TRAIL OF DISCOVERY
Explore stories of activism that have taken place in Canberra over the last century.
Canberra has a special relationship with activism. As the national capital of Australia, it is not only the location of protest on local issues, but also the site of national and international protest. No matter whether it’s big and dramatic, or quiet and slow, these are stories of people working for change in the Canberra community.

artwork which interprets forces for change.
From ‘eco’ to ‘FIFO’. From high-value to high-vis.

Location: Museum of Australian Democracy
Craftivism. Dissident Objects and Subversive Forms is a collaborative, playful and immersive exhibition featuring 17 contemporary Australian artists who utilise craft based materials and techniques with a political intent.
It is a visually stunning exhibition with an interactive element, where visitors can leave their personal mark by contributing to the colloborative artwork, Archiloom.
Time: 9am – 5pm, daily
Location: Museum of Australian Democracy
Aided by the power of social media, and united by their passion for quilting and human rights — 131 craftivists from across the globe came together to showcase the power of their voices. The result was four quilts, each embroidered with the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
