New! Weekly Photo Contest

Hi everybody! I’ve just invented a new photo contest for customers that I want you to know about for a couple of reasons. Each week there will be a theme and a small prize. I’m asking customers to take a photo of something particular and tag it with a specific phrase and post it on Ins-tagram, Twitter or Facebook. I will pick a random winner from the par-ticipants.

This week folks are being asked to take a photo of a representation of a chicken, tag it with #ISpyChickens and post it. In the instructions I’ve asked participants to be respectful and ask before posting a picture of your artwork, and to credit you in the caption. Please do not consider it an annoyance that someone is ask-ing you if you have any chickens (or whatever theme I come up with), consider it an opportunity to con-nect with a potential customer. As these photos go out into the world, all the friends and connections of the people that post them will see fun photos from Saturday Market. Perhaps they will see something they want to buy and come on down!

In future weeks I’d love to of-fer you the opportunity to “spon-sor” one of these contests. All you’ll need to do is donate a small prize. You can also pick the theme. I will post a photo of the prize along with the contest hashtag (that’s what the # is called FYI) on a Friday. If I get a few lined up in advance, I can an-nounce them and give you an extra

mention in our monthly customer email newsletter (1800 subscribers).

I’m hoping this will be fun for everyone involved. There will be a link on the front page of the Mar-ket’s website where you can go and see the entries each week.

New! Booth Weights Available, 4 for $32

We have an incredibly good deal on weights for your pop up booths. They are locally made from heavy weight, water resistant, royal blue pack cloth. They have a 30 lb. capacity, and can be secured with a pin through the booth leg and a grommet, and have a buckled strap to wrap around the booth leg. Our Market Member Only special price for these is 4 for $32. We will also sell individual bags for $8 each. Cash or check only, as we are already selling them at a deep discount. These bags are available at the Info Booth or the office. They come with 4 pins for se-curing them to the booth legs. You can fill them at Lane Forest Products for about $1.50.

Until shortly before Market opened, it appeared that the Fire Marshal was going to require all booths at outdoor events to be weighted or tied down this season. The City has decided to suspend this rule for now. In order to prepare for this eventual requirement and make the Market a safer place on windy days, Market Board and Manage-ment is working to craft rules for weighting of booths. You can get a copy of the proposed rules at the Info Booth if you are interested. The Board will discuss this at their next meeting. Talk to board members or plan to attend the meeting if you’d like to weigh in on this issue.
