and lashedout. The problem being that when a seven foot tall teenagerthat can lift a Buick over his head lashes out, people gethurt.

He spent the next two years on the Elmhurst IslandJuvenile Facility for super-powered teens. The councilorsthere tried to reach out to him, but the only success they hadwas in cooking where he showed amazing skill. Eventuallyhe was released and spent the next fifteen years as a super-powered thug and muscle-for-hire. He made a lot of money

and did a lot of time, but five years ago he learned that hisheart wasn’t quite as tough as the rest of him. It seems thatall his years of extreme physical activity had taken it’s toll onhis heart and if he didn’t give up his life of crime it wouldlikely kill him.

Not wanting to end up dead in his thirties he gaveup crime and spent what was left of his money to buy a bar.He made it into a successful and profitable business and hasfound happiness in it. Wrex is still very large and a littlerough around the edges, but he really does have a heart ofgold, but god help you if you manage to make him mad. He’schatty and loves to go on, at great length, about his ‘goodold days’ and is quite oblivious to the fact that he goes on forfar too long with his stories.

Rialto TheaterThe Rialto Theater was built in the late 1950s and

served as one of the city’s finest movie houses as well ashost to many plays, operas and stage shows over the years.In fall of 1961 a Russian-born magician, Novgorod, made hisU.S. debut at the Rialto. He finished his act flawlessly andwowed a packed house, only to suffer a massive strokebackstage and spend the rest of his days bed-ridden. Or

there was the singer, Carrie Myron the ‘songbird of thesouth’, who’s career was started at the Rialto in the late fif-ties.

By the 1970s the theater had fallen victim to thefickle tastes of the public and changed owners several timesbefore finally closing it’s doors in 1977. In the interveningyears the building fell into disrepair and was scheduled fordemolition when it was bought by a young entrepreneur withvisions of restoring the grand old building to it’s former glory.In 1983 the Rialto Theater reopened for business and itlooked as though it’s success could be the catalyst forchange that Blackrose Alley needed to become once again asafe and prosperous part of the city. This was not to be, as aseries of murders were terrorizing the city and the killereluded the police at every turn. On a warm May morning in1984 the papers were filled with stories of bodies by thedozen being pulled from the basement of the Rialto. Themurders stopped and the killer was never caught, but his lastvictim it seems, was the Rialto.

Currently the building is owned by an un-namedparty and sits vacant, save for a known villain going by thename of Rollover, who has made it his home. Rollover is amutant with enhanced strength and speed, he would be dan-gerous if he wasn’t also an idiot.

Adventure Hooks1- A movie is being shot in the city and the producers madethe mistake of filming in the Rialto. Rollover decides that the

lead actress is going to be his new ‘girl’ and takes her out fora night on the town.2– Novgorod returns from the dead to put on a show. Butthis time his ‘volunteers’ are people randomly abducted fromthe street and forced to participate in a show that may wellcause them to disappear forever. The PCs must find andrescue the hostages before they are harmed. And what partdoes Rollover play in this?3– A string of murders has the city gripped with fear. So farall of the killings show an eerie resemblance to the unsolvedkilling spree of the early 80’s. Has the killer returned? Or is itsomething more sinister? Will Roll-over be falsely ac-cused? The evidence even has him convinced.

RolloverHugo Jones grew up in a suburb of Cleveland in the

mid eighties. He was different from the time he was bornwith his grey skin and yellow eyes. He was tormented atschool all through his elementary years. Then puberty kickedin. His muscle mass grew at an accelerated rate and hefound he was able to run faster than anyone else in school,much faster. He became the biggest bully Cleveland hadever seen and took out his anger on those that had pickedon him. As an adult his mentality has not changed very muchand he remains a bully.

Rollover wears a blue/purple costume that covers

most of his body. His skin is a light grey color and his eyesare glowing yellow. Not the brightest of people, but what helacks in brains he makes up for with brawn and a willingnessto use it. He does not like to hit women and is prone tocrushes on a moment’s notice. He thinks very highly of him-self and feels everyone else should too.

The BriarsMany people wonder from the secure confines of

their daily lives just how somebody could allow themselvesto end up on the streets sleeping in alleyways or a cardboardbox; surely there must have been a way to prevent such afate. For many this life sneaks up on them slowly, so slowlythey never realize it’s happening until it’s too late. For otherstheir lives explode in an instant of poor judgment or misfor-

tune. Whatever the case many find themselves living outsideof the normal world and often cling to each other in an effortto create new communities for protection, companionshipand a sense of stability for those that have lost everything.Rose Alley has more than its fair share of homeless being asection of the city that most people care little for, the home-less find refuge. Largely ignored by both the criminal ele-ment and law-enforcement the homeless have established athriving commune in a condemned hotel, the Briars.

Built in 1956, the Briars was for a short time anescape for the cities elite, but the harsh realities of RoseAlley could not be tamed and the hotel closed it’s doors afterfour short years in business. The building has remained va-cant ever since and was condemned by the city ten yearsago, but there have been no plans to re-develop the site so ithas remained vacant. A few years ago the homeless of thearea began to rally around a new ‘leader,’ a meta-humanwith a bizarre appearance that made her life amongst normalpeople impossible, but the homeless accepted her as simplyone of their own. She used her powers to carve a place forthe homeless by claiming the Briars building as a homelesshaven.

Close to two-hundred homeless live in the confinesof the Briars building, most are just normal people dealt apoor hand by life, but some others are much more than theyappear. There are other outcast meta-humans and thosewho for whatever reason, wish not to be found. The home-less have also collected a wide variety of unusual items,mostly trash taken from various parts of the city, but some

items were collected after meta-human battles and couldcontain vast power. The leader has control of access tothese items and will not allow outsiders to know of their exis-tence if she can help it.

Adventure Hooks1- Several homeless have disappeared in the past fewweeks. The police don’t really care, so the PCs are ap-proached to help out.2- A reality TV show featuring a crew of ‘hunters’ that trackand capture the super-powered homeless of the city. Canthe PCs stop this before someone gets hurt?3– Tired of being pushed around by the local gangs the

homeless have started to push back, but as the violenceescalates innocent people are being hurt.

The LeaderVery little is known about the leader before she

appeared in Rose Alley three years ago. A Young woman ofabout sixteen years, she had a full set of luggage and all ofthe belongings a typical teenage girl would have, she alsohad completely transparent skin making her internal organsand muscle clearly visible. The leader, or Mary, has forged afamily as tight and caring as any found all across America.Her natural charisma and genuine concern for the homeless

have earned her their trust and respect. Her primary concernin life is the safety and well-being of her fellow homeless.

The leader is a normal girl in her late teens. Shedresses in normal clothing, albeit shabby second-hand cloth-ing from various sources. She has long brown hair andtransparent skin that makes her bones, muscles and organsconstantly visible. Quiet and reserved, until the time comesto make a decision, then she becomes resolute and will

deep inside there lives an anger that wells up and lashes outat those around him with super-human strength. Most peopletend to believe that his anger was simply too much for him tohandle and he fled his previous life to live in an environmentwhere he couldn’t harm anyone. While others say he is amurderer and has blocked his crimes from his memory bychoice. Whatever the case he has found peace amongst thehomeless and on the rare occasions when his anger gets thebetter of him it has always been in defense of his fellowhomeless.

Gangs of the AlleySeveral gangs of angry young men and women

prowl the streets. Most of them are just normal people seek-ing a sense of belonging and family. Some are groups ofparticularly bloodthirsty and violent societal outcasts bent onwreaking as much havoc as possible. While still others in-clude misfit super-powered beings with powers that havemade the already difficult transition into adulthood almost

impossible.Oftentimes rebellious and driven by anger at beingrejected by their biological family and society at large, theyfind solace in the adopted family of the street. The gangsthemselves view these misguided supers as a means to gainreal power and respect, and so they accept them when oth-ers will not. Detailed here are two of the most prominentgangs with super-powered leaders and one that rules theirterritory through terror and intimidation.

The Dragons The Dragons first appeared on the city streets al-

most twenty years ago. They tried to make a name for them-selves and earn the respect they felt they deserved, it justdidn’t work out well for them and the Dragons become some-thing of a joke on the streets. That changed four years agowith the arrival of a super known as Li Rong “the Dragon”Teng.

Thrown from her home at thirteen when her super-powers began to manifest themselves in her disturbing ap-pearance, Li Rong became tough in order to survive. Due toher reptilian appearance and ability to breathe fire she be-came known as the Dragon. At Sixteen she joined the Drag-ons gang and soon rose through the ranks to become theleader of the gang.

Her intelligence and raw powers have made theDragons a force to be reckoned with. While they may not beresponsible for bank robberies or bombings, the Dragons run

a lucrative protection racket and terrorize the inhabitants ofseveral city blocks.

Li Ron ‘the Dragon’ TengLi Ron Teng was born in a family of wealth, her

mother a lawyer and her father a businessman. She hadeverything she could have wanted except her parent’s atten-tion. They were so busy with their own lives that they almostnever noticed their daughter. She convinced herself that shedidn’t need anyone but herself, so when she began to growa layer of scales over her skin and her parents disownedher, she didn’t mind. After running away from her foster par-ents she took to the streets where her attitude only wors-ened. She fought her way into the Dragons and into the roleas leader and is very proud of what she has done all by her-self.

Li Ron has not tolerance for weakness in any form.She is cold and calculating willing to sacrifice anyone or any-thing to achieve her goals. She is an effective fighter havingbeen trained in martial arts in her youth and does not hesi-tate to shed the first blood. Li Ron has a layer of shiny greyscales that cover her entire body. CrosswireLeon Marcellus had it hard as a child, his mother

was an alcoholic and his father was just gone. No one cared

where he went or what he did so he constantly found himselfgetting into more and bigger trouble. His first arrest was atthe age of 15 when he stole a car and by 19 he had alreadyserved a brief sentence in prison. Shortly after his twentiethbirthday he discovered his mutant electric powers. So hedecided use his powers to make all of his dreams come trueand crush anyone that tried to stop him..

Leon, now calling himself Crosswire, soon set hissights on a local gang leader and found himself cornered byfifteen members of that very gang. He struck wildly and be-fore he knew it, he had incapacitated them all. It was easywork to kill the gang leader and shortly after he assumedleadership of the Hustlers. The new course for his life wasnow set as the leader of the most feared gang in the city.

Leon is fond of loose fitting clothes and sunglasses,which serve to hide the special armor he wears for a littleextra protection. He is always very clean and well-kept andprides himself on his appearance. Leon craves respect andwill go to great lengths to get it. He is more than willing toresort to violence if his reputation is on the line, but will usu-ally try and talk his way out of a situation first. He is veryprotective of his gang family and takes poorly to anyone heviews as a threat to them.

Hundred Dolla Killaz C-Note made his name at a young age alongside

the man that would become one of the cities most fearedcrime fighters, Night Owl. The two were best of friends asteens and looked out for one another, that is until a desper-ate C-Note killed his friend’s parents for money.

In the years since that night, being on the run as awanted man, he become the central figure in one of the larg-est organized gangs in the city. Responsible for drugs,money laundering, extortion, murder and almost any other

crime imaginable, the Hundred Dolla Killaz take their namefrom C-Note’s penchant for shoving hundred-dollar bills intothe mouths of his victims.

Safe from police scrutiny, thanks to large and nu-merous bribes, the Killaz only real threat is the various vigi-lantes that prowl the streets at night. However, a warningwas sent to all would-be heroes. It came in the form of a verydead crime fighter, left hanging outside the city hall with aone-hundred dollar bill in his mouth. The Killaz will tolerateno threat to their organization and will deal with anyone thattries with extreme violence.

C-NoteClarence was raised by his father and grandpar-

ents, his mother died giving birth to him. He received loveand attention, but always lashed out against it. He gotcaught up in a life of violence and drugs and enjoyed everyminute of it. He also took the name C-Note, because of histendency to flash a wad of hundred dollar bills after a rob-bery. By sixteen he met Ian Chappel a young man with asimilar outlook on life and more, his parents were worth overthree million dollars. C-Note saw in Ian a chance to buy hisway into the easy life so he befriended him.

The two young men went on a three-years rampageand often found themselves spending time in jail, but nothingwas ever pinned on them and they always walked. C-Notewas reckless and hell-bent on causing havoc, but he was not

stupid, he always found a way to eliminate evidence andproduce an alibi. Five years ago he did make one big mis-take, while trying to impress a young woman he made somewagers at a local casino. Having lost and unable to cover thebets, he was given only five days to cover almost ten-thousand dollars. C-Note became desperate. He decided tobreak into his friend Ian’s home and steal the money, afterall they had plenty of cash. He was discovered by Ian’s fa-ther, Avery, and in a panic C-Note shot him. He then heard

screams coming from another room and knew them to beIan’s mother and then shot her too. Gathering the cash heneeded he quickly fled.

C-Note paid of the bookie and decided to lay low fora while. In his haste he had left fingerprints and knew thepolice would be looking for him. He spent weeks in a safehouse until his friend Ian finally found him. He tried to con-vince Ian that he had done him a favor by killing his parentsbecause he would now inherit three million dollars. Ian beatC-Note within an inch of his life and left his unconsciousbody for the police to find.

C-Note found himself in a jail cell awaiting trialwhen one of the cities most prominent lawyers paid him avisit. She had been hired by an un-named benefactor to rep-resent C-Note in court. She found every loophole and techni-cality in the book and C-Note only served three years for thetwo murder and robbery charges. When he was releasedfrom prison C-Note found a car waiting for him with a veryinsistent driver. Soon he was standing in front of CalvinoTurri one of the cities most notorious gangsters. It was Cal-vino that had hired the lawyer. Having watched C-Note forsome time, he was impressed by the young man and offeredC-Note an opportunity to become an enforcer for one of hisdrug operations. C-Note accepted the offer and took to hisnew position with enthusiasm. He gained influence and noto-riety for being very ‘hands on’.

Eventually he broke free of the Turri family andmade it clear he intended to remain free of them by killingCalvino and cramming several hundred dollar bill down his

throat. C-Note renamed his crew the Hundred Dolla Killazand remains one the cities most wanted drug lords.

Disc JunkiesOriginally built as a warehouse, the club called Disc

Junkies is one of the few places in the alley that will bring inpeople from other parts of the city. It is known for it’s wildparties and wilder patrons. Movie stars and gangsters haveall been known to come here, but not publicly of course.Anything can be had here for the right price and that is thetype of environment that draws all the wrong types of people.

There has been very little trouble, mostly becausethe clubs patrons themselves will put an end to anything thatgets too far out of control. Most of the club’s regulars wantnothing to draw attention to their own private haven of vice.On the rare occasion that someone has died inside the clubwalls, their body is always relocated to a remote corner ofthe city, most are never found.

The club’s owner is a very mysterious man that noone can claim to have met. The employees never meet himand the accountant receives all money from an account thatalways has just enough money in it. Security is typicallypretty lapse, but with several super-powered guests at anygiven point, it’s usually not a problem.

Gyro Derrick Coe liked getting into trouble. From crawling

out of his bedroom window in the middle of the night as achild, to holding up liquor stores as a teenager, he alwaysseemed to be in one form of trouble or another. His parentsgave up on trying to keep their son on the straight and nar-row and were relieved when he was sent to a juvenile deten-tion center.

It was during this time that Derrick developed a lovefor hip-hop music. He spent hours writing his own rhymesand practicing saying them. His devotion to the music waseven enough to keep him out of trouble for nearly two yearswhen he eventually turned eighteen.

The day after his birthday he was released and

went out into the world to try and make a name for himself inhip-hop. He entered himself into a battle shortly before tak-ing the stage he became queasy and lightheaded. Thinkingit to be nerves Derrick, now calling himself Gyro, got onstage.

As soon as he began talking the entire crowd wasovercome with a fit of vomiting and dizziness. Within a min-ute, half of the people in the building had passed out andGyro stood in shock realizing what he had done. The nextday he spent the entire day sitting in his run-down apartmentand was struck with an idea that appealed to his long dor-mant inner troublemaker.

Several days later he walked into a conveniencestore and began to rhyme. As expected within minutes hewas the only conscious person in the building. Gyro hadbegun his new life as a super-villain.

Gyro keeps himself neat and clean at all times. Heusually sports a jersey from one basketball team or anotherand dark sunglasses. Gyro may be a thief and hired thug,but he values honesty above everything. He is rude and ob-noxious and would gladly beat you down and steal your lastdollar, but he’ll tell you so to your face. Gyro is not a fighter,he prefers to let other do any fighting, his role is to wreakhavoc and keep from getting hit.

Mr. MercilessMatt Ōc knew from about age twelve that he was

different from other kids. When he fell off his bike, he leftdents in the pavement. When he punched a wall, it broke. Toput it simply he was nearly immune to pain and strong as anox. This did more harm thangood, as it was here he met future partner in crime, Gyro.The two hit it off and would spend hours discussing musicand what they would do in the future when they were oldenough. Matt was released upon turning eighteen severalmonths before Gyro, and the two lost touch for over a year.

During this time Matt tried to live a normal life, buthe was quickly becoming board with mundane life. And thenone afternoon he ran into his friend Gyro who had just em-barked on a career as a super-villain. Matt wasted no time inagreeing to be the muscle to Gyro’s mayhem. While the duodo work separately from time to time, they are far more for-midable as a team. They can be found partying at Disc Junk-ies most nights of the week, barring the occasional jail sen-tence.

ClockworkWhen Lucy Watson was hit by a car shortly after

her thirteenth birthday it appeared her life was over. Herparents agreed to have he participate in an experimentalcybernetic treatment that might save her life. She was in-fused with millions of tiny nanobots that slowly but surelyreplaced her damaged organs and tissue with bio-mechanicreplacements. At first the treatment seemed to be a success,but the nanobots didn’t stop with the damaged and de-stroyed parts of her body, eventually they replaced most ofthe organic components with bionics.

The nanobots were finally deactivated, but not be-fore replacing most of the flesh on her body with metallicplates, even here eyes weren’t spared. Very little of whathad once been Lucy Watson remained. What was left wasnow stronger, faster and had much more acute senses. Thenanobots had ever equipped her with offensive capabilitiessuch as being able to configure her body into various toolsand weapons.

Clockwork is a very bitter young woman. She iseager to make new friends, but usually her defensive naturekeeps people at arms distance. She is very touchy about herappearance and while she is used to stares, she still doesn’tlike them. Clockwork is a pretty blonde woman with shorthair and a bright smile. She also has dull blue cyberneticlimbs and part covering nearly 70% of her body. She lookslike something from a science fiction movie with wires run-ning in and out of her and shiny metal plates covering largeportions of her skin.
