DESCRIPTION

The city of eternal sunshine is surrounded by a desert that treasures mysteries, such as the Nasca Lines, a group of gigantic zoomorphic, anthropomorphic and geometrical designs which have been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Moreover, fossils of immense sharks and prehistoric birds are constantly being found. The dunes end where the sea begins, abounding in resources and scenic beauty that reaches its maximum splendor in the Paracas National Reserve. Also, Ica is the birthplace of pisco, Peru’s national liquor, distilled from the grapes grown in its fertile valleys since the 16th century. The preparation of some candies called tejas and the breeding of the Peruvian Paso Horse are also essential to the cultural wealth of Ica.
