The 4th Durban FimMart successfully hosted 350 producers, directors, sales agents, distributors, financiers and funding organisations from across the world, who filled meeting lounges and seminar rooms over four days, attending meetings, project presentations and a series of masterclasses and workshops on the latest trends in film finance, marketing, distribution and new media technologies.

Designed to create partnerships and further the development and production of African cinema, Durban FilmMart (DFM) ultimately aims to raise the visibility of projects from the African continent, create networking opportunities with potential co-producers and other industry partners and act as a feeder stage for established co-production markets across the globe.

The Durban FilmMart is a partnership between the Durban Film Office and the Durban International Film Festival, with principal funding from the City of Durban.

The Durban FilmMart comprises the following

• Finance Forum: Selected projects have the opportunity to meet and pitch their projects to film financiers, sales agents and distributors on a one-to-one basis.

• Masterclass Programme: A series of masterclass programmes by leading industry experts will provide registered delegates an opportunity to enhance industry knowledge and professional skills so that they can compete more effectively locally and internationally.

• Doc Circle Pitching Forum: Documentary projects are granted an opportunity to pitch their projects to a panel of international commissioning editors and broadcasters in Doc Circle, a structured pitching forum.

• Africa In Focus: Industry professionals and entry level filmmakers will be treated to a series of conferences, workshops and seminars.

• Networking events: Guests and delegates will be invited to attend a series of networking events.

The Durban FilmMart was originally modeled after Rotterdam’s CineMart (IFFR), an official partner to DFM. Over the years DFM has continued to establish key partnerships locally and internationally to include Arte France, Hot Docs-Blue Ice Film Fund, IDFA Bertha Fund, IDFA, Rotterdam Cinemart, Independent Filmmaker Project, National Film and Video Foundation, Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, Paris Cinema – Paris Project and WorldView Film Fund. The annual event aims to bring visibility to African film projects, facilitate collaboration and interaction between African and international filmmakers, introduce new film projects to potential investors and partners, and provide you with the opportunity to meet African projects.

DFM expects to attract in excess of 300 delegates and is offering a limited number of sponsorship opportunities that provide our sponsors with a high level of visibility. This is an excellent opportunity for your organization to demonstrate its involvement and commitment to development initiatives in the African film industry.

The closing night will take place on Monday 21st July 2014 at oneof Durban’s finest venues. The closing night will also encompassthe Awards announcement.

Restricted to one sponsor as the host of the DFM Guest Services Lounge, you have exclusivity to host the entire lounge for the full four days.
