IntroductionThe Two courses are speci�cally designed for the graduates of BEng (Hons) in Fire Engineering PLUS MSc in Fire Safety Engineering awarded by UCLan. According to the information published by the HKIE, the above-mentioned graduates are required to top up with two modules in Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) and Building Electrical Systems o�ered by CityU SCOPE in order to meet one of the academic requirements for entering the BS Discipline of the HKIE.

Class SchedulesEach of the two courses consists of 42 contact hours. Classes will be conducted on Tuesday and Friday evenings (Except public holidays ), 6:45pm to 9:45 pm

Teaching VenuesClasses will be mainly scheduled in SCOPE Tsim Sha Tsui East Learning Centre OR SCOPE Learning Centre located at Kowloon Tong

Assessment and AwardThe Assessment of the two courses consist of both Coursework and Examinations. Students must attain the minimum pass grade (40%) in both coursework and examination in order to pass the course as a whole and must achieve an overall attendance of not less than 70%.

A “Certi�cate of Completion” will be awarded to the participants who meet the pass requirements.

Aims and Objectives of the Two CoursesThere are two top-up courses. The course BC4763 HVAC Engineering Elective I aims to provide students with sound theoretical knowledge in air quality and thermal impact on the built environment; and also energy conservation measures and noise and vibration suppression techniques. Particular emphasis will be placed on the local environment. The statutory requirements and possible constraints in designing HVAC&R systems will be realised.

The another Course BC4753 Electrical Services Elective I aims to equip students with knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility, power quality and the usage of a diesel generator and an uninterruptible power supply in buildings; and also the basic concept of high voltage engineering in modern buildings.
