DESCRIPTION

Where the forest and the sea merge. Its privileged location, on the northernmost part of the Peruvian coast, gives Tumbes a singularity worth ppreciating. It is the only zone of the country with a tropical forest from the Pacific, with ecosystems such as the mangrove swamps, which lodge an outstanding biodiversity. Besides, it has the largest area of the Biosphere Reserve in Northwestern Peru. Because of that, more than 30% of the Tumbes territory is included within protected natural areas. And all these attractions are close to beaches of fine sands and turquoise colored waters. Do not forget to taste the exquisite cuisine from Tumbes, based on the products of its generous sea, or to buy decorative handcrafts made of pasaya, a fiber obtained from the stem of the banana plant.
