experience and cultures. Are we ready to embrace

10:30-12:00 Maximize Performance with Emotional
Intelligence
Extension Professionals wear many hats as they
carry out their role in Extension work. From
researcher, educator, facilitator, manager and
mentor, all of these roles demand a proficient
level of emotional intelligence. Teams can possess
the brightest, most experienced members with
access to the finest resources, and inspired by a
clear vision but still fall short due to the lack of
emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is
your ability to recognize and understand emotions
and your ability to use this awareness to manage
yourself and the relationships with others. It is
common for Extension Professions to work with
clientele groups from 4-H Leaders Council to
agriculture commodity organizations, to Master
Gardener chapters, and even other Extension
Professionals. At any one time, Extension
Professionals may be working with a multitude of
groups. Likely most have heard or know the basics
of group dynamics. Some may be working with
high functioning teams. With all this group work
going on it is critical that the Extension
Professional understand EI and how to create
group norms that can increase emotional
intelligence and lead to higher performing teams.

This session will review the four different
generational characteristics within today's
workplace that influence perceptions about the
